spacious room and good location
smell of cigarettes and washrooms not as nice as other places
Location (for Peace Park) Price (good value for money)
Quite difficult to find Lack of wifi in room Lack of English by staff 1 shared bathroom for all rooms
It was easy to find off Tram 1 at Chudenmae and close to the Memorial Park. It was an easy walk to both Bakudanya and Hassei restaurants. We saw the Park in the afternoon and went out to Miyajima in the evening. Perfect.
If you have back or hip issues make sure you ask for additional padding.
The owner is perfect, he really care about what you need. A good breakfast. Very close to the peace memorial park.
Only one shower for all the guests.
Good location adjacent to a street car station and only a 10 minute walk from peace memorial park and the Bomb Dome.
Inexplicably the rooms smelled of cabbage. The smell got so bad that we had to change rooms. Wi-fi is only available in the lobby. Curfew at 11.
The position of the hotel
Beds on floor,no chairs for older people made life difficult .
Fairly central location for access to transport, sight-seeing, shopping and eating out.
Steep stairs a bit hard to manage if you have heavy luggage. Single shower/onsen room for all guests only available until 11pm, so you need to time it if you want to freshen up before sleeping in the hot weather.
Location is good!
Staff don't speak english and, didn't really seem to care about guests. Only one shower. WiFi didn't work in rooms. Not very nice rooms. Quiet expensive for what you get...
Close from the main turistics places: Peace Memorial Museum, Peace Memorial Park and others. You have all information you need to get the places. The rooms are noiseless
A little expansive for the things the hotel offers.
Really close to the peace memorial park,
Expensive for one night, but it was the night ofmthe 5th august so i guessmit is normal.
Good location Great bathroom Helpful staff
Only one bathroom for whole building No one at desk during the day
perfect way to experience japanese style room. pleasant staff breakfast was lovely
sink & bathroom are publicly shared only one bathroom on the first floor
- kind staff - luggage storage - spacious Japanese style rooms - ryokan in the city center
- bathroom with no traditional shower or bathtub - hotel not as clean as other hotels of the same standard
Umm.... The location was good: convenient to the Peace Memorial. The room was a decent size.
The bathrooms are revolting. The breakfast was inedible. I woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke coming through the wall. The bed was uncomfortable - even by futon standards. I don't normally complain about basic accommodation but I got out of there as quickly as I could in the morning.
Tatami floors, spacious rooms, delicious breakfast
I had a lot of luggage and it was hard to take it up the steep stairs
Pretty close to Peace Memorial Park; a nice long walk away or a few stops on the tram.
When we arrived, there was no one to greet us. There was a note on the counter that said to call a phone number. We called it; the phone on the front desk rang. So that was useless. We kept hitting the bell. Ten minutes later, an old lady came out rubbing her eyes as she was sleeping. Wifi is so slow it that it essentially doesn't exist. Breakfast is only served from 7-8 in a common area. It is not served in your room even though the word "Ryokan" is in the name of the place. If you miss breakfast, you don't get a refund even though you only have between 7-8 instead of the usual 3 hours elsewhere. There is only one shower room with two open shower stalls. So at most two people of the same sex can shower at once. There is a tiny bath in the shower room that is not being used. The facilities are old. The walls have cracks. The stairwell is very narrow. The bathrooms smell; some still have squat toilets. Don't be deceived by the word "Ryokan" in the name. This is essentially a low quality hotel that provides futons instead of beds.
Decent sized room - one of the biggest we had in all of our Japan trip. Bathroom had an onsen. Budget price.
Not much English from the owner (which is fine I guess as my Japanese is non existent!) Room stunk of smoke. Missed breakfast as it wasnt explained to us - even though we paid for it. No lift to the 2nd floor it seemed - get ready to lug that heavy bag up a tight corridor!
Cheap, large room. Bed (futon) was comfy
Smoking is allowed in the building No private bathroom
Simple, cheap, great location
The personnel are excelent, even if they don't speak english they try really hard to take care of all your need. Is near the peace memorial park and the zone where really safety, i walk all day and part of the night, it was wonderfull. there are also many restaurant and a supermarket near. and from the station take the trem 1 it leave you 5min walking from the ryokan
Good traditional ryokan next to the main places to visit in Hiroshima. Good japanese breakfast. Just be aware of the stairs for your heavy suit case.
Was concerned about smoke smell but it was fine. Didn't smell anything. Location close to tram line and peace park and major shopping streets. Attendants helpful despite their little English.
Really big room, tea provided in the room and yukatas.
The place was a bit old, but fine. Hardly saw the staff the whole time.
Good location for the Peace Memorial Park. We were the only guests so it was nice and quiet (but we weren't offered breakfast). The wifi was good. There were lots of blankets to keep warm.
It was sometimes difficult to find staff when we wanted them. The room was quite cold but there were plenty of blankets for sleeping.
Perfect location. Walking distance from Peace Memorial Park / Museum and Hiroshima Castle, as well as from main shopping streets. The Maple Loop bus to the Central Station (Shinkansen service) can also be conveniently used. Great money-saver for those who are going to be spending very limited amount of time at the ryokan due to full-time sightseeing activities. Good traditional Japanese tatami experience.
Many westerners might find conditions inconvenient: stuff barely speaks English, tatami is arguably not for everyone, bathrooms and showers are shared. It is excellent for a short stay (2 to 3 nights) if the comments above do not bother you. It is something the average Japanese person would prefer for a short stay, so please go ahead if you are looking for a good Japanese experience!
