Opened in October 2013, the Sakura Terrace is only a 6-minute walk from Kyoto Station’s Hachijo-Higashi Exit. It features free Wi-Fi throughout, and it has a free-use laundromat.
Score from 1312 reviews Excellent

|Opening in October 2014, Hotel Unizo Kyoto Shijo Karasuma is centrally located in Kyoto, just a 4-minute walk from Karasuma Subway Station. Complimentary WiFi is available in guest rooms.|
Ｉlike the hotel. It is very comfortable room.Hotel staff are very kind and friendly.
The hotel is not near the station. You should walk from the station to hotel about 15minutes on foot.
Nice room with very good ventilation. Staff are very helpful and their recommendations for shopping areas and places to visit are valuable.
Helpful staff Very clean
Location to metro stops - a long walk to either of the 2 nearest metro stations.
room no valeu for Money. Room too small
- quite location - nice hotel with friendly staff - clean rooms, relatively large for Japanese hotels
- if you want to have a lot of restaurants close by, than choose a hotel in another neighborhood. Nevertheless in walking distance (10 - 15 min) there are enough to chose from.
close to imperial palace / park.
a bit of a walk to the metro station, which is also a bit out of town.
rooms are a bit old but clean and well kept.
I wish we had a higher floor or a better view (we were on second floor on the back side). price too high for what it offers, but we were there on a weekend during high season, so...
It is located close to many worthwile sights. Really nice furnishings, but showing some age. Staff spoke English. You can buy daily bus/train tickets on site, and you get a nice route map. There is a bus (51) that runs by the hotel but is not on the map.
Mold-smelling airconditioning; you need to run it all the time to avoid the smell. No coin-operated laundry (just expensive laundry service). No room for suitcases under the bed. Remarkably difficult to get to by public transport considering the central location - the bus runs once an hour, and the subway is 10-15 minutes away. WiFi is set up for each room separately, and our didn't work so we needed to connect to other rooms and frequently switch.
View during the breakfast on a Japanese-style garden / yard, good location despite having to walk a few minutes to the nearest subway station, cleanliness
Moldy smell from AC unit in my friends' room, staff could study some English
- Location (near Idagawa station) - Personnel - Service - Room - Breakfast - WLAN
Staff were extremely helpful, great commication us when our flight was cancelled and we missed our first night of our booking. Also great Japanese breakfast :-)
+ Spacious rooms + Comfortable bed + Beautiful and large building + Staff are friendly and several speak English fluently + Several in-house dining options, including a spacious lounge area which serves a variety of cakes + Fast in-room Wi-Fi!
- Location is opposite Kyoto Gyoen, which is useful for tourists, but the sound of insects from the park can be overwhelming in the morning - 10-minute walk from any main streets, which is unfortunate when looking for dining options, grocery stores or train/bus stations - No coin laundry facilities; you must make use of their in-house laundry service which can become expensive
space in the room tiny bathroom
Charged for breakfast twice but told us we only had one. Wouldn't refund
Friendly ever more helful staff.
In the large double room, the loveseat folded out to a bed. For our toddler, this was perfect. Linens were clean, space was adequate for Japan. There was even a headband in the usual amenities...that was a super handy small detail. Most staff spoke English well enough, and were very friendly.
only one key available per room, so you can't split up to do things separately, and it's so easy to lock it in accidentally! The A/C literally only had high, low, and med settings -- no temp or fan ctrls. It didn't keep up well on the hot days, and it was super humid in the mornings. It was certainly better than outside, though!
Location. I had to be there.
Price. And that poor breakfast!
Quietness and location.
The room was bigger than all the other rooms we had during out trip to Japan, Staff was really helpful, the hotel does look nice & very clean.
It is well located but there are not many restaurants/cafes around. You need to walk ~10 minutes to find some variety. Not bad but to be considered.
Incredible breakfast, totally clean and the most kind staff and the location was really good.
Staff was very helpfull answering all our requests and bike rental was available at hotel, very convenient. It is nice to have the imperial gardens in front of hotel as well.
It was far away from the nearest metro stop unfortunately, you have to walk 10-15 minutes and with a luggage quite a walk. Also all animation was also a bit aside because of the location.
Price is very good. The Kyoto subway is 800 m away. There I as a palace to visit in front of the hotel.
The breakfast is quite expensive. No self service except the coffee and tea
Quiet, peaceful location by the Imperial Palace, friendly staff, local Japanese flavour
Small bathroom, but wasn't a concern as we were there only one night
Beautiful lobby and restaurants, with gardens outside large windows. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Convenience to the grounds of the Imperial Palace across the street. Room rate was very good for Kyoto.
Location was a bit far removed from the Gion ($15 cab ride each way) and other interesting restaurant areas like Pontochoco. "Small double room" that we booked was almost too small for two people, OK for one.
