The location is excellent and staff service is really nice
Location was the best ever, Gion is beautiful. Ryokun is nice, clean and comfy.
Basic room was very basic. Futons were comfy, facilities basic but clean. Ac couldn't be turned up from 20 degrees. Bit of a chilly night
- Reception in the room for the tea ceremony - Location (close to temples and shrine park) - Public bath experience
- No possibility to have a breakfast there (actually, I think some guests had a breakfast, but we could not take it there, even paying for it)
The clean room Friendly staffs Will visit again
This hotell is excellent to stay at if you wish to explore gion. The staff is very good!
Great location, helpful staff, tons of character
service is great, all the staff are well trained and prepared to provide help. The Japanese style room is beautifully decorated and presented. A fantastic start for our trip to Kyoto. The location is close to the major tourist spots. We love the Japanese spa on the ground floor.
Small rooms. Very an unreasonably expensive. Poor value
Great location in Gion. Walk out from the hotel straight into a great area for restaurants, shops and sights.
We were kept awake until 3am on our second night there by very noisy people next door to us. We were in a Japanese style room and the sliding doors were noisy so you could hear every movement next door as well as their shouting and screaming. The hotel asked the people to stop but this continued for some hours despite them asking twice. I know that the hotel can't be responsible for their guests noise levels but the hotel had no real sound proofing. We were 'allowed' to stay an hour beyond our checkout time without charge and were offered a lot of apologies. However, this didn't make up for a lost nights sleep and we had a long day the morning of our leave. I would not return to this hotel based on this experience.
Located right at the entrance to Nene's path (a beautiful narrow flagstone street), it is an oasis of calm. The staff was *astonishingly* helpful, making reservations and recommendations, even contacting restaurants to give them a heads up about my shellfish allergy--which meant my first stress-free taste of tempura! My family (husband and children 5,10) had a Japanese style room, which I highly recommend--the kids loved it, the futons were MUCH more comfortable than the beds at the luxury Tokyo hotel we stayed at later. My parents stayed in a Western room which was fine for them (and probably easier for my Mom to get into and out of bed). Truly a gem.
There was literally nothing negative about our experience.
excellent location, super friendly staff. We stayed in Japanese style room which gave us a taste of culture with comfort we needed. Definitely would recommend to everyone and would stay again if revisiting.
1. Very charming room in Japanes style 2. Location is good. Quit from city noise however, only 5 minutes walk to mainstreet and local bus network, which can take you to all the temples/shrines and Kyoto station. The bus had aircondition. 3. English speaking personel 4. Easy and quick check in process
Nothing bad to say about this hotel.
This is an attractive, comfortable, clean and well-maintained hotel in a great location in the heart of the Gion district, yet within walking distance of public transportation. Staff were highly attentive and courteous.
Beautiful traditional rooms Clean and spacious room Staff was very friendly and helpful Short walking distance to temple Long shopping strip nearby
This ryokan was hard to find within neighborhood. Locals couldn't help us find it.
Walking location of some great places. Japanese style room was novel for us and we enjoyed the different style.
Taxi driver wasn't sure where it was but he rang and got directions
The location is fantastic, right in Gion, and an easy walk to a number of major sites, and great restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Internet services worked very well, which was good for my older son. I would definitely stay their again.
Relaxing in the Japanese style room and bath after tiring day trips
Having to leave !
Excellent courtesy from front desk. Location!!
WIFI was insufficient at times in room
Location was excellent and good value.
The room booked contained pictures of a shared Japanese bath but I was surprised to find that the hotel does not actually have such a bath. I think the pictures were from a sister hotel and I think the bath is only available for certain room plans. This was a bit misleading as we thought we were booking a Japanese style hotel which included a Japanese style bath. The staff were not very professional/helpful on this point and in general, though they were friendly and did speak some English. I think the hiring manager opted for English speakers over Japanese service professionals.
Fantastic location. Extremely helpful and courteous staff, with English-speaking staff at reception. Spacious, clean and quiet room. Would stay again and have already recommended to friends.
The staff are amazing! They are very caring, friendly and able to speak fluent English. Good location, the room is spacious and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to my friends.
Very helpful and enthusiastic staff
No laundry facilities
This place is a real gem. Perfectly located in beautiful Gion, this place has all the comforts of a hotel, but with traditional Japanese style rooms. Wifi and an Apple TV in the room was pretty high tech! The staff were so lovely and helped with any questions we had and even made dinner reservations for us. Best place to stay in Kyoto!
Location, japanese style, size of the rooms, clean
