The hotel is located in very quiet industrial part of Kyoto (well, yeah. Kusatsu is not a pretty place). The room was clean, the staff was nice (didn't speak English but knew few words so yeah, the communication was a challenge but we handle it). 5 minutes walk from the station then 20 minutes bu train to Kyoto centre. The good point is that around the hotel is few nice restaurant with really nice food. And if we talking about the food... we ordered the breakfast in the hotel only once and was baaaaad.... so the worst what we have eaten in whole Japan.

-Kusatsu- generally speaking not nice place to stay at all -Breakfast-horrible -Smell of cigarettes. But it our fault. We didn't know that in Japan if you do smoke you need to book a room for non smoking. Otherwise you will get the room stinky as the ashtray. They jus smoke everywhere that all

The staff at breakfast was friendly, and the desk staff helpful. The room was tiny but fine for sleeping

The walk to the train station was long for old people

Want I like most is that it's near to the station. Pulse wifi is available.

Dust was almost every where. I'm not saying they don't clean but funiture of hotel seriously need makeover. Especially beds

rooms were spacious. we booked a triple room and the beds were all double beds. although the staff got my booking mixed up, they were quick to offer a countermeasure. many parking lots at the hotel and parking was free.

a tad far from kyoto city.

Kyoto station is 20minutes or so by train. Location is ok, it's a nice quiet neighbourhood. Staff were helpful and accommodating. They didn't speak much English.

really BIG room. Planned for it to be the access hotel for Kyoto visits, but too far... SO we ended up renting bikes and enjoyed the great bike lanes that can take you ANYWHERE. motorized traffic respect bikers. Spent the whole day on bikes rented at JR station, went 20-30kms into the countryside and back. Ritto city, rice paddies amongst bikeable single track irrigation ditches, Lake Biwa... visited a small secluded temple in Ashuwara (???). Sites not that great, but being grounded in the Japanese countryside was

Nothing much to see in Kusatsu except the huge windmill, Lake Biwa and the Lotus Park. Nothing great.
