We got to use the private bath. Not a lot of people come out to bath after 9. We felt so private using it. The owner sent us to the bus terminal even though he seemed busy in the morning and usually can't provide pick-up service.

We are two students travelling around Japan, who wanted to try the onsen experience. Good range of onsen facilities, particularly the outdoor baths which can be used privately after 9pm. The optional dinner and breakfast was good with great range of dishes. Very clean throughout. We were offered a lift to the bus station after our stay which was lovely considering the amount of luggage we had!

Dinner maybe on the expensive side. Location is 10 minute walk from Yubatake and bus station. Not a problem if you don't mind the walk but if you want to be in 'the centre' then this may be too far.

the private baths and foot baths were great. Also the dinner was well presented and yummy,.

We did not like the location. It was very poorly located and difficult to find as there weren't enough signs leading you there. Also the hotel owner did not speak english that well so at times it was difficult to communicate.

We can use the onsen as a private facility after 9:00 pm.

The room is too small. The facilities are old and dated.

    1. Unkind, rude, the worst service ever I have not yet before. We were lovely young people, the time when we arrived at Kiyosigekan Ryokan was about 11 pm. Although I had written a email about our lately check in, the clerk man who had curl hair, Short height and wear a glasses on his eyes.. looked at me and was very angry for and said "This is late time to check in" "Closed now, finished already" And He didn't explain anything how to use Ryokan and he went his room immediately. Next Mornig when check out time. He was angry and said " You are late for Check out time for 10 minute..So you have to pay 30,000 yen more.." He never told me the check out time..He was just angry and spread out to me ..It was Japan, in Ryokan. Finally I explained the situation rationally, to have no reason to pay extra charge.. After many arguing, he continuosly was arngy. Finally after he approved my card and said to me.. " Get out of here, get out " He twisted the receipt paper of approved card and threw on my face. And He came out of counter and pushed to my shoulder(excatly he hit me). "go out" He shouted to me. Can you imagine that? It was really happend. I was very upset and complained many times but he never listened to me. He was rude, unkind, violent, terrible. 2. Cheating We stayed in ROOM number 203. We had a reservation through for ROOM size "13m2" But size of ROOM 203 is "9.6m2" that I fined out, examined, searched through internet site the right information. He deceived me, The RYOKAN was cheatin me.. 3. Don't go Kiyosigekan Ryokan. I hope every one who read this review would not go to Kiyosigekan Ryokan. This was real happened at 2014 / 01 / 31 ~ 02 / 01 4. I had many evidences for this So for many people's sake, Kiyosigekan Ryokan have to be let down of the

The bath and outdoor bath is great! I love the spacious room too!

It's quite a walk from the Bus Terminal, so if you are going with big luggage it can be a bit troublesome. There are no private showers, so a bit troublesome that you need to use the bath if you just want to do a quick shower.

Friendly staff, able to speak English when we needed help. When we went it was the middle of the week, so there weren't many people and the baths were pretty much our own, which was nice.

It's a bit of a walk to get to the center of Kusatsu onsen village, maybe 5 or 10 minutes (but really not that big of a deal).

Breakfast was very good and delicious. When we checked out, it was very nice that the hotel offered a free ride to the bus station .

A little bit difficult to get the wifi.

The staff at Kiyoshigekan was fantastic. I came knowing no Japanese and they we're patient and helpful. I would recommend this Ryokan to anyone traveling to Kusatsu. The food was amazing, the baths were relaxing and clean, and it was an overall excellent experience.

The onsen (both indoor and outdoor, private and public) were lovely. Quiet and peaceful surrounding. The ryokan staff was nice and helpful - if he didn't tell me that the view from Mt. Shirane ropeway was extra good that day, I might had missed it. Thank you!

Quite difficult to find the place as there were many small road. Probably can help if a sign board is placed at the junction between Hotel Takamatsu & Ootaki no yu?

The traditional ryokan with onsen is really beautiful. The staff is friendly and service excellent. The breakfast is a little expensive but do at least once time. Perfect.

The onsen pools (both private and public) were lovely. It was very quiet when we went so we had the place to ourselves. Beautifully equipped, clean, traditional Ryokan style rooms (on 2 storeys, double-glazed windows, proper walls).

It was very snowy / icy and no - one in the area had used any grit or salt and so it was highly treacherous underfoot.

Hot water bath .. Hotel staff are very friendly and offered a drive to the ski area.

Location is a bit far from the bus station.

The ryokan staff is very friendly and helpful. Clean and comfortable ryokan with nice Japanese food.

Have to walk about 10 min between the centre of the town and the ryokan.
