Staff is very friendly and helpful. While the overall deco gives cool urban vibe. Room is maticulous clean. Great location. Excellent combination for Kyoto stay
Clean & tidy
Room a bit smaller than expected.
Friendly staff Complimentary tea
Not near any train station but conveniently located in front of bus stop.
Room was clean. Staff was nice. Breakfast was great. Location was reliable not far from station.
Excellent location, with bus stops & subway stations within 5-min walk. You can also rent a bike or buy 1-day bus card at the front desk. Staffs are very friendly and willing to help. We stayed with Twin room for 2 nights and Double for other 2 nights. Both room types are spacious and well designed, with everything you need for a quality trip. We really enjoyed our stay here! :)
Wifi was not very stable for the first 2 nights in our twin room near the corner, but we brought our own wifi router so this was not a big issue.
Fantastic staff who greeted us and the rooms were large and comfortable. Short walk to nearest metro stop and hotel was within walking distance of central shopping area.
useless reading light for bed, compressor noise all night, useless window view to building next door
Friendly staff, great location, good wi-fi. Very close to a rail station.
Room was a little small.
Being able to open the window and get fresh air
Step up to bathroom
We stayed at Kyoto Itoya, 9H Capsule and Hotel Kanra Kyoto. Turns out Kyoto Itoya was the best. Even better than Kanra which unfortunately did not leave up to expectation given it's price. Itoya was clean, comfortable, but small. There's a laundry/dry cleaner shop just next to the hotel which is convenient. Location wise, we still had to take buses to Gion. Overall we enjoyed our stay here. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Kyoto.
The room is very comfortable. More notably, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We needed directions to travel to some sight destinations which were not in the recommended hotel list, there was this male staff who was patient to find out the details and drew out the directions to ensure that we understood. This was on the day we already checked out of the hotel. The service is all the way.
The location of the hotel is great! Walking distance to subway stations, convenience stores and plenty of restaurants nearby. We spent 3 nights in Itoya hotel, room was small but equipped with good wifi. Check in staff were more than helpful. The complimentary coffee voucher was a nice touch; the quality of the coffee they provided were pretty decent for the Australian's standards.
We stayed 3 nights at the Itoya hotel. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed throughout our honeymoon. The shoe box size room is small but well equipped. We were most happy the bed fitted my 188cm husband comfortably. However, We weren't so sure about the plastic stool/bucket in the bath room, perhaps the hotel are targeting at the Asian traveler? to wash our hair we had to sit down in the bath tub and rearrange shower head; that was quite uncomfortable and inconvenient. The walls between hotel rooms were fairly thin. The noises from the street were fairly loud throughout the night. Its a great shame that the hotel didn't provide the comfort as we would have liked. We love Kyoto but will not be returning to Itoya Kyoto anytime soon.
I liked everything about this hotel!
Great room for the price. Very clean, and quiet.
-Very polite and friendly staff -clean and new rooms
The bathroom was so nice!
The pillows were a little hard and not very comfortable.
Good location, within good walking distance to local subway
We had to return keys to reception each time we left the hotel, which was a bit of a nuisance considering reception is on level two.
I thought the room spotless and compact lovely bath and you did not have to leave everyday for cleaning.Close to station.
It was not suitable for a week no where to sit comfortable to watch tv no view at all great otherwise.
Good place,Good location not far from subway and shopping center, cleaness
I feel bad with Receptionist,a man who work at 3nov14 3pm.,( i book this hotel from booking.com ( i dnt know i hv to pay on checkin day . I think it was paid by my credit card aleady) ) during check in. I hv to take time for checking credit card service . That man, receptionist look at me like i dnt hv money .. Very look down me. Not only me, all my 4friends think that too .. During use my time for checking he told me loundly "U CAN CALL Booking.com "and take telephone to me with boring face . After checking i m ok so i paid with my credit card . I feel very bad for his service ... This is the first time that i ve seen in japan . He should talk and explain me with kindness, not like this .The management should consider on him . Kyoto itoya is good hotel but shoudnt hv worst service receptionist .
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they were very happy to help make reservations, confirm bookings for us. It's just a 15 minute pleasant walk to Kyoto main station and there is a bus stop outside that links you to some of the major tourist sites.
It would be good if they served a western breakfast in addition to the Japanese option so you could choose We ate out every morning.
Modern Clean Friendly staff Good wifi Good location
-Rooms are small -Pricey for what it is - can get much better hotels in Tokyo at a similar rate -Awful shower set up. Shower handle attached outside of the bathtub making it impossible to actually shower by standing
Nice place in downtown Kyoto. Very well looked after. Small but comfortable rooms.
The only window we had gave onto a blind wall. The Japanese should start using double glassed windows. It would reduce traffic noise significantly.
English speaking, friendly staff Welcome coffee/tea Map of surrounding restaurants Big toilet High grade toiletries and amenities
Humidifier water not refilled daily. Single lift Lobby and street level are one level apart, getting the room key becomes a hassle.
The hotel has a very good location with only 5-minutes walk to the subway station. The room is new and clean and the staff is really nice (as in any other hotel in Japan).
It could be a little bit noisy if you leave the window open at night. But it's acceptable.
Close to main shopping street - Shijo-dori (about 7 min walk), and Shijo subway. Friendly, helpful staff - helped with booking of restaurants.
Tiny room with no closet
