Lovely quiet location Comfortable & cosy, like staying at a friends apartment
Aoi Kyoto Stay is a must and made all the difference in my stay in Kyoto. The location is excellent and the facilities very nice.
Lovely house located in downtown, access to Takashimaya is just 2 minutes walk, Goin is about 12 mins walk, to Kiyomisu Dera temple 20 mins. Great location! Staff is helpful.
We liked the tub made from fragrant Koyamaki (Japanese umbrella pine), very nice! Its orgainic coffee was very good too!
Location was excellent and the adjacent water/ stream with landscaping provided a beautiful setting. Comfortable sized rooms for 2 people, clean and well decored generally. Staff provided an ipad which was useful to get around, allowing free wifi access around the city. Overall the accommodation enhanced the fantastic experience of our stay in Kyoto.
Low doorway heights can be a bit troublesome if one is not used to it.
We loved the whole experience, staying in a real Kyoto house but of course with all the luxuries that in the past didn't have (AC, flor heating,...). The house had separate space for day living which we unfortunately haven't used, great music options, ...the whole athmosphere was just perfect.
Ideally located in Kyoto where you can reach by walk places of interest. Beautifull accomadation with nice view on the river. Helpfull staff.
Difficult for taxi to locate and no contact number in brochure to order breakdast delivery - minor stuff wholly made up for by the super staff.
You get a chance to live like the Japanese. In your own private house. Close walking distance to Gion and restaurants, also subway. Staff will spend time showing the house and teaching you everything about the area. Taxis also close. Very convenient checkin and checkout. Very nice house. Loved it!
Not for those looking to be pampered by a hotel. You are renting a house and its up to you to take care of yourself. Also there are no English channels on the TV....if you are the lazy type who just wants to waste time watching TV !
Great location, interior, and service. Wonderful atmosphere.
It was better than we expected. And perfect for my 16 year old son and I. The location was ideal - with the Gion district within walking distance. We really loved the quaintness of the walking street and bein next to the small walking bridge and right along an estuary with a peaceful, trickling brook. The details of this place were exquisite - all the way from the oversized wooden door to the modern mid-century furniture to the design books, retro record players with a variety of singles to the amnesties in the bathroom.
The was nothing not to like. The only thing that might be a challenge for others is the steepness of the staircase - especially if your mobility is limited.
Excellent location, old fashioned style of Japanese house, but bathroom is modern.
The place was clean, well maintained and well equipped. The view from inside the stay was spectacular especially during the cherry blossom season. Upon arrival, a member of staff walked us through the stay explaining the different equipments. He also showed us the tourist places and pointed out the nice places and best times to visit. Overall, a very nice experience. I wish I could repeat it.
I can't think of any.
Its a nice experience to stay in a Japanese house and the surroundings were very picturesque with flowering cherry tress along the river just outside. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants etc. Very clean and tidy!
Not for those who have difficulties getting up and down from the sleeping mattresses on the floor. Coffee and tea wasn't replenished every day as agreed.
The property is in a very good location and well maintained. It comes with nice decorative items especially the antique pieces in some of their property.
Some of their property comes with the very steep staircase which mignt be a bit difficult for old folks.
Location, Design, Bathroom, Living Room
Noise, Hard Carpet, Wardrobe not on the same level as the bedroom
Amazing modern townhouse / ryokan. Got the traditional experience with modern facilities, perfect! Excellent customer service with a focus on detail like the miniature art museum and the record players.
Location was a bit difficult to find, especially at night.
Perfect. Location good. Standards high. Enhances the old vs new feel of Kyoto.
Location is near Gion with nice view of Cherry blossoms.
Next to restaurants, could be bit noisy, but it was fine the night we stayed.
The bathroom was very nice complete with hinoki tub and the toiletries provided were top notch. Also the kitchenette, whilst tiny was well stocked with lovely japanese cups. The heated floor was a nice touch too.
Though the tub was beautiful but the auto filling system was not working so it kept shutting off before the tub was full. Also, there was only one bathroom for a group of 5, which meant a long queue. The staff who met us at the property was not very helpful and apparently did not show us the gallery that was on site. I only found out after checking out when I received an email apologising for not showing us. So I never got to see what was in the gallery.
Great Location, easy access to downtown, 1-2 minutes walk to Takashimaya, Marui, bus stop, taxi stand... 10-15 minutes walk to Goin. From the house to outside view is very scenic and pleasant. The service is excellent, staffs are very friendly, helpful and professional. Highly recommended!
The house extremely cozy and comfortable which made our Kyoto visit an unforgettable one (though with bad weather). My little girl so reluctant to leave when we have to check out the house. Special thanks to the staff (sorry forgot the name) who helped us. He was very helpful and gave lots information. Would surely stay again if got a chance to visit Kyoto again.
The only one is the house with few cooking utensils if any.
Staff - Extremely detailed and clear in instructions and efficient in checking in. Answered out enquiries and clearing our doubts on moving around Kyoto. Facilities - Toilet was very well done. Most necessities were provided. Cleanliness - Almost spotless. Comfort - Very comfortable bed and cosy apartment. Value for money - Although above budget, glad I splurged on this place. Location - Walking distance from all tourist attractions and shopping area. Beautiful view from the apartment.
this is the best hotel I ever stayed in Japan. I love the place feel like home. But you need to know how to get there cuz there are many houses under them.
Absolute everything! We stayed in the Ayanokoji-bashi for our final night in Kyoto and the place was amazing. We turned up to leave our luggage at their office, but they ended up allowing us to check in at 11am. The whole house was really trendy and comfortable. After going for lunch and exploring Gion, we ended up returning and sitting on the couches, playing jazz records and just watching the leaves fall into the stream outside our window. I would highly recommend it. It was my favourite place of the entire trip.
My only fault is that their offices can be a little hard to find if you want to leave the luggage, but other than that, it was absolutely perfect.
