Recommended by the Michelin Guide, the Hotel MyStays Kyoto-Shijo is centrally located in Kyoto and is a 6-minute walk from Shijo subway station.
Score from 1154 reviews Excellent
Very courteous staff. Good location near subway by Nijo castle, got room with castle views which had large windows and a wonderful view. Resturants on site. Courier service on site in mornings so could send excess suitcase (from shopping :-) ) onto Toyko at very cheap rate
Nothing of any note
Incredibly helpfull and careful personnel. They very well knows English and gave us real help in drawing up a route in all known places of Kyoto. Arrangement of hotel very convenient for planning of excursions on temple complexes of Kyoto.
Close to everything and public transport. Staff were friendly.
Air conditioning was turned off due to the temperature outside reaching below 20 degrees. The initial room had blood on sheets. The manager did get issue sorted once notified. Uncomfortable bedding. Pillows were rock hard.
Very nice hotel and staff
A bit far from the station, since we were backpacking.
Poor ventilation Very old and worn carpet etc
so so hotel
overpriced, no value for money. this was a last minute option as I could not find any other affordable rooms in Kyoto.
Good location and nice staff
Wifi not available at the rooms. Breakfast too expensive. Mattress too hard
I highly recommend Kyoto Kokusai Hotel to anyone who'd like to visit Kyoto. The hotel is very nice, the rooms are quite big, the staff are very kind. There are a lot of facilities in the hotel, e.g. free wifi in the lobby, an iron (free, on demand), a fridge in the room. You can buy a 1-day bus pass at the reception desk.
Breakfast is not included and it's quite expensive. There is no free wifi in the rooms, even tvough you can use the internet by connecting your computer to the modem by a special cable.
Access to public transportation that reaches most of Kyoto
Age of facility.
Easy access to the buses/ subway.
Opposite the Nijo Castle Very quiet rooms Good service
Breakfast not included (1500+ yen)
They don't have internet in the rooms...not acceptable for a 4 stars hotel
Opposite castle and near metro for links to all important places. Good size room for Japan. Clean and comfortable.
Wi fi only in lobby. Food expensive
WIFI CANNOT GET IN THE ROOM. HAVE TO BE IN THE LOBBY ONLY
All, position hotel facilities, all
If You are à tourist You better go for an hotel nearby gion since public transportation is complexe in the city otherwise hôtel Is really friendly
No curtains meant like askes u up early if You plan to enjoy kyotos night life It Is a problem
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location to visit Nijo Castle which should not be missed! The hotel is quirky and clearly was impressive in the 70s. The style doesn't seem to have changed since then but we liked the quirky charm of the place. Definitely great value for money.
The hotel was a bit of a trek from Kyoto train station and some of the busier streets but there is a subway stop nearby and a bus which stops outside the castle.
Castle is across the road and supermarket down the road great place to stay
Liked that the bus and train stations were nearby. Also, so convenient having Nijo Castle as a landmark to find the hotel.
Not very many restaurants nearby.
The traditional japaness rooms
Need more seating with internet in the lobby not at restauarnt. Update carpeting in lobby arwas
It was great
Only thing was no internet in the rooms
The smell when you enter the room gives a feeling of humid/closed. Ina few minutes you get used to it. Maybe they need a thorough cleaning of the air conditioning ducts.
near train station and nijo castle
the room was smaller than I thought i would be, but it was still comfortable
Staff were friendly and helpful, and location was easy to get to. Conveniently located across the street from the entrance to Nijo Castle.
There is only Wi-Fi in the lobby of the hotel, unless you are a Softbank (Japanese telecom company) customer which will allow you to access Wi-Fi in your room. Very inconvenient and frustrating. There's usually a group of people in the Wi-Fi area of the lobby in the evening. Travelling with an 84 year old grandmother, we had difficulty finding restaurants that were within an acceptable walking distance for us.
Good position handy for buses. Staff were extremely helpful.
