Very comfortable rooms and facilities, very friendly host, very quiet and scenic environment
Kind of rural and taxi may be required if with large bagages
The Onsen Breakfast is good Staff very helpful We we're the only guests so had the onsen to ourselves and used it every night.
We were the only guests due to time of year so very quiet
Location by the river was quiet and close to the UNESCO site. Rooms were warm and comfortable and staff extremely helpful. Breakfast was delightful. The onsen was great as you could use it privately.
Quite a distance from town and limited local restaurants which closed very early. Required a little planning.
Staff was speaking English fluently. Nice surrounding, with beautiful forest and running stream alongside the hotel.
only 1choices of European breakfast (bread and fruits) provided. Bedding is a little bit dusty.
Cosy hotel. The staff was extremely enthusiastic and friendly. The hotel was very comfortable and had a really homely feel.
Location is a little far in but the walk to the hotel was enjoyable
The place is very nice, clean and cozy and comes with reasonable price. The room is not so small and the facility is fully equipped. Staff are also helpful and supportive. Despite long distance from the bus station to the hotel, I really love the scene along the way to the hotel !!!! On the way to the hotel you have walk across the bridge over the canal and the scene is absolutely stunning !!! I strongly recommend this place to everybody who is looking for a truly relaxation.
The hotel is quite far away from the bus station (around 10 - 15 mins by walk) and there is no signs to guide the direction to the hotel. At that time, I have to use google map.
Onsen overlooking the river--perfect after a day of touring in cool November weather. Location is great. A quiet site on the river and just a short walk across the river to bus stops and many of the main shrines and temples.
Not much luck with the Wifi--connected but server down? Rooms are small, but adequate.
Location is next to the Imperial Villa and not too far (within walking distance) of the main shrines and temples. English-speaking staff. Excellent view from the Japanese bath that is private. Great breakfast. Overall great experience.
Great onsen. Nice room with futon. A bit cold but cosy with the heater. Staff was nice and pointed a very nice restaurant.
Probably a bit too expensive for the standing. But it is difficult to find better in nikko.
Very helpful staff and friendly atmosphere. Excellent breakfast.
Onsen Staff Location
Very friendly staff. Nice location, however not close to restaurants so need to walk for tea, but that is good anyway. Private spa available. Nice basic breakfast.
Smoking was allowed in a lounge area however smoke drifted into other areas.
I liked the location since it's not in the center of Nikko, though very near to the main sites and the bus station. Room were simple but clean. They have a private hot springs.
The price was quite expensive. I paid 22,000 Yen (ok it was autumn season, but still)
friendliness of staff; afternoon manager well informed on local attractions and eating places location: on the river, listen to the stream at night onsen has great view of river breakfast room heating This place is a real gem!
pillows too small
Very quite location Private free onsen
Bus station 10 minutes walk
The onsen or bath, with the gorgeous river view. 2 western single beds + 2 futons are excellent for a family of 4. 10 min walk to a lot of Nikko's attractions. Almost outside the front door is a gorgeous walk with river, forest, shrines. Staff at checking were extremely helpful with local eating options, convenience stores, maps, bus timetables, local knowledge etc.
From JR station, it's a bus ride + 5 to 10min walk, so if you have a lot of baggage, you may need a taxi (around 2,000 yen). While everything is clean and well maintained, most of it is a bit dated.
We liked the location, with a view of the Daiya river and near the Gamman-Ga-Fuchi Abyss with the collection of jizo statues. The onsen is great.
The room is very clean but smells something awful, the staff provided an air freshener which worked for a while. We could not keep it overnight and had to put up with smell. We got slightly lost and wondered into a big hotel. They provided a very clear map for the Annex Turtle Inn as though they get asked a lot for directions!!
Staff is very accommodating. The ofuro was very relaxing.
A little far from the jr station. We arrived around 7 pm and couldn't find a restaurant. We didn't realize that we needed to walk up the street for stores and restaurants.
Stuff is very friendly, all facilities are on-site (which is a huge plus for a basically small village, which is Nikko). Great location with rooms facing the river. It takes 15 or so minutes to get to the most famous temples by foot.
The ryokan is situated a bit far from the station. If you manage to arrive later than the last bus departs from the station (last 2 or 3 trains) you're going to need a taxi.
Very clean and very very cute Japanese style room. Big enough for one person. Stuff was very friendly and spoke English. They gave me a map with the main attractions. They is free tee or coffee in the lounge. Maybe a bit tricky to find at first, but walking distance from the national park. however very close to other attractions. Right next to a river that makes a really nice atmosphere but also gives quiet a lot of humidity (was not really a problem for me). Nice small private onsen. They stored my luggage for a few hours before I leave. Good Internet connection. Strongly recommended!
I could feel the humidity (and smell it as well) in the room and the lounge area but maybe because it was a summer rainy day. A bit tricky to find it at first but not a real problem.
The owner was incredibly friendly and hospitable . The hotel was quiet and providing also an onsen with personal use.
It's a little far away from the JR station ( I had to take a taxi). The rooms on the lower floor , although were clean , they were smelling due to humidity . And that's really a pitty 'cause it's a good hotel.
nice location, just steps from main temple area and from a nice abyss The person at the reception was an English teacher and spoke a good English and was helpful in advicing Nice (even though small) onsen, good for families. With view to the river.
the room was a bit small for 4 people (2 adults 2 kids)
Staff was extremely helpful with traveling plans, fluent in English
location - set along beautiful river and quiet street, but walking distance to all major sites in Nikko
