The staff was pleasant and it is just about 1-2 blocks from Kawaguchiko train station.
No AC. And JUL/AUG in Japan you want AC! So you open the windows which the windows are right above a restaurant and busy street for people walking and big loud trucks. The trucks were incredibly loud and people walking by talking were also, so even with the help of some cold medicine, sleep was difficult. The womens bathroom is only a squatty potty and the mens, well, there is only a noren curtain so everyone can see you when they walk by. Which, since these are right near the hall to the rooms is all the time. One of the guys in my room would go to the train station bathroom to use. For 2600yen, you may think it is worth it until you are trying to sleep in a hot loud room. And for 2600yen/pp, they can afford to put in AC! They just don't want to! Mr. Koe apparently told my roomie just to take more showers to cool off! Let's just say, I left a nite early and gave up my money already paid and stayed around the corner at the Station Inn. Much nicer! Also, in Kawaguchiko it is very easy to get around so don't be afraid to stay somewhere not near train station. Unless you get there late and the buses aren't running and you are too cheap to pay a taxi....
The owner is so accomodating. I cancelled 2 rooms before the trip but 2 showed up. So when we came to Koe, 2 have no rooms. The owner gave us the other site which is near lake yamanakako. And we were amazed at the place. Its the house all for the 12 of us. Its clean and this is the best experience we had in Japan.
affordable price, a friendly english speaking staff, decent toilet and shower, nice attentions to details such as providing ear pick -and facial cotton near the sink, free wifi, japanese style room, clean, a convenient store nearby (3-5 min walking)
there's no air conditioner in the mixed room. fan alone is not enough in summer.
When we first entered the house there was bad smell. It seems like nobodies do the cleaning. Toilets and showers are dirty. Very unpleasant experience.
No western toilet
No air conditioner
Excellent location near the station
Worn down and felt like there was no effort being made to improve things
Nice room, good location, very nice owners. We recommand the trip to the onsen!
the owner's refusal to help to book a mountain hut to Mt Fuji before my arrival but in the end, she helped to book when i arrived and I thank for the owner's help
Conveniently situated, friendly staff, can leave luggage. Provides all kind of information about the city
Just one (Japanese style ) toilet. No coffee in the morning. There is hot water and a micro-wave, but no plate, bowls.
Right in front of the train and bus station making it the perfect base for climbing Mount Fuji. A pleasant walk to the lake. Kind staff.
You needed to book food in the restaurant quite a bit early. Very few eating out options around the hostel.
Every thing is perfect. Koe House is very near station and you could go by tour or sight-seeing by yourself. The room is over-expected - clean and Japanese tradition. The onsen (but I have to call it public bath - maybe?) is make you feel better after long ride on bus. Nothing negative about this place!
It was close to EVERYTHING. Variety of restaurants, the staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Clean, comfortable rooms.
Steep stairs to rooms to bring up luggage. Could have tea and coffee available. Breakfast just so,so.
Location and economical price
Bathrooms were smelly (but clean). Staff were new and were not able to answer certain questions - likely will resolve itself after a few weeks into the summer tourist / climbing season.
The location. It's located just only 2 minuted from Kawaguchiko station.
No staffs when arrived. Had to wait for 30 minutes to find the cleaning staff. Trying to ask for his help but were refused, saying that he can't speak English and the staffs (who can speak English) were away. Luckily, one of the other guests who arrived at the same time can speak japanese so he asked him to help checking-in but it took another 20 minutes. - Old traditional toilet is quite smelly. No doors for men toilet and it's located opposite to women's one.
Good location, just beside Kawaguchiko Station. Staff can speak English and Chinese well.
what you pay & what you get.
Koe's house is near from the station, very neat, clean, and comfortable. The owner may become ur guide too.. He can speak English and Mandarin too. Excellent and multitalented person.
The location is very conveniently almost opposite the train station. Staff is friendly and the rooms were basic but comfy. The breakfast includes a hot drink, toast with jam and a soup, and comes at a very affordable price (apr. £3.-)
Great location right by the station and 10 mins walk to the lake
The sound of the owner's son(?) hawking phlegm into a nearby sink at 8am every morning!
Centrally located. Just a minute from Kawaguchiko station.
We like the location that is very very near to Kawaguchiko station for trains and buses. We rent bicycles to explore the Kawaguchiko Lake and surrounding attractions. The cooling weather in summer night was the natural air conditioner for us; comfortable night. We ladies have enjoyed JPY700(each) onsen recommended by the hotel owner; worth for money.
English speaking staff.
Building was quite old and the common bath facilities could be improved.
Near station! You can see the building from train station Kawaguchiko. It's a family-run business and they are really nice and speak English. They offer to store your luggage even after you check out so you don't need to bring your luggage around when waiting for the bus to Tokyo (for example). The breakfast was great for such price esp you'll get 50% discount by liking their page on FB. Such a simple thing to do for getting a breakfast. if you're looking for luxury, better not stay here.
For a short period of time there were dogs tied outside (am scared of them) that makes me uncomfortable to go out though I need to find smth to eat. The toilet is Japanese-style toilet, not my preference. Bathroom was okay, it's a countryside style (clean) bathroom.
