The rooms feel a bit clinical and the hall ways feel like you are in a sci fi movie. It was noisy some nights due to other people ....packing and unpacking bags and zippers opening and closing all night- these things are very noisy and guests should be given notices reminding them that these actions can be quite annoying when others are trying to sleep.
Comfortable and clean and felt reasonably secure.

Bad/No Wi-Fi connection at some rooms, require to walk stairs to access front desk and shower room if you live on 3rd(lower floor).
Clean towel, slippers, toothbrush and clothes(for around the staying guests area). Password locked safety box in capsule.

easy to find location, good dining close at hand. Staff are excellent.

The atmosphere is a bit cold and and because every cabin has only a curtain instead of a door you can really hear everything from the people sleeping next to you. There is a locker under the bed, but I still had to leave my backpack in the room and did not feel completely safe because there is a long corridor and everyone can technically access your cabin. However, I guess you could leave your bag at the reception if you really want to. Everything went well though.
I liked the position, very close to subway and only two stops from Kyoto train station. The place is very clean and they provide you with everything, all the toiletries and even a pyjama. It feels like staying in a normal hotel for all the comforts you have. The washing machine worked perfectly and I managed to wash and dry my clothes in 2 hours.

Bed was pretty uncomfortable, Wifi was very weak in the cabin and technically useless, but did work in the lounge area, shower located on a different floor, of course not at all soundproof due to curtains instead of doors so you can hear every movement of your neighbor, but to be fair this was known beforehand
Very clean and modern facilities, spacious cabin with flatscreen TV, and safety box under the bed, friendly staff, great location (two subway stops from Kyoto station, located almost next to exit), cheaper than hotel but a bit more privacy than a hostel, can recommend for a short stay of one or two nights

Interesting concept where you sleep in a cabin with a tv and a table.

wifi is not the best in the cabin
April 20, 2015
a little bit pricy
different style for sure, friendly staff, clean! shampoo, cleansing, hair dryer all there! good locations too!

The vending machine is not available within the cabin spaces.
- Fast check-in and check-out. - All necessary things are equipped ( towels, shampoo, clothes, slippers, toothpaste and toothbrush ). They are all free. - very clean.

No bad experience, but this is not a place for families. Beds were hard, but that is normal for Japan.
The First Cabin was a great choice for our type of travel. We were traveling as a group of female friends ages 30 to 40. We were not looking for extravagance. This type of hotel was a different experience for us. Set up as pods, but with room to stand. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The rooms only have curtains for doors, but there is a locking drawer and the front desk will hold your luggage when you are out of the hotel. We did not try the breakfast, you need to order breakfast ahead of time. The hotel is within walking distance of Shinjo Subway station. We walked from Kyoto station and walked to the Gion district and the Imperial Palace. We also took taxis and trains as needed or wanted to visit other tourist sites. On our last day, we checked out but were able to leave our bags at the front desk until we went to leave the city.

Location was great. Bed and facilities are very good. It include everything that you need (shampoo, soap, towel, hair dryer, lotion, facial wash, etc.). They offered umbrellas in case of rain.

It is hard to connect with other solo travellers as the only common area is the lounge at reception floor, the cabin floor is really dark with all closed curtains so not that social.
Location is good. Had the 'superior' cabin which was really big and luxureous. Flatscreen TV.

I like the experience in sleeping in a capsule like room. Had several bathrooms/restroom you can use. Clean.
April 14, 2015
Bed and pillow is too hard
Good location, near subway, close to shopping place, has their own coin laundry, clean
April 13, 2015
The bed could be more comfortable, but if you don't plan on staying too long, I don't see it being a big issue.
It was exactly what it needed to be for a one-night stay: clean, quiet, and the bathroom was stocked with the essentials (shampoo, conditioner, etc.) as well as cosmetic stuff, which I thought was a nice touch. The staff was also very polite.

Breakfast for 300 yens, definitely not worth it for some dry croissants and industrial pastries. No bread & jam, nothing japanese.
Bathroom is awesome and grooming and hygiene products from shiseido are put at your disposal^to use during your stay!
April 10, 2015
it gets to be a little too noisy but with so many other great qualities I didnt mind
loved the showers...
April 9, 2015
True Japanese experience. Clean, functional, comfortable and good value.
April 7, 2015
The cleanliness and the strictness on maintaining quiet
April 6, 2015
The ability to sleep in one of these spots is very limited. People sneeezing and snorting quite loudly, alarms going off at 5am. Everything is closeby. Its a nicer version of a hostel, but it was the only reasonably affordable place in Kyoto.
The price and location were good. The facilities were clean, and the staff were accomodating.
April 5, 2015
Some staff was sort of rude, but in general, service is okay for Japanese standard.
Hostel is very close to both subway and bus, as well as the Nishiki market and stores which are few minutes walk away. Cabins are clean, showers can be used anytime.

It is like hotel not narmal capsule hotel. Though it is more expensible than other capsule hotel. Location is fantastic.
