Hotel Fukudaya  

The location is very near Shibuya shopping area, at much lower cost than the Shibuya-hotels. The people are very friendly and do their best to help.

It is a bit hard to find without a good map. The Japanese room has seen its best days: the paper screen had dark stains on the paper and the toilet was rather smelly.

Really lovely staff. They speak english which was really good after 16hrs of travel. The rooms were very comfortable. Room was a pretty good size. Had no problems with noise from outside or from other guests. Pretty good location. Only 15 mins from Shiduya station which means it's connected to everywhere in Tokyo. Also nice to come back to the hotel and have hot water for tea waiting. A lovely touch.

Only one shower for the floor which didn't turn out to be a problem while I was there but could be an issue if it was busier or was in a rush.

Not like the pictures, just a regular small room--not much of a "Japanese feel. Very very difficult to find: a good map would be extremely helpful. I was not sold the room at the current exchange rate, but at the rate which was in effect when I booked it a month earlier, but it was not put on my card until the night I stayed. In that sense I was overcharged since the dollar had improved in value. Even though I had not arrived until after 12 midnight, I was still expected to leave by 10 A.M.--not really a problem but irritating. I thought they should have extended it until 12 noon at least. Late because it took so long to find the place.

Really nice stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. 15 min walk from Shibuya station Bus to Shibuya station every minute just outside.. Very good value for the money.Nice spa.

Service was ok and the warm atmosphere.

(1) There was smoke of tobacco all over the hotel. The smoke came partly inside the hotel room , too. This irritated my briething and I did not feel it nice. 煙草の煙は廊下などで大変強くて部屋の中まで住み込みました。タバコはあのような小さいホテルで禁煙した方- がよいではないでしょうか。 (2)There was no refrigerator or fridge in the room was very inconvenient. 部屋の中は冷蔵庫がなくてとても不便でした。

Traditional Japanese guest-house type hotel. Nice peaceful location with a small but nice garden in front. Rather good english speaking charming elderly staff with the full amount of Japanese service and style. Nice 15 min walk to Shibuya Station, easy to find your way.

The room did not have a water boiler. NB: If you leave the hotel but will return, take good marks where the Hotel Fukudaya entrance is, because you can not see it from the street.

I really liked the hospitality of the staff, and the rooms are very traditional looking, whether they are beds or futons. And the price is usually pretty decent considering how close it is to Shibuya and other popular areas. AND there is a bus nearby you can ride to Shibuya in like 3 minutes!

The bathrooms and shower are in a separate area, but I think that's not such a bad thing really.

This was my fourth stay at Hotel Fukudaya. With each one, the quality has diminished. Still, the price and amazing location - a five minute walk to central Shibuya - drew us back this time. But the smell in our room - a dank one of rotten turnips - made us cut out trip short, we just couldn't relax in that room, it was so horrible.

Great little authentic Japanese hotel. Shared Shower is on second floor which can be used at all times. Bath (Onsen type) can only be used at certain times, night and morning. Hotel closes its front doors at 11 so you will need to ask for the key code to get back in after this time. Very nice little hotel. Was very happy with my stay here.

A little difficult to find. Even the taxi driver found it difficult to get there. But once you are there and walk around its very easy to walk to Shibuya. The walk maybe a little far is carry luggage so i would suggest a taxi from Shibuya. It will cost $1000 yen.

Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were good. Quiet.

There was a curfew (had to be in in 12:30) The bath was only open 6pm-11pm.

The Japanese style room is really impressive! It is great to get a chance to experience staying and sleeping on futon. Room is clean, staff is friendly.

It is quite far away walking to shibuya station. if you wish to take a bus, JPY210 per way, the bus station is just near by the hotel. There is a bit of smell in the room but not really strong anywhere.

Position near Shibuya station and the great classical style

We stayed at the Japanese Style twin room. It was super comfortable, clean, and had all the utilities needed (bathroom, shower, beds, closets, T.V., and table). The staff were very friendly and spoke english. They even helped call our other hotel to make sure we could pay via credit card instead of yen. There was also free wi-fi in our room! We used it a lot. The experience and affordability is definately worth booking a stay. I only wish we would've stayed for a longer period of time! I recommend this place, and will book a stay here next time I visit Japan! :)

The only down side was that it was slightly further away from the city. But, on the other side, this made it feel more pleasant even though it was a slightly further walk. It was not a bad walk though. You pretty much stay on the side of the freeway and it takes you all the way to Shibuya station. If you don't feel like walking, catching a cab is pretty easy right outside the hotel. Oh, and there is also a bus that runs by the hotel. If you want to take a cab from the station to the hotel it will cost you 810 yen, which is a little over $10.

Even if your website said that we can pay with visa or crédit card, they accept only cash witch is not good because it is a lot of cash!

Although it is a 10 minute walk up a hill from Shibuya station, and rather difficult to find the first time, we are happy we stayed here. The neighbourhood is excellent! Quiet enough to get a good nights sleep but just a few minutes down the road you have awesome cute little sake/other bars and lovely small restaurants. It's the best part of Shibuya in my opinion - away from all the neon madness glitz and glam. (Which is cool for a few hours but maybe a bit much to stay in the heart of). If you want a little bit of an idea to what its like to stay in traditional Japanese accom, but can't afford a Ryokan - this is a good budget alternative.

It feels budget- because it us. We had a room with a private bathroom and the slight ammonia smell could be smelled in the room on entering. The bathroom is tiny and everything is so short - we hit our heads several times (ok so we're both tallish). The pillows are filled with sand/ beads in the japanese style rooms - very hard for us not used to them. I slept without a pillow. Most of the staff were friendly but with limited English. I found one non-japanese staff member to be quite abrupt and unwelcoming, he needs to learn to smile and didn't embrace the japanese hospitialty we came to expect.
