Japanese room and design Friedly staff
Kaiseki meal doesn't worth the price. It's better to eat out.
The ryokan is directly across from the train and bus station and surrounded by high quality hotels and restaurants. Chaya is an oasis of quiet and charm in the area. Our room was spacious with a delightful "Western" sitting area with a view to our private garden. In four days, we grew to love Kanazawa and could explore it easily by buying an all-day bus ticket. We would love to return!
The only drawback in our room was the ledges and small steps that seemed to be everywhere. We had to be very careful when we used the bathroom--particularly in the night. Tripping was too easy.
Fantastic service by staff
As soon as l was at the front door this was special. It was. The staff just so good. Room was special traditional large space. I was spoilt. Public bath with sauna so good. Breakfast Japanese the best. Anyone should not bypass this hotel.
We were very pleased with our stay here and cannot fault this hotel. The staff are most courteous and helpful and in our case went out of their way to assist us with a problem that we had. I highly recommend this hotel.
Nothing not to like.
Full service; in Japan that means you are welcomed to your room and given tea and small cakes upon arrival as well as robes (Yukata) to change into. We did not have the dinner there, though judging by our lovely breakfast in semi-private dining areas, it would have been great. We were able to have western breakfast, which was a nice change for us. Friendly smiling staff all around making you feel very welcome. Free Wifi. Spotless!
Very small bathroom. Didn't seem to match the standard of our tatami room which was spacious with all the features. Also, quite typical to our experience, it is hard to find an English channel on the tv.
The whole experience was wonderful. It was very comfortable and clean and had good facilities. The service was excellent. It was also great to be close to the train station.
Nothing special. I would not chose it again. Far too expensive.
Overrated prices, not worth it! Nothing special, compared to other Ryokan-s in Kanazawa, which are half price!
The staff is attentive and food is exquisite
The hotel is very close to the station and about 15min walk to the castle. The room is very nice, large and it is possible to make tea in the room. Green tea is served while arriving. Public bath on the first floor was very relaxing. No wifi but internet with cable
Location was just perfect, the staff were extraordinary, the rooms were very plush and overall the place was immaculate!
Absolutely nothing to complain!
Bedding Hot Bath Staff
Language Barrier (very hard to communicate at times)
smell smoking all the time when you live in the room I reserved non smoking room but I got very smoking room , it's bad for health
The traditional Japanese experience ,which was encompassed by the room ,onsen and the staff. The location was very central and the room spacious.
Was not expecting futons to be on the floor, uncomfortable for the older members, also low chairs and table were difficult to get down to.
Superb ryokan in great location, very attentive staff. Room was huge, the bathhouse was excellent, bedding very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding.
Just about everything. The staff was wonderful, and the room large (larger than standard Japanese hotel roms) and was more like a suite, with separate toilet and shower/bath room. It was beautifully serene to be there. Good location for the bus and train station (walking distance) and easy to get to all the sites by taking the bus that makes loops around the city.
Overall, no drawbacks to stop us from recommending this ryokan/hotel. But to note: The heat, even set at highest, did not fully heat the room, so there was a chill in the air, but the blankets were very cosy and warm (extras found n the closet). Doubling up on the futons made them more comfortable.
Loved the location, a stone's throw away from the train station. The pictures here also don't do it justice, it's even lovelier in reality. Excellent service and food. The rooms and futons were extremely comfortable and the yukatas very tasteful.
Nothing really. It's not a traditional ryokan per se but very modern with all the service of a traditional ryokan.
A nice insight into Japanese culture in a modern, but traditional, setting. Very polite and helpful staff. Good location close to the station, the city and attractions. Enjoyed a first experience at a public bath in the hotel.
Everything. Very nice ryokan, Staff very friendly. Amazing room. Very close to the railway station. A bit expensive but definitely worthy.
