The lovely older lady who cooked breakfast and checked us in was just adorable. She was so friendly, even without speaking a single word of english and the older Miyako form of japanese - so we TRULY couldn't understand her - and we still managed to communicate and be polite. The rooms are alright actually, not at all like i expected when i had walked into the reception. Beds were comfy for Japan! Bathroom was small but all round comfortable enough.
The reception area and breakfast area is tired, smells bizarre, and generally doesn't give an all round nice feeling. HOWEVER this does seem to be Miyako generally - all areas surrounding this 'busy' little hub were average. The place was incredibly quiet. I don't think there was anyone else staying there when we were and the weather was still wonderful - about 30 degree days. It's definitely NOT the japan we were used too and have travelled quite extensively to the north and middle areas. However this also isn't the fault of this place, so I am not holding it against them in the ratings of course.
Location is good, near the Harbour and short distance to the city centre; quiet and peaceful, as it's hide inside the neighbourhood area; stuff is helpful and nice; room is big enough, you can't complain anymore for such price.
I scratch a bit of my car when trying to turn into the small car park in front of the hotel follow by the GPS instruction. The stuff help me to point out another direction to reach the other car park, so I can avoid the small lane. Other then this, I am totally fine with the hotel.
Japanese breakfast was brilliant
There was a smell of mold in the bedroom, particularly when the AC was off. This is perhaps something you just can't avoid in this part of the world. For those who find it easiest to sleep when it is dark, the curtains are just too thin
There were no lift. It was very much problematic to carry heavy luggage through staircase. Wi fi was not present at room only at lobby.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was full on with fish, rice, salad, soup etc....didn't need lunch after that!
We rented a car so had to navigate ourselves to the hotel.its a little tricky to find as its tucked away in the one way streets which are very narrow. but once you know where it is, it's easy!!
easy of access to the port and restaurants
difficult to reach without taxi because of the complex path at first
