Niseko is the place you go when you want to travel/ski but want to feel like your still at home with all your comforts. The mountains pretty nice and not as busy as I expected in the late season.
Hirafu is stupidly over priced for accomodation and food. it's the Whistler of Japan. Lift tickets are expensive compared to most other resorts in Japan.
I only came because I had to do some training at Grand Hirafu.
I ended up staying in Kutchan for 5 of my 10 days as its more affordable and has more of an authentic Japanese feel, although you then may have to wait for buses and you'll be sacrificing the night life if thats what you're into.
Overall I would not return to Niseko unless it was a powder day and I was riding with some friends. Theres plenty of other options to choose from in my opinion.

Niseko is great for snowboarding.
Niseko is great for snowboarding. We were here for the powder and didn’t do much else. The mountain is not huge, but it is bigger than any other we have been to in Japan. The price is higher also. But you get some fun runs in and the tree areas are uncrowded. Would be great if there were more restaurants in the area that are halal or vegetarian friendly advertised on google maps. There are seasonal shuttle buses that operate in the area and the online maps and real time display of bus location is pretty good. Afuri has vegan ramen which was pretty good. Home Made Udon Goroku had vegetarian options also pretty delicious.

Hirafu (the main town around Niseko) is a vibrant ski town with lots of restaurants. I loved it. The skiing was great and so was the nightlife. You do not need a car if you stay in Hirafu. The only caution is that the town feels less Japanese and more “western,” with lots of western food and visitors from Australia, US and Europe. It felt less Japanese than I was expecting. For some visitors, that could be a plus. For others, it may be a negative.

Niseko is a very nice ski resort.
Niseko is a very nice ski resort. Everything is very well organised as in most Japanese ski resorts. The size of the ski resort and number of lifts allows to stay for a 2-3 days without feeling you rode this slope 10 times already. Connection with Niseko Village is not very convenient as you have to get quite high to move across. If you get there during peak season, book your restaurants way ahead otherwise, you will end up getting your food from the food trucks and Lawson. A mix of both will allow to manage your budget. Things are globally more expensive here than man other resorts.

Very heavily commercialised.
Very heavily commercialised. Not a lot of Japanese culture to experience and very dominated by westerners. But having said that, communication in English was made very easy because of this! Incredible resorts, facilities and views. I can see why it's so commercialised and westernised though - because it's a geographically incredible spot. Probably one of the best snow resorts on the planet.
Staff was awesome and very helpful. They made us feel welcome and helped with issues we had like ordering a taxi or getting information about surroundings. 10 stars for staff. Rooms were clean. We had in room onsen. It was small but the view was great. Breakfast buffet was great. Lots of things to choose from, Japanese and western. Ski Lyft was very close to the hotel. Price was also reasonable. There is no other place where you can have an in room onsen for this price.
Fantastic location, with access to both free and paid shuttle buses that provide access to all Niseko United ski resorts. Great bilingual staff, and a very easy check-in and check-out process. Great facilities, including a combined heater/clothes rack perfect for drying skiwear at the end of the day, and access to a Lawson’s on the premises. Would confidently say Midtown Niseko is the best value for money, modern hotel in the Niseko area.
Everything about chatrium niseko was perfect! Perfect location in hirafu close to bus stops, grocery stores, retail shops and the gondola! Hotel shuttle buses were fantastic, staff were super friendly and always helpful including helping us book a cab to Kutchan after checkout. Additionally the studio room was so comfortable and homely, we hope we'll be able to come back to staying again in the future! Thank you chatrium!
Came here for a winter holiday, the resort is right outside Annupuri ski slope, easy access to the snow boarding facilities and rental shop inside the hotel. The meals provided were all very good, wide spread of food with Japanese and Western cuisine. The staff are all super efficient and helpful, our radiator was broken and they brought in a portable one to keep us warm, the staff managed to fix it on the night itself.
We loved that we were met from the bus and taken to the property. The apartment was HUGE for Japan. There was a key code rather than key which was great for a family of 5 - nobody had to worry about remembering the key. Great space to chill out, fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer...couldn't get much closer to the Hirafu gondola - fabulous stay!! Also steps away from Rhythm where we hired gear so v convenient.
Very friendly ski lodge for English speaking guests. The owner and staff were very helpful arranging for ski rentals and gave me a ride to the Niseko train station. Loved the location a few minutes' walk to the lifts at Annupuri, the onsen, and a variety of highly rated nearby restaurants. The included breakfasts are really good and I stayed in and ate the very good ramen at the lodge all 3 nights.
Clean accommodations, friendly staff, common room and washer/ dryer on our floor which was very convenient. Close enough to walk to the village but far enough away that it was quiet. One of the stops on the bus route to both Hirafu and Hanozono ski areas, which was great after a long day of skiing. Equipment room for ski/ snowboarding gear was perfect, right next to where the bus picks up/ stops.
Super nice and convenient hotel with exceptionally friendly and supportive staff! We enjoyed our stay in Niseko and at Chalet Ivy a lot! Highly professional ski rental service in the hotel. Reliable and friendly private shuttle service to/ from gondola. Opportunity to refresh at hotel onsen even after check-out. Overall, hotel with modern & high-quality appearance.
Amazing Park Hyatt Niseko. It's everything you need for a memorable and enjoyable vacation. Hospitable and accomodating staff. One of the happiest place and most relaxing ski resort. Plus the convenience of the Hotel bus is so comfortable from airport transfers pick-up and drop-off. Can't wait to be back for sure. Thank you Park Hyatt Niseko Team.
The receptionist is very nice and helpful. There is free parking, skin rent shop, ski information, onsen, massage service, mini-bar and restaurant in the hotel. The hotel near hirafu parking of ski slopes, near ski rent shop, gift shop, restaurant and convenience store that you can walk. The room is clean and large. I recommend this hotel.
The property was in a good location (if you have a car) to be centred between Niseko village and Harifu resorts. It had excellent floor heating and lighting.
Owners were lovely and pleasure to have stay whilst we were there! Cafe in main building for apres or morning coffee before hitting the slopes!
It was extremely well located, only 3 minutes walk from the dot.base grand Hirafu slopes. The bar had a good atmosphere and was well-priced, and the staff were generally helpful. The breakfast was delicious and perfect for a day on the slopes (toast, boiled eggs, cereal, juice, muesli, yoghurt, coffee).
beautiful ski resort not too crowded. Niseko village is easily accesible with resort gondola. Hotel provide guest with foc daily gondola pass. We didnt ski. Just stayed at the resort to enjoy the beautiful powder snow. We stayed at the corner suite which has a beautiful scenery of the thick snow.
I like how close the hotel was to Grand Hirafu, just down the road. The hotel is downhill so if you are driving during winter just be cautious. The hotel itself is nice and cozy, nothing crazy. The breakfast is decent but good for Japan. And I appreciate the locker for the snowboard/skis.
Main lodge staff Nyokki and Seichu (not sure about the spelling) were incredibly helpful, friendly, sweet guys. Cannot say enough about how great these two were.
Lodge was cosy with big rooms and comfy beds.
Pretty good central location in Niseko Hirafu.
Located right smack infront of mount moiwa ski lift so you can walk from the hotel front door to ski lift directly. Plenty of parking and front desk staff was very helpful. There is shuttle bus to annapuri niseko available at limited frequency.
One stop resort! Ski in and out right outside the hotel with equipment rental next to the slopes and lifts. Niseko Village is on the area too for other restaurant options. It’s one of our favorite resorts and vacation spot!
Perfect location--not so close to the busy center of Grand Hirafu but accessible enough by the free shuttle bus service. Helpful and friendly staff and onsen of course 😌
