Considering we came at an extremely busy season, staying at this brand new place was a blessing. We very much enjoyed the spacious lobby.
The staff. To be honest, we were very disappointed especially at such a country where service deeply roots in everyone's soul. When we got off the train and arrived the hotel at noon, we asked if there's room that was checked out early and ready for us to check in. The receptionist told us it cost 1000 JPY per hour per person for early check in. We were astonished since we've experienced lots of early checkin circumstances and every single of them was a thoughtful nice surprise except this time. And at the checkout we were shocked again. We handed over our key to the receptionist and then asked him to call a local restaurant to cancel an appointment that we can't make. The receptionist said since we checked out already, he's not longer at our service! :( Of course we understand policy is policy. But we really cannot imagine such harsh police comes from a highly rated 4-star hotel in Japan.
1. The attitude of workers in the hotel. 2. Wifi connection speed. 3. The computer with big screen in the lobby. 4. The English of the workers make life even easier.
1. The security code for the public beth doesn't work.
resting lobby is comfortable and calm
have to walk 10 minutes to kyoto station to transfer to spots
Good location (7 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station). Excellent bed and pillow. Acceptable room space.
We stay two night in here and if I could, I would like to stay more days here. The room is not big but so clean and comfortable, you can get everything you need here. I love the service here especially at front desk, they are so kind. Thank you so much.
Convenient to Kyoto station; Staff were friendly, with warm greetings each time; library, workstation in lobby was nice; in-room wifi/cable connection worked perfectly for easy internet access
The single room was tiny, and for those with large luggage, will be extra tight; no in-room safe
The location was close to the Kyoto train and bus stations.
It was VERY small and cramped even for japan standards. It wasn't a cheap option and even the coffee in the minibar was charged.
Staff are extremely friendly, hotel is one of the nicest and cleanest I've stayed in, loved the public bath and the breakfast was yummy
--ten minute walk from train station and easy to find. --staff was courteous and pleasant. --i had asked for a quiet room and staff kindly acommodated me with a corner room, which was noise free day and night.
--main complaint is that the corridor and my room had a faint chemically smell, which i found unpleasant. Whatever the cause of the odor, it seemed to be a permanent fixture of the hotel and i could taste it in my room. Also, the bathroom had an unpleasant odor which seemed to emanate from the water in the toilet. Staff suggested i open the window, which didnt help much. A mildly sickening odor coupled with small room size and high price did not leave me thinking i got decent value for my money and i would probably stay somewhere else next time. --the bed pillows felt like they were filled with stones, not very comfortable. --not the hotels fault but the location is a bit dreary and depressing.
Location is nice for sightseeing and travelling around Kyoto. Walking way to station is about 7 minutes. Room is super clean, there is comfy space next to window for working, make up, coffee or whatever you want. Also room has a lot of shelves that helps us to keep some order. Onsen is modern, pretty big. Has sauna as well. Highly recommend!
Sento (bath) is very good. All was very good: very confortable, very clean, staff nice and able to speak english correctly. We stayed 4 nights in different rooms. One of the room have very bad wi fi connection (it was necessary to go to the lobby), for the others one, it was perfect
Neighboorhood is not nice (south of Kyoto station) We selected this hotel because it was close to the train station. Actually it is necessary to walk more than 10mn from the train station. If the hotel was located 10mn on the north of the station it would be perfect but south of the station is not exciting area.
Reception staff provided excellent customer service and speak English. Free WiFi. Window that opens in guest room to allow for fresh air. Close proximity to Kyoto Station.
Location requires a taxi or bus to the main sightseeing destinations...although you can take the 5 minute walk to Kyoto Station and utilise the JR Rail and metro lines.
Clean, friendly, efficient Hotel. Excellent base for exploring Kyoto.Highly recommended.
New hotel, clean, comfortable bed, walking distance from Kyoto station with regular shuttle between hotel and pick-up, helpful and friendly staff.
Bathroom rather on the small side, room could do with more light and an extra mirror.
The room is clean. Staffs are nice and kind. Hotel locate just few minutes walk to kyoto station. There is lawson near hotel. Easy to access especially for people who come and go to the Kansai international airport by limousine bus.
The hotel public bath is quite small especially when lots of people use in the same time.
I’ve read many reviews before booking this hotel and I completely agree with all positive reviews. For me very important feature of a hotel turned out to be the laundry. It was hot and humid in Kyoto and we did not take many clothes… Thank you, staff of Almont Hotel, for all your help and hospitality.
Great service, very comfortable bed, minimalist and modern looking lobby, super clean feel.
Very close to train satin. Good clean hotel. Great to have a washer / dryer. Nice stay!
My stay at Almont Hotel Kyoto was certainly my best hotel experience in Japan. The staff were excellent--very welcoming, courteous, and helpful. The room was clean, very quiet, and very functional. One may think that the location away from the city center is a disadvantage, but actually for someone coming in on the train and/or using the local bus system to explore the great sites of Kyoto being near the train station is a great advantage and the Almont is only 4 min away. I liked the quiet neighborhood and abundance of good restaurants at the train station. The breakfast is wonderful.
The wifi was slow at times.
This place exceed our expectations and was only a 10m min stroll from Kyoto station. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and could speak English well, they even played with my 3yr old son and gave him some origami to play with while we were trying to sort something out at the front desk. The room was very comfortable, modern, clean and roomy. The hotel joined twin beds together which made plenty of space for 2 adults and a child to sleep in. There were also laundry facilities where we could wash our clothes for a few hundred yen. The breakfast restaurant was amazing. A large variety of food which accomodated all tastes. We truly loved this hotel and would recommend this place to anyone.
Nothing, and I'm usually a major critic.
Very organized. The room is really clean and comfortable. There are computers at the reception so we can use the internet. The public bath is clean and is very safe for women since we have to have pass code to enter woman public bath. Not very far from central station (10 minutes walk) in quiet area.
Great location ... Good facilities considering The price
Location Comfortable beds Excellent breakfast
Very 'standard' decor - could have been anywhere in the world. Intermittent wifi in the dining room.
Great location, very clean and modern. Nice public bath - it was great to experience this aspect of Japanese culture in a clean and elegant women's only bath.
The room was small, but featured everything we needed.
