Nori was an excellent host who made sure we had everything we needed. He also made sure we met new friends at his guesthouse! Expect a traditional Kyoto and sharing home experience (we had great tatami room), please keep hotel-like experience for another time... and respect Nori's excellent home.
Excellent and helpful staff! Very clean and comfortable!
This place is a traditional japanese house located in the heart of Kyoto. It has a shared living room which is a really nice place to be and its bathrooms are of high quality. Renting bikes are available for a cheap price and exploring Kyoto by bike is a really nice experience. Besides from that it is just a 5min walk to both main subway lines of Kyoto and several bus stops, so you can explore the city without wasting time walking to transportation. You can get a day-ticket for the bus in the hostel. The owner of the place is super friendly and helpful. He recommended lots of places to visit and made the stay an unforgettable experience. I can fully recommend this place.
The guesthouse is beautiful and very well located. The owner of the place is very helpful and a great person to meet.
The walls of the sleeping area are quite thin, so depending on the other guests it could be a bit noisy.
Staff were very friendly, bathroom was spotless, comfortable bed.
There isn't a door separating the dormitories so anyone can walk into your room at any time.
The owner of the place is a travaller so he knows very well what you need and what you want. The house is completely new and very very clean...it is within the walking distance from center
Hello, I was the first guest from Slovenia and I loved the place so much that I stayed another night. I meet a lot of cool people there also. The owner Nori is a nice young guy and has a cool ritual before you check out ;)...he loves to talk and can give you good advice on interesting streets, places etc. in Kyoto, he has a lot of books with pictures and he is so easy going :) The guest house is in a really nice and very quiet classic japanese neibourhood and the location is near bus, train stops, you have really everything you need there...and the small garden in the back of the common area is so cool in the morning when you drink your coffe or tea :)! You can even rent a bike there or buy a day ticket for the buses in Kyoto. Wifi was strong and reliable. There are a lot of small bars and resturants around, and also the Seven eleven or Lawson convenience stores around the corner. I had just had a great time at Hitsujian. Aleš from Slovenia ;)
lovely and comfortable guesthouse. The host, Nori san is very kind and helpful :] highly recommend
In a beautiful traditional place, you will enjoy a stay where you will have everything you would need ! Very close to metro, bus, and some touristic places, you can appreciate a rest in the living room and meet everyone in the Inn there, sharing funny moments with an owner so nice, and who can tell you many stories about his previous trip ! Hiro-san is always taking care of his customers, and if you ask him, he would give us the best adivse : how to visit Kyoto, the best places, the good moment to go, how to go, ... He is just unbeatable about his city :) What an awesome staying at Hitsujian :)
A cozy and comfortable guesthouse. Several nice local restaurants r around and food will def let u surprised. The host, Mr. Nori, is a nice and warm guy. Good deal for nice quality facilities.
Traditional Japanese style building, so sounds-proofing is a lit bit poor....not really bother me...would suggest bring ear plugs, if care about sound.
A little lacking in privacy
This Guesthouse is great value for money! The location is very accessible from any touristic points, good connection by transport and also easy to access by bike, which you can rent from the hostel. The owner was very helpful, even over his own duty; I really appreciated his effort to help me. Facilities are all you need, so I really recommend staying here!
Very nice place to stay. Good location, very nice atmosphere. Very clean. Bicycles for rent.
Thin walls, so could be a bit noisy at times. Just one bathroom
Great location near the Nijo Castle, kind host very helpful and friendly, traditionnal house with good atmosphere, very clean
may be noisy in the morning because the house is quite small
Love the place nice&comfort...
Friendly environment with friendly staff. Love the place!
nice staff, good location, cheap, traditional Japanese living room.
only one bathroom
This is the nicest place I've stayed in Japan! I loved the building, the room and mostly, the common room with the kotatsu. A very nice atmosphere is created there. The guesthouse is conveniently located close to Nijo castle, the subway station and many bus stops. Moreover, the host, Nori-san, is super nice and he gives you as soon as you arrive a map in which he marks all the interesting places you shouldn't miss. I recommend this place wholeheartedly!
Nothing, I've loved this guesthouse.
Nice Staff and if you like Japanese Manga, you will be the right place to talk with the House Master.
Definitively a great place to stay in Kyoto. We stay there 3 nights. The area is full of small restaurant. The location is perfect for visiting Kyoto, very central. only 10 min walk to train station or bus station. We will definitely stay again if i visit Kyoto again! Thank you very much!
Lovely genuine old wooden townhouse with a cosy atmosphere. The dormitory rooms have great facilities for a dorm: individual light and plug sockets and a heavy curtain to pull around each bed for privacy. The owner is so kind and helpful - wonderful place to stay.
The homey feel of the kitchen and kotatsu table :)
The location is about a 20 minute walk from the middle of Kyoto.
Host was very nice, close to temples, gardens, train station, shops and food. Bikes for hire.
It was one of the best houses I have stayed. All are good. The location is in the middle of the city and the atmosphere is very local. The owner is nice and very helpful. I enjoyed my time there and will come back.
The traditional Japanese stye
access to bath/toilet thru a common area - lack of privacy.
