We stayed 3 nights recently in Hotel Kanra during our holidays in Kyoto. This is a small boutique hotel, very comfortable and very close to the Gojo subway station, from where you can explore the various sites of Kyoto. We didn't have much time, so we went by subway and taxi to the sites and still very reasonable. The hotel staff is first class, very courteous and they took care of our needs very diligently, especially Ms Ishiyama. She is a very nice lady and she took care of our stay very well including reservation of restaurant and booking taxi. Job well done, thank you very much.
The room rate is a bit pricey.
By far the best place we stayed in Japan - beautiful spacious room, huge bed, amazing bathroom and shower. Staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us and Gojo station was right outside so very convenient. The free electric bicycles were a great addition and our day cycling around Kyoto checking out temples was one of the highlights of our trip - highly recommended!
Breakfast pricey for what you got, but otherwise absolutely nothing.
This hotel was modern but still kept a sense of traditional Japanese touches. Our room was spacious and all amenities were available. Staff were attentive and helpful. Great location in Kyoto as very near the train station.
The personal service was fantastic! The rooms were excellent, very comfortable beds and a wonderful architectural mix of Japanese and modern fusion. The restaurant meals were outstanding - especially the degustation evening meal "Kanra special". We would stay here again without hesitation, even though a little expensive it is worth it!
Nothing. No interconnecting rooms when traveling with children. Though we had rooms next door. Which worked out for us.
Great service and large comfortable rooms
Probably the location is a bit far from the Gion area where there's more to do
The staff of Kanra Hotel went out of their way to answer our many questions and made many good recommendations on restaurants and sights. Excellent service from a boutique hotel.
The design, space and comfort of the bedroom was tremendous. Huge bed with crisp sheets and comfortable mattress. Powerful shower. Separate toilet from bathroom.
Breakfast was ok if you like Japanese but a poor western fixed choice. Eat out. Like much of Japan, don't expect English TV channels.
Excellent, professional, friendly and gracious staff. Best of the blend of Modern / traditional Japanese Style. Comfortable, generous rooms.
Really enjoyed Everything from the room to the excellent service
service was very good facilities were clean and modern
I wasnt that keen on the location
Great Design Excellent personalised service Excellent location Solar complimentary bikes are great for exploring the large city Concierge services were excellent Very good taste details Overally: Great cozy feeling and comfort
Nothing, everything was perfect
The staff facility and accommodations were phenomenal. Our room had two large beds and 3 futons on tatami mats. Everyone had the best sleep of our trip at Kanra. It is a brief walk from from the kyoto station and right next to a subway stop. It was an amazing place in a convenient location and the staff was very with our varying requests. I suggest this without hesitstion.
If I were to nit pick it was that the breakfast options were expensive so we opted out. We didn't eat it so we don't have a basis of comparison. It is a reach in terms of negative feedback.
The staff of the kanra were exceptional in every way. Everything was made easy and I would recommend it in a heart beat. We loved the modern yet traditional rooms and the electric bikes made travelling around kyoto a breeze.
This hotel was super chic was a mix of modern and traditional Japanese decor. The hotel was close enough to everything and anything. It was slightly hidden away which i really appreciated because you were away from the main road noise (if any). The staff as many Japanese hotel staff are gave me and my cousin the best customer service ive ever experienced in my life. And the staff were very accomodating They were amazing. I loved my stay at Hotel Kanra.
There is nothing I didnt like. Not one thing.
Very friendly staff and love the deco so much. It's not just a hotel room for sleep, but I would like to stay in the room.
Fourth time to Kyoto and felt it was time to try up scale accommodation closer to centre of town Spent two nights at Hotel Kantra and could have stayed a week Pictures on wed site look interesting and experience exceeded our expectation High praise for it being a non smoking hotel. Great to enjoy stay without being exposed to any second had smoke. Restaurant was unique fushion Very calm relaxing eating experience , size of restaurant was ideally sized for number of guest while providing a cosy atmosphere Rooms were very unique fusion of Japanise and western. Very comfortable Loved the shower and the bath tub area. First time we had a artificial skylight. What an effective feature
Odd experience at check in as we were required to prepay for our rooms. I have never been asked this before and it did surprise me Room had many small lights more to create an atmosphere , results were for a low light experience I was ok with this some may find the lighting a small challenge While showing us the room staff did offer to supply more light We chose not to and were very comfortable
The room, staff, facilities and food were excellent
Some road noise
An outstainding small hotel,
Service, Attention to Details, Free Bikes
Room design Bath tub Staff Close to main station
Breakfast Perhaps would have preferred location in old town - Gion
The staff we're extremely helpful, courteous and accommodating. They gave fantastic local recommendations for sites to see and restaurants to try. They made sure we had the reservations we requested and printed out details directions on how to get there. The staff were amazing! The hotel is a bit far from all the main tourist sites, but we actually liked that! There was close access to transportation (bus and subway) so we could easily get to where we wanted without any trouble. Kyoto station is a 5-10 min walk from the hotel which made it convenient for day trips. And the rooms were so comfortable! They are modern yet preserve the simplicity and beauty of Japanese living. It was great!
Location was great! Staff was friendly and super helpful! Rooms were beautiful and super clean. Beds were heavenly! An oasis that is a perfect blend of old and new Japan!
Nothing at all. Hotel Kanra was excellent!
Too pricey compared to the Gate Hotel in Tokyo.
Very nice hotel with super friendly staff. The rooms are japanese style but still with western comfort. The food in the restaurant is excellent.
