A 3-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Station, the Oakhostel Zen provides dorm beds and private rooms. Open from May 2014, it features cheerful wall designs, a shared lounge and free Wi-Fi.

Conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from Tsukuba Express’ Asakusa Station, the Khaosan World Asakusa Hostel provides a range of private and dormitory rooms.
Score from 260 reviews Very good
Very convenient- 5 min walk from ueno station. Wifi worked very well even in capsules.
During evening and morning, the smoke from the common areas spreads up to the nonsmoking floors. Poor air circulation in capsules; gets real hot in there. Woke up with a dozen bug bites on my ankles :/ never saw the bugs so can't say if it was bed bugs or mites
Location Staffs Facilities
Smelling smoke everywhere even in non-smoking area
- Great Location. 5 minute walk from JR Ueno Station. - English speaking front desk staff, minimal communication mishaps. - Strong wifi signals on all floors and areas, good speed as well. - CHEAP!!!
- The smell. Though expected, the mixture of cigarette smoke and body odour lingered even in the non-smoking capsules. - The capsules themselves are not air conditioned. Quite hot inside in the summer season during which I stayed. - Not the most hygienic. Patrons walk around barefooted on the carpet floors, you might want to wear socks.
Good infrastructure Location Wi-fi even in the capsules Clean
Everything from comfort, ease of check-in, cleanliness and very strong wifi signal.
people smoking (you have to walk pass this area to the shower).
Extremely efficiënt way of lodging when traveling light.
Your luggage can be kind of hassle if you take more than just an overnight suitcase
Location is good - near Ueno station.
Small capsule, very closely. Very stuffy. Dirty toilets. Smoking in the hostel. This hostel is worse than in this price category.
The wifi signal was strong. THe staffs were polite and courteous and as a added bonus, speaks English. Facilities were clean.
There issn't a way to control the temperature inside each capsule so it tends to get stuffy if you lower the blinds of your capsule entrance.
The staff was very nice and made room for my big suit case in the back room. there are vending machines with filling hot meals available. There was great free wifi!
The little air vent in the capsule wasn't enough. It was a bit too hot and stuffy, and i wished i could have turned up the speed of the ventilation.
The common room is filled with smoke and you can smell it all the way to the reception. The staff promised me like every other hostel I was in I could leave my lougage after checkout for a few hours but then when I checked out they said they didn't agree to keep it!!!!!!! None of them knew English as well. Just go to the capsule hotel on the same building on the other side just 100 yen more is worth at least English speaking staff.
Amazing location near Ueno, reliable wifi and good price. :)
Services clean and sauna bath
Smell of smoke
+ location is great, just next to the ueno station and there are many shops, restaurant and bar around + unlimited shower and sauna while staying in here + wifi is fast
- staff cant speak english so its a bit hard to explain something - i have trouble to sleep at night because of the noise (train and other guest) and very hot inside the capsule
I loved how different the experience was, we are from houston, Texas and don't have anything like a capsule hotel. It was a great stay. Loved the bath room and sauna.
The staff was excellent and tried there best to understand but some of them didn't speak English. However they helped us with anything we asked for.
Everything, it was perfect. Suana, hot tub, massage chairs, vending machine dinners and alcohol, good location what more could one ask for
Nothing. Absolute value for money
If you are up to try the Japanese traditional bath house, the this is the place. Good location, food, sightseeing and connectivity.
People smoke on the floor below, the stench can still be smelled until the floor above.
Location , staff, price.
This place was awesome! The capsules are clean and comfortable, there is a sauna and a hot bath pool and a small cold bath pool. Plus they have bathing stations and separate grooming areas/stations. Free wi-fi, you get a locker for your stuff and they store your luggage. Also the location is great because it is close to a train terminal with many train lines and an express train to and from the airport. At the time of my stay i was lucky to have a girl that spoke English at the reception counter, she was so helpful and saved my life because I speak no Japanese.
Smoke, the sleeping areas are officially no smoking areas but because the doors are open on all floors the smoke from the main lounge where smoking is allow makes its way to the sleeping areas. Also it is a bit loud in the capsules with people snoring, having the tv on or just talking on the phone at 3am. The smoke and people on the phones late at night bothered me a little bit but I was able to ignore it and fall asleep.
For $25 dollars a night this place is a steal. The sauna and baths are great, and the capsules are clean and comfortable. WiFi was very fast and always worked, and the staff stored my ski stuff no issue before I went to Hokkaido.
It's a little smokey. Didn't bother me but I know it'd bother some people.
Although the living quarters was non smoking, the smoke rises up to give the area and your clithes that cigarette stench
It's a cheap and located just a five minute walk from Ueno Station, in a bustling neighborhood.
There were no foreigners, so I really did feel an outsider. It was also not clean and it all looked little old.
smoking! no place for luggage next to capsule
