Only a 5-minute walk from JR Shin-Okubo Station, the Shin-Okubo City Hotel provides comfortable rooms with lots of daylight and free Wi-Fi in the whole hotel.
Score from 283 reviews Very good
Great location - 2 minutes from Shin-Okubo station which is only one stop from Shinjuku on the JR Yamanote line. Loads of little restaurants and shops in the area. Staff were friendly and polite, English was good enough so communication wasn't an issue. You can pay a lot more for a hotel in Tokyo than this - for the location and the price you can't go far wrong. We would definitely stay again next time we're in Tokyo.
The only thing that we didn't like was the thin pillows on the bed, although I'm sure if we'd bothered to ask the hotel would have provided some more. A very minor point on an otherwise very pleasant stay.
The location is great. The hotel condition is fair. However, I booked the hotel very early; thus, I got very good price on it. It is worth to pay. :)
near Yamanote JR line, Korean St n halal food is just across the main street
Location near shin-okubo and okubo jr station. Just 2 mins from shinjuku jr and walk 10 mins. There are a lot of restaurant and convenience store.
No return back because of dirty restroom and smoking smell. Also a room is very small so I heard noisy talking all night.
Staying here is really value for money. Close to Jr okubo station which is only one stop from shinjuku. The room is really comfy with all the basic amenities and more! TV, fridge, bathtub... All included for just 6000yen for two. Really recommend this place to everyone.
Hotel near to JR station and many Restaurant within short walking distance. We have stayed there for first night and travel to Hakone/Fuji for 2 nights. The Hotel provide 24 hours luggage storage during our stay. We continue the last 4 nights stay during our trip, the staff upgrade our room. Will recommend to my friends, will come to stay here again.
Good location near JR with 3 min walk. Many Restaurants within 3 min walking distance. 24 hours luggage storage. Affordable price for budget travelers, will recommend to my friends. Will visit this hotel again .
Near to train station. Big room.
The toilet looks old and not clean. Some stains on the wall and I am not sure what it is.
for me its good place as it varry close to shin okubo jr station. But there is no escalator at the jr station so for those who travel with baby stroller, they have to walk a bit far to subway station. Plus the room is smal..
No hot water at everyfloor make us need to go L1 everytime we need the hot water.
The staff was helpful. And they spoke good English also.
The room was not in a good condition. Bathroom was not that clean.
Good location. Staffs are helpful and friendly. They can speak English and Chinese. Wifi very fast.
The room too small.
The location is excellent with less than 5minutes walk to the nearest train station-Shinokubo station. Value of money as a budget hotel in town.
As budget hotel they did not provide basic housekeeping services but only changing bath towel. Bed quality was poor which is too soft, we can't sleep well during the stay.
Location and many eateries around the hotel. The staff are friendly too. Good value for money.
The bathroom is too small.
Location is so good. Near the JR station.
Room is too old. The facility in rest room also old and not ready to use.
The location itself, surrounded by a lot of restaurants, shops, conveniently connected to every stations in Tokyo. Shin-Okubo station located only 3-5mins walking distance from the hotel.
The walkway to the hotel a little bit dark at night with very minimal street light
3-5 mins walk from the station, and they upgrade the room for me for free, staff's English is good and the signal of WIFI is strong
Wall is thin, the entry lane was very dark in the evening.
Near to station just about 5mins walk. Convenience surrounding. Good service and late check in available.
Very limited space in the room. Poor sound proof.
Nice hotel, very convinient location, near Shin-okubo Station in JR Yamanote Line, one station after JR Shinjuku Station, you can even walk to Shinjuku Station. They provide us hot and cold water on the first floor, store luggage is ok, they also have nice cafe beside the hotel. Room was nice eventhough the bathroom is small but with cheap rate like that it was ok. All in all I enjoy my stay in Empire in Shinjuku Hotel.
We ask for an extra pillow and they refused to give it to us...they said that their rule was: one person, one pillow. We replied that we needed an extra one because of us (we were three people) had problems on his neck. They refused again and when we said we were going to complain about the gave us the extra one. That was of the three people we met working as receptionist. The other two were very nice...but still the hotel was really uncomfortable and tiny.
As holders of JR pass, we can travel to the hotel from tokyo station using the Yamanote line. A lot of store and places to eat abound if you explore the side streets. The hotel is clean and for the price provides the basic necessities. It was also nice that there is a hair dryer and bathrobe that guests can use.
Poor and slow wifi connection. For a country like Japan, fast internet service is to be expected. Some of the rooms smell like cigarette smoke.
Floor not clean
Very near JR station and easy to find something to eat in the nearby area.
Very small bathroom and there's bug in the bedroom.
Very good location as it was only 5mins walk from the train station. Easy to find. Comfortable beds n all essentials are provided. Our rooms were cleaned everyday. It was a great 4nights stay
Everything was amazing
Cosy, clean and spacious
Was a little troublesome to find at first
It's only one station away from shinjuku, and a short walk to the hotel. It's very worth it! Especially shin-okubo station had many eateries, shops, basically a vibrant youngsters hang out place. If u are travelling & doing sightseeing the whole day, u only need a bed in a reasonable locale, this is it. Nothing to shout about but it suits my needs.
The toilet can be a lil cleaner?
