Very happy with overall experience. Shuttle bus was great.
The pillows were not at all comfortable.
Fukashiso in Matsumoto is a very nice Ryokan where you can appreciate the traditional Japanese lifestyle at reasonable price. Great friendly staff ! From Fukashiso, thanks to its shuttle service with the train station, you can organize 1 day visits to Kamicochi National Park ,Kiso valley old post towns and Matsumoto Castle I highly reccomend a Fukashiso experience
The staff at Fukashiso were so incredibly kind to me and I can't thank them enough for their help and hospitality during my stay there. It was a wonderful and authentic experience that I will never forget. I can't thank them enough for everything! Arigato!
It's a little far from Matsumoto station, but the staff is so helpful for free pick-ups so it's not that much of a problem.
The 8 course jtraditional dinner was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We even got a little gift when we left.
Wifi only works in the common area
Wonderful staff- very helpful. We'll be returning again for sure.
A good base for exploring the nearby area and Kiso Valley. This is a traditional ryokan and yet it operates as a well-oiled machine. There seem to be a vast number of staff, all of whom are incredibly friendly and helpful - there was always an English speaking member of staff on hand to help. There also always seems to be someone on hand to drive you where you need to go. This is important as the ryokan is a fair way out of town. We stayed in January when it was freezing outside (-9 one morning) and it did get cold in the room as the other half didn't want to sleep with the aircon on! But the onsens are wonderful and will cook you nicely whenever you need warming up. The food here is also very good and there is a very wide choice. Huge amount of choice at the breakfast buffet.
A bit far from Matsumoto town centre, but with the shuttle getting around was easy. The pickled fish guts at the breakfast buffet looked rather unappealing.
Location, free pick-up at JR Matsumoto. Staff were so kind. Food great. Very relaxing place to stay...onsen, room.
We loved the fact that it was a purely traditional ryokan. A beautiful room and a lovely young woman at reception who spoke English.
It is way out in the suburbs and took about 10 minutes in the taxi to get there. The shuttle service picked us up on the day we arrived and took us to town one day but was not available to take us to the station on the day we left because it was before 9 am.
The staff couldn't have been friendlier. This Ryokan is a great authentic experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. It is reasonably priced as Ryokans go and feels like a little piece of Japenese luxury. The location is slightly out of town, but the Staff will happily taxi you about, to and from the train station, and drop you at the sights if required. Don't miss out on Dinner here either. A great way to try some foods you may not have got around to ordering from a menu.
