Guest House Oomiyake  

The owners (husband and wife) were extremely courteous and friendly. They spoke English, French and German. The garden is amazing with 500 year old bonsai pine trees.

This wonderful 400 old restored home is one of the most special places I have ever stayed. Traditional Japanese style accommodation with a very friendly host. Within walking distance of all the major art galleries.

There was nothing wrong with the accommodation. There are a limited number of eating establishments close by.

The place is well situated near the harbour. The breakfast was ok and the staf was very helpful.

It becomes cold sleeping on the floor of a japanese room. Especially in winter/spring. The heating facilleties makes a lot of noice and is not able to make the room warm an cosy night time. Be prepared with warm clotes.

The spacious room, the generosity of the staff, great atmosphere, very helpful and friendly.

Mr. Miyake was very nice. When we complimented him on his home-made fig jam, he gave us a jar to bring home!

We wish there were more Japanese food as opposed to Western food that was served by Mr. Miyake.

Nice and friendly owner, good location, very large rooms in an authentic house, food was very good,everything a very reasonable price. We will definitely recommend this nice Ryokan and the island Naoshima!

The most beautiful ryokan that you can experience for this price. The paintings on the walls are 200 years old, they are stunning . The garden is wonderfull, you can take your breakfast there if the wether is ok. The owner is a gentleman, speaks french and english. This elegant classy house belongs to his family for centuries. By the way, the food is perfect too.

Absolutely wonderful. We didn't realise but the 'Japanese room' is actually three traditional, spacious rooms with tatami mats and beautiful 400 year old paintings on the screen doors. The gardens are beautiful and the owner is so welcoming and even took us to a fireworks display. Highly recommended and we would love to go back.

Totally brilliant experience as we stayed in the old house and had half of a 400 year old ryokan to ourselves, three rooms with paper and painted screens, antiques etc. Lovely garden to walk in. Very hopitable host.

Had to find our futons and duvets in cupboard and make our own beds but this added to the experience in a way.

文化財を一組だけで、味わえるなんて、感激しました。 又、テレビもインターネットも存在しない空間は、人の忘れた気持ちや、関わり方を再度確かめる良い空間だと- 思いました。

底冷えする点が、予想出来ず、少し寒かったです。

Dormir en una casa tradicional japonesa, con una amplia habitación decorada con antiguas pinturas.

Baño de hombres muy sucio. Una lastima que una casa tan bonita esté tan descuidada. Parecía la mejor opción puesto que la Benesse house estaba sin disponibilidad, pero este alojamiento no es de nuestro estilo. Independientemente del alojamiento Naoshima y Teshima es de visita obligada!!

Um legítimo Ryokan a preços acessiveis. Boa localização, embora fique a há uns 40min da área principal dos museus.

貴重な文化庁登録有形文化財を宿泊施設として開放している為、歴史を感じる室内は、宿泊者しか見る事が出来- ない、貴重な体験をさせて頂きました。

文化財を宿泊施設として使用している為、旅なれている人には、良い体験になると思いますが、理解をしていな- いと、違和感を感じるかも知れません。

Classé appartement et en fait une seule pièce pour 4 personnes pas chaleureuse ( éclairage, déco etc) Accueil rapide et très froid . Il n'y avait aucun restaurant ouvert dans le village et personne à qui s'adresser dans la Guest House assez tôt dans la soirée. Cher pour des prestations simplissimes.

une maison japonaise historique accueillante et un personnel d'une amabilité extrême , un très bon souvenir .

Pulizia, casa non fornita di pentole e cose per cucinare. Non c'erano neanche i piatti che abbiamo dovuto chiedere.La rete era molto debole. Il prezzo esagerato per la struttura.

Cadre somptueux et famille accueillante. Situation merveilleuse.

Cadre somptueux mais très vétuste... (style routard). Malheureusement aucun document sur l'histoire de cette maison : époque etc....

It is convenient to the ferry if you know to go to Honmura ferry which only runs infrequently. The garden is very nice. The staff are pleasant.

Naoshima itself is overrated. This guest house may be historic but is old, dirty and has little to offer.

the guesthouse is an amazing old wooden japanese house; our room (actually our three rooms) was extremely spacious; walls covered with old paintings such as you rather feel like being in a museum than in a guesthouse. green tea available in the room. friendly but not very attentive owner.

despite the very traditonal housing our stay in this guesthouse was not really "japanese style". Without any explanation we had to find the futon bedding in one of the room's cupboards and to make our own beds. in comparison with even cheaper japanese guesthouses we stayed in this was very suprising to us and made us feel quite uncomfortable. Some simple things like preparing the futons (or at least show and explain where they are) and providing japanese yukatas would make this guesthouse an amazing and price-worthy stay.

The authentic Japanese style and surroundings were beautiful. Location was great!
