Owners were very nice and helpful, they gave us a ride to the station when we were leaving. I liked the warm atmosphere of this little hostel.
It was too expensive for a very small room. And the hostel was hard to find at first. But I would still recommend this place :)
Our host so generously drove us to and from the station which would otherwise be a 20min walk with our bags.
There wasn't a tap in the kitchen we could use (it didn't appear to be working) but wasn't a huge problem... Our host insisted on taking our dishes to be washed and she provided big jugs of fresh drinking water.
This place -and town - is great! Run by a lovely couple who are more than happy to take you to/from the train station and offer you sake! The town itself is just beautiful
Had an enjoyable time at this hostel with reasonable accommodation, friendly service, pick up service to and from railway station and welcoming sake drink, good wifi
The location is out of city centre with not much around the area, the bus service finishes at 6pm making it a reasonable walk back from city centre.
Friendly staff, wait for our group late at night.
Less privacy, better to have small curtain for each bunk bed.
Peaceful and atmospheric Very accommodating and friendly staff Nice communal atmosphere in the guesthouse Good night's sleep
Location bit far out, but owners were happy to give people lifts into town and offer nearby recommendations
* Staff was nice and welcoming, basic English spoken * International clientele * Nice terrace from which I watched the fireworks (we were lucky!) while chatting with the owners and the other guests * Cheap! * 25min walk from train station, but the owners will pick you up if you arrange it beforehand
* Small dormitory room * Bunk beds did not have either own light or electric plug * Almost non-existant pillow
The owners are nice You get a piece of watermelon on your arrival :) Beautiful view on the mountains surrounding Matsumoto from the terrace
Far from the station and the center of the city Expensive for what it is compared to other hostels I've been to in Japan Poorly equipped Insufficient space and privacy Quite shabby
Had the dorm for myself. Welcome melon and homegrown tomatoes. On the riverside. Terrace.
Poor English. Intermittent Wifi.
Owner invited me to have free refreshments when I arrived and also helped me find where to go the following day as well as driving me there for free!
Mosquitoes were in the bedroom and there wasn't a fan, so it was no problem if you got under the sheets immediately, I didn't have the chance to ask so they may have a fan if you ask for one
Hospitality and sincerity of the owner. He is,by far, the kindest person I met in my trip to Japan. He also gave me a lift in the early morning to the train station.
30min from Matsumoto Station but very nice little hostel. Hosts are very kind and pick me up at the station when I arrived. They also dropped me near the Castle the next morning which I appreciated a lot! It is clean, they let some towels and even offered me a nice glass of Nihon shu! In spring, the sakura trees on the river border make it a very beautiful place to hang out. I have been there twice and I strongly recommend it!
I expected it, but one of the rooms with bunk beds is a bit small for large luggage. Even if it is not an issue for me, this hostel being small, rooms are very close to each other, and privacy is not great.
The owners are excellent people! They're the soul of this place. They helped us with everything and took care of us in every moment. We had booked the double room, which is very small, and they offered us a bigger room without extra charge. They gave us a free transfer from and to the station, which was also great! And the free bicycles are a great extra too! Moreover, the common room is very cozy, and it's possible to heat some food and eat there. We're very grateful for staying at this place, it's like a home.
The house is really sweet and nice, but a bit messy because of all the furniture and objects placed at very small spaces. It's located on a beautiful road at the riverside, but it's quite far from the city centre and the train station. Fortunately, the free bikes are a great help with distances, so if you don't mind cycling, the problem is solved.
Such lovely owners, more a little sharehouse that a hostel, so cosy and welcoming. Great, cheap ramen & soba restaurant around the corner. If you need a warm welcome, stay here
Thanks for the hospitality of Yoshiro san. I was happy to share a cup of sake during my new year stay! It was charming little house with a cosy terrace that offers a nice view of the snowy mountain afar. The walk along the river a front the guest house is a pleasnt thing to do in the morning.
