Location near kyoto station (a must) Clean Nice friendly staff Good value
No option for dinner or bar No pool or gym Small rooms
Great value for the price. It is close (5~8 min walking) to the Kyoto station but be sure you understand the topology, emerging from the right side, otherwise it is at least 20 min walk! The subway closes at about midnight so you can have your night in Gion and then come back here. As usual in Japan you have slippers, toothbrush, a light kimono-like vest, etc... Rooms are the average size here, enough to lay down 2 big trolleys and move around. Wifi worked well in our room. The public bath was great, I used it all the days. The breakfast is apparently expensive (1600 each) but it has a great selection of Japanese food that you can pick on your own (2 types of grilled fish, miso and other soups, many other smaller cups with mysterious things, etc...). There is a smaller selection of continental stuff (bacon, eggs, croissants and delicious cakes in small cups)
Nothing, I suggest this place to everybody.
Great hotel, friendly staff, awesome location. Breakfest was worth every penny, had a huge verity of good food including freash fruit!
Laundry was really really expensive for what it was
Location is super convenient for Kyoto Station, common bath facilities are clean and very spacious, the staff is friendly, helpful and kind
The room was on the small side, the toilet smelled a little bit
The location was very close to the bus and train station (which is an amazing sight in it's own right!) the public bath was very nice and clean, also open to 2am which was great as we were late after sight seeing. A great place to stay.
Within 10 minutes walk of the Kyoto Station to access Kyoto City buses, subway or JR. Kyoto Station has lots of food options and shopping as well. The room was clean and there were plenty of bathroom amenities for your entire stay. There's even an air purifier in the room but not sure it was necessary. The hotel staff spoke English and were really helpful in getting us settled in to the hotel. Buffet breakfast should be tried at least once for a Japanese style breakfast.
Most Kyoto sites were at least 30 minutes away but the public transportation system is really convenient and fairly easy to navigate so not a huge con.
proximity to the main train station, friendliness of staff, amenities of hotel
Good location, about 5 - 10 min's walking from Kyoto station, 10 - 15 min's walking to malls and restaurants. Not near to the Kyoto downtown but there are a lot of restaurant/shopping choices nearby so we're fine with it. Located in a Quiet neighborhood. With a public bath (an "Onsen"), which is very helpful after a long day's sightseeing and walking. We went there every night! With good WIFI connection right in the room and several PCs with Internet connection in the lobby. The room is large enough and fully equipped. The bed is comfy.
- great hotel -wonderful onsen!
- made a mistake in booking a restaurant for us, but helped in getting a replacement - location is far from downtown
Very clean, close enough to Kyoto station
Small rooms, a couple blocks away from anything
Excellent staff, clean rooms. Close to Kyoto station where there were lots of places to eat and shop. A bit difficult to get to from the bus terminal side of the station, we got lost a few times, would be handy to provide us with a map of Kyoto station. The public bath was great facility, as were the coin-operated washing machines.
The motion-sensor room light in front of the bathroom - couldn't turn it off and it got annoying for the person trying to sleep. No complimentary bottles of water. No instant tea or coffee bags.
great onsen place
should give bigger bed for 4 person stay
Families could share a room with twin beds. Room was fairly spacious by Japanese standards. Staff very friendly and helpful.
View from window not very attractive. No bottled drinking water provided.
- The hotel provides three computers for free in common area to customers. - The facilities in the bathroom is old. - The hotel is quite far away from the Kyoto JR station, it takes around 15 mins walk.
- The staff are unfriendly.
Wonderful room. Convenient location. Very nice staff Would definitely recommend to others and stay again if we have the opportunity to travel to Japan again.
Breakfast seemed a bit expensive and there was no restaurant for lunch or dinner on-site
Very clean hotel, near the train station, staff was nice, room was spacious and clean. Really enjoyed the hotel!
This is an excellent hotel, very close to the main train station. The staff are superb. Would highly recommend this hotel.
1. Rooms are small but very clean, enough towels offered; 2. High speedy for wifi; 3. Comfortable public bath; 4. Nice receptionist and warm service every where; 5. Can offer adapter.
1. Have booked 1 twin room for my parents and 1 signle room for myself, and the size of the rooms are the same, but the opposite rooms for twins are much bigger than ours; 2. Breakfast is ok but seemed too much Japanese style.
I stayed here with my teenage daughter on out two day stay in kyoto. We arrived late at night and the location of the hotel was great. It's a short 7 min walk to kyoto station and a short walk to bus stop. The staff is great and speaks English. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are very clean and great water pressure. I will definatly stay here again and will recommend to anyone visiting kyoto!
This was a great hotel. Everything was nice and comfortable about. The staff speak very good English. The rooms were very clean and comfy. The bed was amazing and soft.
I guess the room was small, but it didn't matter. It was very nice.
Good hotel overall. Very clean and comfortable rooms.
The place was a bit hard to find initially and the rooms were a bit small.
We had a lovely stay at Almont and would surely consider it for a next trip to Kyoto. The staff was very friendly and always ready to help. When we arrived, soaked by the pouring rain, they immediately brought us a couple of towels, without us even asking. The room was a decent size (for Japan, at least), very clean, with comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities. And then there were all sort of "nice touches" which really added to the comfort: yukata kimonos in the room, public bath, umbrellas to borrow, smartphone/tablet charger by the bed, drink dispensers, washing machine and dryer etc. The hotel may not be in a charming location, granted, but with a Lawson convenience store just across the street and the train station (with bus terminal, restaurants, shops) a mere 10 minutes walk away, it was all very practical. All in all, we were very satisfied with our choice and, unless you're looking for a middle-of-the-action type of location, Almont is definitely a hotel to consider.
Nice fresh, clean, modern facility. Closeness to Train station
Lack of English speakers and a lack of written English tourist materials
The hotel was great; staff so friendly, polite and helpful. Also the location was perfect, less than ten minute walk to Kyoto station and we found some wonderful restaurRants close by. The room was small but spotless and had everything we needed.
We could only get a small double bed and found that too small for us. Beds in Japan are small so it is better to get a twin room perhaps.
10 -15 minute walk from train station. Loan umbrella when raining. 7-11 across the road. Amazing hot bath pass code changed daily for ladies bath. Lockers provided in hot bath room, lounge/room attire provided, hot bath room contained quality facial was, toner, moisturiser, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and all of good quality. Staff very helpful even those that had limited English tried really hard to help. Free wifi that worked. Free computer and BW printer. Some English TV channels like BBC. Quiet location, minimum road traffic on main road. Very relaxing atmosphere in hotel. Self checkout machines in lobby.
With luggage, hotel feels far. Room size small for western standards, but that's the norm in Japan.
