First Cabin Kyoto Karasuma  

I wanted to try a capsule but being claustrophobic, I can only try First Cabin. This is a clean place, with all the necessities and really close to the station and Kyoto attractions.

But... I think the air is not clean, cause I kept coughing in the middle of the night and never have a good sleep. For the price, I could have stayed in any business hotel, really... So well, I guess give this a try out of curiosity but nothing else. There's no charging station in the capsule (naturally) so either rent a charger from the front desk or be cheap (like me) and charge in the bathroom. I think this is the deal breaker for me as I have a lot of gadgets.

I stayed in the "superior" capsules. I loved everything: friendly and helpful staff, facilities arranged in a compact space but in a very efficient and comfortable layout. The location is ideal: halfway between the Castle and the University of Kyoto campus on one side, and the old Gion district on the other side.

At first the quietness was a little strange but after a while you soon get use to it. Even for a capsule, I felt very safe and secure. The front of house staff were very friendly and helpful. Great for getting around Kyoto and would stay here again. 8 days went very quickly and I felt happier here than staying in a ryokan. As a solo female traveller, I would recommend this type of accomdation anyday. Great wifi connection in cabin so I was able to keep in touch with everyone in my home country. Facilities were of the highest standards and once you get use to the total blackout conditions, warren like corridors and quiet, its a good experience to have. Very good security with door locks and different floors for sexes. Fresh bedding, towels and nightware each day but due to material I took my own nightware.

Sometimes the cabin was too hot and other guests do snore but take ear plugs and light clothes to wear in bed.

Location/Ambience/Modern/Clean

Card key(unnecessarily redundant) since there is no room door but just a curtain which can't be locked according to the category of the accommodation facility. Quite poor sound insulation if you don't keep very calm in the chamber.

It;s very clean and confort adn transfer-friendly.

a little anoying

Everything was clean and service was excellent. For a "capsule" hotel this really works well and definatelly beats my few stays at a hostel. I have never stayed at a "capsule" before, but the tiny room with a real and comfortable bed works well. While I did not try out the 32 inch flat screen TV, I thought it marvelous that each cabin had one. My evening time was spent emailing, aided by a direct internet cable connection. Intially the staff lent me a cable (I forgot to bring my own) but I easily purchased one cheaply at BicCamera based on staff response to my question. Some people might be concerned that there is no locking door, just a curtain, and thus, you comfort at night in regard to noise depends on your neighbors. In my four night stay I never had any noise that disturbed me as all visitors were very conscious and considerate as requested by hotel policy. All the toilet and shower facilties are located separately so there is no sound from them. Each cabin has a "safe-drawer" with a combination lock. In the US, I might be concerned that someone could break into this drawer but in Japan, such crimes are unheard of. Here people leave their bicycles on the street unlocked even in large cities with no danger of theft. Visitors to the Cabin might be concerned by privacy but I never had any instance that bothered me whatsoever. The shower room and toilets had individual stalls. I picked the Cabin based on price and availability but it is also conveniently located 200 feet from a subway entrance and 300 feet from a convenience store but yet is on a relatively quiet side street. Being the first time I stayed in a "capsule" type hotel, I was not sure what to expect but for me this stay was a completely positive experience that I would recommend to anyone who does not need a large or quite private space. I would, however, recommend the larger cabin that I had out of their two sizes of cabins avialable.

No real downsides. I might note that one can buy a breakfast at the Cabin, but it seemed to be quite limited so I (being frugal) I just grabed some sweet rolls from the local convenience store (or the bakery next to the convenience store) along with a carton of cold sweetened milk coffee that I soon became addicted to. The staff had somewhat limited abilty with English but their willingness to help in any possible way was impressive! I would never bother to write a commentary this long for a place I did not like!

Much cleaner and more private than I was anticipating for a "capsule hotel" style place. I had a terrible day in Koyto so ended up checking right after 3pm. Staff was very police and helpful, but I was impressed with the space itself. I had a smaller unit and found it extremely clean and comfortable. I in fact kind of wanted to take my pillow with me when I checked out the next day! I would definitely stay at this facility again.

I wish the wireless internet extended into the cabins instead of just in the lobby. There was wired internet in the cabin, but my ipad could not connect. I ended up going down to the lobby/lounge for an hour or so, but would have been more comfortable in my cabin itself.

Esta muy bien situado cerca de una parada de metro y andando cerca de Gion. Muy limpio y la verdad que bastante cómodo para ser un hotel cabina, tienes baños con duchas y bañeras, y te dan todo lo necesario para tu higiene, desde cepillo de dientes, pasta, manopla, toallas, zapatillas para ir por el hotel. Yo la verdad lo que me encontré fue mejor de lo que esperaba, eso si no es hotel para una larga estancia.

立地は京都の中心地、かつ地下鉄駅のすぐ近く。通常カプセルホテルの料金帯ながら、高さのある個室で快適に- 過ごせました。各種アメニティも無料で良心的です。

Nas cabines menores, falta espaço para deixar as malas, que acabam sendo deixadas na portaria.

Vraiment un très bon rapport qaulité prix. Très propre. Personnel tres sympa. Super fonctionnel.

J ai adoré! Le rapport qualité prox est excellent. La firts cabine étant plus spacieuse que la business cabine on a presque l impression d etre dans une mini chambre. De plus un spa dans tel type d hotel c est le must.

Les cabine n étant pas isolée le moindre passage dans les couloirs est audible.

Le personnel est serviable et autant le dire, classe. Les capsules sont bien belles, équipées d'un télévision et d'un coffre-fort entre autres.

Tout est parfait, vraiment si séjourner à Kyoto durant plusieurs jours, il faut essayer cet hôtel. Bien sûr je le conseille essentiellement aux voyageurs individuels ou entre ami(e)s.

駅の出口からも近くて便利でした。 チェックイン前と後で荷物を預かってもらえたので大変助かりました。 室内もきれいでした。 また利用したいです。

アコーディオンカーテンなので当然ですが、他の部屋の物音が良く聞こえました。 逆もそうだと思います。 このサイトを見ると国外からの利用者が多い割には、日本語の表示しかないところが多く感じました。

こちらの下調べ不足でした。とても良い場所で、きれいな設備、丁寧な接客という点では問題ありませんでした- 。

施設の性格上、部屋の仕切りがアコーディオンカーテンのみで鍵もかからない中で寝るという事を知りませんで- した。結果、あまり休めませんでした。次回からは普通のホテルにします。

Es un hotel céntrico,muy bien comunicado, el personal es amable y muy servicial, ideal para personas que viajan solas.

El aire acondicionado a veces era mas caliente que el exterior

Esta muy apañado, las cabinas son grandes y los servicios y duchas están muy limpios y cuidados, hay de todo y se duerme muy tranquilo. Altamente recomendable, yo estuve varios días y no hubo ningún problema.

No hay puertas!, Las cabinas se cierran con una cortina y puede dar cierta sensación de inseguridad, sin embargo hay un cajón de seguridad y bueno, es Japón. Aunque en la noche te puede entrar la paranoia de que alguien abra tu cortina jajaja.
