It's not as busy as Tokyo or Osaka but is not lacking in places of interest and dining options. It's very easy to get around just as in other cities in Japan. The underground stations in Gion and Tenjin were a sight in itself. The interiors are not like typical train stations. There were intricately designed iron grills in the ceiling and there were lots of merchandise and food to check out.
It was fun dining at a yatai stall. The owners were very friendly and one of them patiently explained to us the menu that did not have any English translation. The food was fresh and really tasty.
One diner at the yatai stall who is a local suggested a good ramen place. It's Ganso Akanoren Setchan Ramen in Tenjin. She said Ichiran is expensive and "locals do not go there". There was a short queue when we got there around 11:30am the next day. We just waited for about 10 minutes to get a table. We were not disappointed with the food at all; taste and price wise. When we left at 12:30pm, there were about 20 people in line.
It was unfortunate that the Fukuoka Castle Ruins was closed for some work to prepare the place for the Sakura Festival later this month so we did not see it. We visited the Kusida Shrine, Team Lab Forest, Sanrio Characters Dreaming attraction, Ohori Park, Canal City. We went on a day trip to Hiroshima to learn more about history and we came out more educated.

I enjoyed Fukuoka as you get the Japanese City vibe in a slower more relaxed pace. It has so much to offer such as food, sights and shopping. A must visit for anyone who wants to visit Japan. Did I also say, that the people are also very friendly?

We enjoyed the easy train trip to the reclining buddha.
We enjoyed the easy train trip to the reclining buddha. We also visited the Kyshu National Museum, a very impressive structure but more difficult to reach by public transportation. Public transportation from the airport was cheap and easy. We left the second day for Yufuin but next time we will spend more time in Fukuoka.

Fukuoka is an great destination for foodies- although the famous yattai street vendors are over-rated and a tad expensive. The central district of Hakata is a lively party town. Taxis a plentiful and cheap, but we mostly used hired bicycles to get around, which is cheaper still and very practical for non-lazy people. For day trips, there's plenty to see in the surrounding area and for longer trips, there's even more to do in the rest of Fukuoka.
We liked many aspects of GRAND BASE Haruyoshi. The room was spacious, much more than usual for Japanese hotels, particularly at this price point. We also appreciated the living room, kitchen, cooking utensils, and laundry machine. The ample electricity outlets were a great convenience. The hotel's location was a major highlight - it's ideally positioned in the city center, a short 15-minute walk to Hakata station, and just a 5-minute walk to Canal City, with a plethora of restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
The hotel was located very close to Hakata station, making travel between cities, within Fukuoka, and to and from the airport very convenient.
The hotel dealt with my requests very promptly and better than expected. I requested for rooms to be in close proximity and they gave us 4 adjacent rooms, better than any other hotel has done for us.
The room sizes are decent, and cots were provided as requested. We enjoyed our stay there.
The service staff was excellent, helping us quickly with all our requests.
Great value for money hotel opposite from the Canel City Hakata shopping mall which is massive. The hotel itself is exceptionally clean and comfortable and definitely exceeded expectations. Very centrally located in the Gionmachi area and about a short 7min walk from the main JR Hakata Station or Gion local train station if coming via Fukuoka airport.
The rooms were relatively spacious and very clean. Equipped with fridge and mini bar
Staff were all extremely nice as well. Would recommend
Great location! , very easy to access Subway and in such a few minutes walking distance to Kushida Shrine, shopping street, convenient stores, supermarket, Canal City and much more.
I didnot have a chance to try breakfast but I do love their big and comfy bed. Reception was always helpful. The daily cleaning service was also very professional.
If I have a chance to go revisit Fukuoka, I will definitely stay at this hotel and try their famous breakfast line :)
The location is really convenient and close to Hakata station. And if you plan to go other Kyushu city from Hakata, the train and bus station is close as well. And there're a lot of famous local cuisine restaurant nearby, it's also easy to find something to eat. Except for the location, the room space is bigger than other Japan hotel. My sister and I can open 2 30 inch luggage in the same time and still have place to walk around in the room.
Away from the busy fukuoka center, corky but somehow quiet nice facility, deceiving image from a love hotel, close to Ohori park and many “local” Izakaya 🏮 where we could just walk in without reservation and find friendly hosts and guests willing to talk to. Spacious room, nice bathroom settings, unlimited options to order costumes and food to browse for fun 😉
We were able to leave our luggage before checkin to explore the city lightly.
This is more of a business hotel, so the rooms are tiny and cramped, with everything controlled by a tablet. But we didn't come to Fukuoka to stay in our room. The room was clean, with nice amenities, and the bath was nice. The free evening drinks were okay, not great, but what was surprising was the very good breakfast buffet at the hotel. It's also well situated for getting to Hakata Station and exploring the area.
This location is close HAKATA Station.
Near the hotel has a lot of conbini restaurant and department store.
Hotel is most value for traveller.
Cheap and clean , Staff know in English language.
Can leave your luggage if you check out and travel around then get it up in this day.
And can leave your luggage if you check out and check in again when you travel another city and get back to same hotel.
The hotel is a work of art.
Rooms were 💯
I love their pajamas too.
The public bath was beautiful and relaxing.
It is usually my go to after a long day.
Staff we’re accommodating and they work efficiently.
Tsutsumi San from the concierge helped me with most of the things I needed. She’s good with what she does.
it is a place that I would love to come to when in Hakata or Fukuoka.
The location is perfect. Close to Hakata station, which is one of the main hubs in the city. And it location is easy to find, by Google map.
Check-in was very smooth and fast, and the night employee went through all the necessary information for checking in.
The hotel provides all one needed from amenities til pajamas.
Japanese style breakfast.
Good location near Nakasukawabata subway only 2 stop from Hakata station and 1 stop from Tenjin shopping hub. Only short walk to the canal and famous Yatai food stall.
Staffs are nice and very helpful.
Free hot and cold beverage provided. I love morning granita (pineapple one). Will definitely be back here when visit Fukuoka next time.
First is Location where underground subway is just in front of the hotel going to Fukuoka Airport.
Drinkable water in the bathroom. Big tv screen. Soft white comforter. Adjustable heater of the room when it’s extremely cold during December. Complete set of bathing stuff and I love the hair conditioner which is sooo good for my hair.
Stayed here for 2 nights. A renovated hotel that looked trendy and modern. Location is excellent as the airport subway is just beside the hotel. Easy access to Hakata and Tenjin. Lots of eateries nearby as well. Walkable distance to street food by the river side. If you love to have a drink, the lounge is a good place to hang around
(1) Our room has a washing machine/dryer! This is so conveient because we no longer had to leave our room when doing the laundry, and we can do it pretty much all the time. (2) The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. This is common in Japan, but I really felt it here. (3) Checkout was a breeze. (4) Hotel was near Hakata Station
Absolutely bonkers view of Fukuoka, with a great location that's easy to get to from Hakata station. Beds were incredibly comfy, air conditioning with a spacious room and bathroom, just an all around amazing hotel. A touch pricier than other possible hotels,, but easily well worth the price point. Highly recommended!
It’s about 7 mins walk from JR Tenjin Station and about 10 mins from Metro Tenjin St. (Fukuoka airport line).
The room has main amenities, but the things like coffee, tea bags, or face wash/lotion/milk should be taken at the hotel lobby. But it’s widely spread tendency for most economy hotels now.
It was close to the airport, but I arrived at night and with a big luggage it may be little too far to walk. Next morning I took a bus to Hakata train station. The bus stop was just around the corner. Nice big bath near the front desk which was better than other business hotels.
Very good hotel for a reasonable price. I highly recommend staying here. While traveling Japan, this is probable the best affordable hotel I've stayed at. Rooms are very clean, A/C working, nicely decorated. Good central location downtown Fukuoka.
Literally the best experience for very cheap! Free Japanese bath, free breakfast and pyjamas. Very modern, beautiful and clean hotel. Held our bags for a day. Amazing service! Also close to JR train station.
