Nice place, good experience with an authentic Ryokan.
One of the onsen was a little small.
The staff are the star of this ryokan. They made me feel like coming home after a long day of exploring in Hakone. Location is very good, easy access to train (just a little bit of a slope) and bus (bus is the better transport when carrying a large suitcase). The futon bed was very comfortable, and I was surprise to have wifi in my room. Food was amazing and staff was very attentive to explain how to eat the different dishes. I talked to some older locals in Tokyo when lining up at one of the museums, and they actually mentioned that this ryokan is very well known to them too.
I stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night. Saturday night was very busy for the ryokan, hence the meals were a bit rushed, and meal times are rather strict, likewise for Sunday morning before guests checkout. Sunday night was better, and staff was clearly more attentive as a result. Though rushed, on both nights the staff are very nice. There is a larger onsen (with shower), and two smaller onsens - the two are alternated between ladies and gents on different hours - it'd be good if the hours are more evenly shared even in the evening after dinner, so I didn't need to rush back to have a shower before dinner time.
Great location 10 min walking from major transport hub in Hakone area Hotel with a history - built by a retired Samurai Excellent food at night with top notch service
Japanese breakfast was ok but many strange things served. Western style was a safer bet this time. The bath (Onsen) was very relaxing and not many people, but felt bit old and needs attention
Everything was wonderful
Great service and food, staff very friendly, very traditional in original building.
nothing is wrong from this shop, it shines in every angle.
it's not an easy walk back to Tonosawa station especially if you have luggage to carry with.
The service and staff were very friendly at Fukuzumiro. There is a couples/family onsen which was a plus. We opted to include dinner and breakfast at the ryokan and both did not disappoint.
Shared toilet, but this was not so much an issue for us.
Traditional building style, location on river, onsen, and the food.
Our hostess The food (and I had food requirements) The view The room
Could hear people upstairs quite clearly Slightly difficult to access Rooms require a fresh coat of paint
Authentic Japanese Ryokan. Experience a wonderful Japanese tradition.
Delicious meals, very nice staff, feel like home.
Very spacious river room with and amazing view. Very personal service. Heaven on earth!
good location. kindness staff. Good value of money.
great onsen very nice dinner Japanese breakfast room very spacious and clean
service not very warm or personal western breakfast not good view out of the window bathroom facilities smelly
Location beside the river with comforting sounds. Dinner and breakfast are excellent as is the service.
The women's toilet on the first floor could use a few more inches of space.
Loved the Japanese experience and looking at the river.
Steep hill from train with luggage. Should have its name in roman script outside.
Staff was incredibly friendly and help. Dinner and breakfast service was amazing.
Able to communicate but some language barriers
Well trained employees. Very good food and good location.
People who have trouble to sleep still need to consider the Old fashion way of these kind of building. B/C the sound-proof is definitely not good.
The garden The temple The food
A but noise in the morning
It felt like going back in time thanks to the preserved interior and attentive service. The food was excellent. Location convenient for travel around Hakone and close to very nice public baths
It was quite a long walk from my room to the shared toilet - not ideal if you need to go during the night
Tradition and high comfort. Best Japanese service!
Simple, but beautiful interior, a nice garden where you can sit down and take in the Japaneseness of the place.
Some foreign guests that did not heed the bathing rules, despite instructions in English in the bathroom.

We had a very relaxing stay here. Very easy to find; less than 10 minutes walk from the station with our cases down a footpath. Lovely large room looking out on the river, the whole place just oozes atmosphere. The meals both breakfast and dinner were spectacular multi and we enjoyed the onsen. Male and female bathe separately, but there's also a private bath where we could bathe together. With such good buses and trains the Hakone National Park is very easily accessible from here. A very restful stay after the liveliness of Tokyo.
The Ryokan is right on a very busy road. But once inside this melted away and any distant traffic noise was drowned out by the sound of the river.
