The staff were extremely helpful and obliging.
It was further from Kyoto station than I thought. A bit far to go with suitcases. Otherwise easy to get around and close to lots of things.
The location was great. Closer to Kyoto station and all the bus lines but in a quiet area. The rooms were very nice, clean, comfortable.
The internet kept going out which is super inconvenient.
The bathroom was a little bit small, I often got my head bumped over the door frame. But the overall experience was great!
Intersting to experience, good breakfast. To be fair, the location wasn't bad but it could be better. Cosy.
Sleeping on the floor is really not my thing. If you weigh over 75kg, make shure to get an extra "matress" (or two)...
Very good facilities in a quiet environtment.
Although it is advertised as Ryokan, it looks like a normal hotel inside. But facilities are really good and nice. Location is not so good, it is three stations by bus form Central Station and there are few restaurants around only.
Great experience, staff very friendly support us in our Kyoto trip. Close to Nishi Honganjii teample and bus line (9) day ticket very cheap.
little bathroom but is a Ryokan so is a part of legend. (in spite of room and bed are very large)
Great location and wonderful, helpful and English speaking staff!
Staff was extremely helpful and friendly Sleeping quality was much better than expected Breakfast option was very good Location was excellent
The bathroom was a bit small and the water temperature changing rapidly.
The staff was great and the actual room was big and clean. We had no issues there and having the kyoto train station within walking distance was a big plus
the breakfast was not anything special.
The Ryokan is beautifully designed, combining traditional Japanese style with Western comfort. The room was convenient and quiet, and the staff was extremely nice, professional and helpful, and had good recommendations and maps. We also enjoyed a delicious vegan Japanese breakfast, which they kindly prepared for us altough it wasn't on the menu.
Typical Japanese room with tatami
As a solo traveler arriving late, you better have food/drinks before going. not so many restaurants or bar nearby. However, it is only 15min walk from busy center
- staff, friendliness, location (eveything)
I read other reviews first, and some were complaining about location which is not that close to Gion. I think that location is perfect - it's very silent there, and both central station or central shopping streets can be reached by walking or by bus. If you need a place to stay overnight and would like to get some feeling of Japanese style hotel - this is a perfect choice.
- Very well located (10-15min walk to Kyoto Station), nice area with many little restaurants around. - Room's really neat and comfortable. - The staff could speak good English which helps a lot.
Clean, quite, nice design. Helpfull staf. Good location.
friendly staff who speaks English, there is coffee machine and microwave at the lobby. room was very clean and even though it says no cleaning services unless requested, our room was cleaned everyday anyway. 3 minutes bus ride from Kyoto station which links to many other buses. its located just a lane behind the main road which is not difficult to find. 15 minutes bus ride to Gion. The hotel area is very peaceful and quiet, we like it a lot.
tv and bathroom are really small.
The atmosphere is very intimate and familiar. The breakfast is very good and not expensive. The Staff is very kind and helpful and has many suggestions for good tours around the city.
The bathroom is definitely below Japanese standards. Small and very essential. The guest has to make its own bed everyday to respect the traditional ryokan habits, but it is a little bit annoying and actually it's not requested in many other traditional ryokan we have been to.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a good deal.
The futons were very uncomfortable, we had bruises on our hips from sleeping on our sides.
Very kind and helpful staff. Hearty welcome and integration in activities (e.g. Summer food event, Origami, etc.); very pleasant for a westerner's first Ryokan experience as it celebrates the tradition on very high and modern standards (incl. own WiFi router)
The staff are goof and the Japanese style room is excellent!
The door to the yard can't be opened, although this is consideration of safe but I really look forward to the yard experience.
Japanese style room worths experience.
just 2 choices on the breakfast, hope more choices can be provided.
10' walk to Kyoto station, in quiet side street
I took japanese style room and I was afraid that it wouldn't has some western style necessities, specially related to bathroom, but I was totally wrong. The hotel is really comfy and beautiful. Location is near the main train station, but far enough to be reached by foot and be silent like a more far away place. Japanese caligraphy also was sensational, teacher is very patient and nice.
It's part of the experience, I know, but making my bed every night in the japanese style room was not so nice... ^_^ But worth the experience, and the hotel amenities compensate for it.
The people there are really friendly.their English is good and they helped us with our Japanese with a lot of patience.Location is good if you are willing to walk 20-25 mins. The best food we had was at the central kyoto station which is fantastic! The room was as described, internet available in the room.they even organise an evening tour that we didn't get the chance to do.Had a wonderful time, and price is reasonable for our budget, not tight but moderate. Thank you Sakura.
The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The room was very clean and pristine. The entire ryokan was quiet and restful. We will definitely stay here again!
