Great location to explore Tokyo. We did lots of walking, but JR line and subway easily accessible. Very clean and traditional. We had an ensuite room. Recommend going to breakfast early. Plenty of food, it just gets busy.
- Location - Walking distance from Akihabara and Ueno - Big rooms (by Tokyo standards) - Spa on the roof
Staff are very friendly however, the facilities does not support them as The hotel is very old.
There was Lot of Small insects moves in the floor Simi liar to black cricits
The hotel is within walking distance to the Yushima subway station. Breakfast daily was a plus, especially with children. Onsen was nice to have. Hotel set up Takyubin luggage service for us so that we didn't have to lug our large suitcases to the Ueno Keisei Skyliner. Overall friendly staff. TIPS: bring yen to Japan, purchase a portable router/Wi-Fi for getting around and use Hyperdia.com to plan your subway ride, visit Daiso for omiyagi, if you see a snack that you like, buy it because you might not find it elsewhere, 7-11 had decent late night eats and will microwave the food for you, try the ramen shop Yushima Ramen nearby, there is a Don Quijote nearby (about 10 minute walk) where you can purchase necessities at a decent price and Japanese snacks too, if you are a baseball fan, go to the Mizuno store and watch a Yomiuri Giants game - buy a cap there because back home in the states, it costs bucks, if you're into that kind of thing. Otherwise, enjoy Nihongo!
One of their day shift front desk staff, older woman could not speak English. It was frustrating. Not even skoshi English. Mosquitos near front entrance. Japanese style bath tub was plugged. Was told that they would fix it. After 3 days it was never fixed. Water had a slow drain and I can't imagine how housekeeping could clean it properly without all of the water draining at once.
Good sized rooms Free coffee, wifi and internet PCs in Lobby Great location close to stations for site seeing
Sits on top of a hill - tiring in 35' temperatures
Traditional interiour, great location near Ueno. Very friendly staff, expecially in restaurant.
A bit outdated bathroom.
Cockroach in the room. Old mattresses and musty cupboards. Room floor board bouncy and noisy.
Good atmosphere, Authentic Japanese style room
Wifi signal not available in the room Little bit far from the station
A bit old facilities in room. We stayes 3 nights. 1 night in different roin at 2nd floor, water did not run well in the bathroom.
Cozy hotel with excellent service from the staff! Near several JR and metro stations, which gave us more choices of travelling around Tokyo. House cleaning is excellent too~
The slope? Haha! Not the best lugging luggages up! Wished they had a bigger variety for breakfast. Cereals will be nice too~
Traditional beds and interior
Didn't like the bathroom - very old
Ceiling light has got so much dust on it ! Removing mold in bath rooms would make big difference.
The traditional feel of the rooms
A bit on the small size for someone who is 1.85cm tall!
I loved the hotel's traditional theme and its proximity to the Ueno area, which bears a lot of history itself. The free coffee in the lobby was a plus, and the staff were incredibly accommodating and warm.
The onsen was under renovation, and the internet was so weak there might as well have not been any internet. It was hard to get in contact with friends and family while I was there because of that.
Love the traditional theme and the hotel's proximity to Ueno. Free coffee in the lobby was a plus. Tea room in the lobby was so relaxing for doing my work, and the staff were extremely nice.
The onsen was under construction. The internet was too weak that there might as well have not been internet.
Friendly staff, correct breakfast, and nice location between Ueno and Akihabara (but you have to walk a bit). It has a lot of charm if you choose the right room (our second time there). Great onsens (indoor and outdoor) at the last floor.
You have to walk a little bit to reach there (15 minutes minimum). But you can find taxis easily (in case of heavy baggage or rain). Everything seems a bit old.
The room is big enough and I like the japanese stytle.
Very cheap, great location close to akihabara and convenience stores, short walk to two train stations, rooftop outdoor onsen, mini fridge, powerful air conditioner, very courteous staff, curfew only between 2:30am and 4:30 am
individual shower area drain clogged quickly (get around this by using the vastly superior/better stocked onsen bathing facilities on the 6th floor)
Nothing much as our stay with Edoya is not a good experience.
Not sure who is at "fault". Booking.com mentioned quadruple room. Edoya gave us 3+1 room type. Hardly any space to stand given 2 growth up children. Some form of mis-representation is taking place here. Staff generally not helpful, lack the passion to serve - unlike the typically Japanese service culture.
The free breakfast is good for the start of the day.
The facilities is a bit old.
Staff very friendly. Room was spacious. Located very near the Underground station. Enjoyed our stay.
Loved the friendly Japanese atmosphere. We were astounded at the spaciousness of our room, we had thought all of Tokyo had micro-rooms. The futons were comfortable and we enjoyed the Japanese bath.
Personally I would've enjoyed more European options for breakfast, that's a little early in the day for cultural adventures.
Reasonable price Conveniently located near Tokyo Metro stations Nice Japanese-style room, with separate sitting area apart from bedroom Courteous, helpful staff Noon check-in and check-out times Availabliliy of onsen/bath on roof level Breakfast included - with both Japanese and non-Japanese food options Refrigerator in room Air conditioner in room
Some areas of wear and tear which could use repair, such as water leaks in rooftop bath area and basement restaurant Location on hill - tiring to carry luggage up to the hotel Breakfast food availability spotty at times, especially for non-Japanese food items Wifi not available in rooms (accessible only in lobby and in hallway of each floor)
Located in a quiet neighborhood close to Akihabara and Ochanomizu station. Friendly staff and large room for Tokyo.
We were greeted by a cockroach as we entered our room. We thought it was just bad luck since nothing else happened during our 3-day stay. The bathroom needs urgent repairs as it took 15 minutes to shower properly: it was either cold or boiling water. The breakfast room is rather small and you will have to be patient to get to the buffet.
