Hearton Hotel Kyoto    

Great location at the intersection of Kyoto's subways, Karasuma- Oike. 3 minutes walk away from subway exit 1. You can borrow bikes from the hotel, which makes getting around absolutely a pleasure, and Kyoto being mostly flat make it easy to get to some of those spots that are harder to get to on foot. Very reasonable price, we arrived early and they looked after our luggage for us. When we got back to check in, our luggage was already waiting for us in our room. Rooms are clean and decently sized for Japan.

Excellent location, right on a crossroad of the subway system so you can go any direction. Good value too.

Its an older hotel and the rooms look a little old. Our shower had mould growing.

The location is good and close to local restaurants. The room was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The staff were adequately fluent but it took some effort to communicate in English and get local guidance.

The room was very small. The carpets were worn and need replacing. There is no English channel on the TV. The TV screen is sideways to the bed so it is hard to watch. The wifi is not available in the rooms and in the lobby it is very slow.

Excellent staff; very good location, near to Metro so other Ktoto transport optionss accessible; variety at breakfast catering for different people's needs. Restaurants nearby.

Good location near the Kamasura Oike station and not too far from the Teramachi markets and river. Breakfast was reasonably priced and offered a good choice of western and Japanese food. The hotel offers to lend bicycles if you want to ride on the wide footpaths. Excellent hotel for us. We've used it 3 times now and would go there again.

Great service from the staff, they provide free bike rental which is great to explore Kyoto. Also, they had arranged and pre-booked a geisha show.

The Hotel isnt 'cheap' (not expensive either, but still) for the price I would have expected better rooms. Its clean but all old, the matras has had its best time, and the bed was surprisingly small. We stayed at 4 different hotels during our stay in Japan, and this one didnt live up to the expected standards.

Good location and excellent access to transport.

I thought the accommodation was very good for the price and appreciated being able to have breakfast at the hotel, to start the day. Having laundry facilities was also a great advantage.

Close to metro, clean, comfortable. Nice walk to Gion (20-30 mins).

Staff were lovely. They held our bags for a night when we stayed outside Kyoto.

Size of the room and age of the fittings

We stayed in 2 separate double rooms. One was a economy double and the other was a standard double. Rooms were small, as in most of Japan. I recommend spending just a few dollars more for the larger standard room. Rooms were very clean with a modern bathroom with very hot water. Hotel staff was helpful and spoke some English. They even will Black Cat your luggage for you(very cheap helpful service so you don't have to take your luggage on the subways). On site restaurant had good food. Close enough to the subway.

Mattress was not that comfortable.

The guest room is small but clean. Housekeeping staff are very friendly. Location is good.

Front Office staff cannot speak English well. I need to repeat my sentence several times until they got my comment.

It's best times were 20 years ago, walls are really thin

It's close to Nishiki Market, Teramachi Shopping District, Nijo Temple, and Kyoto Imperial Palace, which are some of the best place to go in Kyoto. The Hotel have good supply of exact maps for tourists. Comfortable, has vending machine and washing machine for clothes in some floor.

Doesn't have wifi, only lan cable.
