nice location, just steps from main temple area and from a nice abyss The person at the reception was an English teacher and spoke a good English and was helpful in advicing Nice (even though small) onsen, good for families. With view to the river.
the room was a bit small for 4 people (2 adults 2 kids)
Staff was extremely helpful with traveling plans, fluent in English
location - set along beautiful river and quiet street, but walking distance to all major sites in Nikko
The hotel is nice, in a quiet section of the city, close to the river.
The hotel is a little far from the tourist attractions of Nikko (10 min direct walking, or 5 min walking to a bus stop), which makes difficult to transport with baggage. The breakfast is nice, but not too abundant.
The hotel offers a wonderful "unsen" hot bath, very good breakfast of egg, fruit and toast. The staff is excellent and hospitable. Excellent views of river and lush greenery from the unsen.
The rooms smell musty, and restaurants for lunch and dinner were at least 0.5 km. Rooms are small, with no in-room beverage service.
The woman who checked us in was wonderfully informative and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and nicely presented.
The room was a bit small.
The onsen with a view towards the river! A very special place.
Not too close to public transportation, but the nature around makes up for it.
Very quiet. Close to the temple zone and the abyss. "Occidental" breakfast. Internet OK. Helpful staff.
In any case, you need 10' walk to reach the street and buses (and temples). With heavy luggages, a taxi is needed from/to the station (but is quite cheap). Private and small onsen (warm bath), usable only when free, so, usually, not when you would like...
- Nice little Onsen with river view. - The staff was extremely helpful.
It is a wonderful place to stay in Nikko. Very comfortable, clean and nice hotel. The breakfast is very good too. The team is amazing! One of them, Naoko, became a big friend! Thank you, Nikko!
Home away from home feeling!
Right by one of the shrines and the river, this really was a great place to stay. Nikko national park is a 20 min walk away and was easy to find. A great area for walking. Only negative things was the main town by the station. Only one restaurant was open - very odd - and that restaurant was a curry house.. creepy owner and obviously a great microwave. Nuff said..
Very friendly staff with great English, japanese-style rooms with private bathroom, Onsen available, friendly dining area, great view of river from the room we stayed in, good breakfast. Nearby river-side trail walk with statues is great too. Nikko is a beautiful place - plenty to see!
Private bathroom is quite small, but it isn't shared which is a luxury for a small room. It is a little walk to get into town, but not that bad. Not many dinner places nearby - make sure you know where they are, or grab a take-out meal from the convenience store!
Good location and friendly staff. Breakfast ok. Onsen ok. Location situated next to river, about 4km from JR Station. Bus Transfer possible.
The onsen is really really cool
Too long distance from "town"
Staff were friendly We stayed when a festival was on and were included with friends and family and given a cup of sake etc
Tea and coffee availability sparse
The location is very close to the abyss, very beautiful. The private onsen was really nice, proper size and over looking the river. The owner was very nice and helpful, speaks english, so very convenient.
The beds were very thin, but this is quite normal for ryokan style.
Comfortable Japanese-style tatami room with futons for sleeping. Nice onsen (hot springs) bath downstairs. Friendly and helpful staff. They loaned us umbrellas and even offered to let us take them with us on our return to Tokyo. Close to Kanmangafuchi Abyss hike.
It was a bit far from the closest bus stop.
Good balance of service and value for money..
Well, nothing much.. TV could be a bit bigger, and style could be a bit more Japanese (e.g. Breakfast), but nothing much to complain about.. Definitely a very recommendable hotel.
Being a Gaijin I liked to stay at a Japanese style house to experience part of Japanese culture.
There are not many options to eat around. I really hope there are more options to eat including some good Japanese food.
The location (a pleasant walk from bus stop #8) was lovely. It is right on the Kanman Path which is a lovely 5k walk. I enjoyed the view of the river from my window. The heater worked well and the futon was very comfortable. The breakfast was a good hearty start to the day.
The location and scenery were beautiful right next to the river. The room had a great view and the tatami floor was beautiful. Breakfast was very good and convenient. The onsen was perfect for our family with a great view. Owner and staff were helpful and gracious.
First time in a Japanese style room, but futon seemed thin and a bit uncomfortable compared to what we are are used to. The bathroom was very cold.
Delightfully situated by the river in a quiet part of the town. I stayed in winter, but it must be beautiful in spring. Very clean and comfortable, helpful staff. It's a 10 minute walk to the World Heritage sites.
There aren't many restaurants in this area, but there is a convenience store up on the main road.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly. It was my friend's first time to sleep in a ryokan with tatami floors and futons for beds. She loved it, too! Breakfast was perfect. Nice fruit, toast, egg and beverages. Dinner at the other turtle inn down the street was also good and a good value.
