Possibility to use 3 private Jacuzzi/typical Japanese bath with hot water! great for relaxing at the end of the day!
Location. Far from the Nikko village and not much public transport. More suitable for couples or family than solo traveler.
It is a nice typical Japanese hotel. The staff is amazing. We were in Nikko for a very short time and the owner of the hotel was very helpful. Thanks to him we were able to get to the temples before they closed.
A nice room a very friendly host, great private bath Japanese style (recommended!!!!)
Located on the main road, quite busy with cars and polution
We went to Nikko on the spur of the moment and did not have much time to research. The villa looked good so we hoped for the best and were not disappointed. Rooms are not large but are adequate, staff are lovely, spas are great, it is very clean and quiet and price was good. We would definitely stay there again if in Nikko.
Can't really think of anything worth complaining about.
Extraordinary service. The owner could not have been more helpful with advice (speaks enough English) and he even drove us into Nikko for Dinner. Hotel and rooms very clean. Magnificent breakfast - the Onsens are great- especially the natural stone one.
I like their onsen. There are 3 private onsens available and it is big enough for my family. Owner is very kind and welcome. Location of villa is comfortable.
Toilet in the room is lower average. Food has to reserve in advance.
Very comfortable, homely hotel. Very friendly staff.
Hotel is close to main sights, but relatively far from restaurants which are all in the town's centre.
The place is run by a very sweet family who went out of their way when they could to help us (e.g. dropping us to a restaurant for dinner and to the bus stop). The breakfast was divine, as good as all the other reviwers mentioned. The japanese onsen was amazing. As we stayed during off season we had it to ourself most of the time, a perfect ending to a long hot summer's day.
Nothing. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friend's and family
Small hotel with an owner who is extremely friendly and helpful. Picked us up from the railway station on arrival and brought us back again when we left. Excellent breakfast, that was different both days we stayed at the hotel. Bus stop very close to. If the owner asks whether you would like to have dinner at his daughter's vegan restaurant your answer should be: yes, even if you like fish or meat. We (non-vegetarians) had an excellent meal.
We were completely happy...
Friendly staff, huge breakfast, private spa-like bath!
Could've used an extra pillow.
Baths - 3 ofuro places - お風呂 was a massive plus after one day of hiking. Really rested well. Nice dining area, view on the mountains - very relaxing.
Maybe is not modern enough for younger people. But if you just want to rest in piece it`s a great place.
Terrific breakfast and dinner
Beds very firm..ask for mattress topper
The gentleman who owned and ran the hotel was wonderful. He took very good care of our young family, even driving us around in the rain. The hotel is simple but clean. The food was good and my husband enjoyed the Japanese baths.
It seemed a bit removed from the action. We didn't have a car and found it difficult to get back and forth from the hotel to the sites. The buses do not run very often and taxis are scarce. It was raining during our stay so maybe this would not have seemed like such a big deal in nice weather.
Wi-fi was pitifully slow.
Kono san and his family are so friendly and helpful. The room was big and well appointed. Tea and coffee are readily available and the Japanese baths just hit the spot after walking and sightseeing all day. I highly recommend this option - a great stay.
Nothing - all good.
The family who run this inn are fabulously welcoming, helpful, and kind. Breakfast is simply amazing - varied, tasty, and tastefully-presented. The wife is a fantastic cook so if you can do it, we recommend booking dinner, which is fabulous - we ate there twice during our stay. Local vegetables and fish and local specialties like yuba were highlights. The onsen/hot-springs are lovely. You feel at home at once and hate to leave...but when you do, your host and hostess will be there, bowing you off with good wishes. Highly recommended!!!
No real complaint except that the wifi was a bit weak in some of the rooms, but we simply took our laptops into the tea area and all was fine.
Wonderful hospitality great staff amazing food great onsen
Smell of kerosene heater
Staff very friendly and helpfull. Shuttle excellent and included drop off and pick up at restaurants. Understood what a vegetarian is! Onsen was brilliant. Above all food was excellent.
The owner and his entire family treated us like royalty. They picked us up at the bus, took us to the hotel, explained all the highlights of Nikko, outlined where they were on a map, drove us to an outstanding restaurant for dinner & picked us up after we finished eating. The dinner we had at the hotel was delicious and reasonably priced and the breakfasts, which came with the room, were fit for a king. Lovely hot springs on site. An absolute pleasure all around!
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Lovely hotel, cozy and comfy. The staffs are very nice, friendly, and helpful. Private onsen is so amazing, dinner and breakfast is well prepared and very delicious. Definitely come back to stay here again :-)
This place was great! We enjoyed our stay very much. The location of the hotel is convenient too. I hope to visit this place again in the future.
This hotel is new, nice and clean. Private onsen (bath tub) is very good. Breakfast is superb. We didn't try their dinner but it looks nice as well. There is no convenient store nearby. You cannot order any meal on the day you wanted to. You have to order it 1 day in advance. ( We reached the hotel quite late afternoon and we needed some food for our dinner. The owner was very kind that He drove us to the nearest convenient store which about 1.5 km. from the hotel. He had waited until we finished buying things and took us back to the hotel). From the Tobu/Jr Nikko Station, you have to take a bus 2A and 2B bound to Chuzenji Lake, get off at the bus stop no.12. Walk straight along the road on the same direction about 400 meters. The hotel is on your left side.
Google map is not quite accurate for the hotel location.
Loved everything. The owners are wonderful hosts. The facility is lovely and meticulous. The hot spring baths were great. Recommend the dinner as well. Gourmet and great value.
A bit outside of town, but easy bus ride in, or about a 20 minute walk.
