Good location and clean ,we would like to recommend all traveler ,even there outside bathroom ,but very clean ,good staff Ms.Kaori ,thank you for recommend information in Tokyo.
Can experience Japanese living style.
A bit troublesome of shared bathroom. The area outside the room around bathroom, corridor are too cold.
A really beautiful building. Traditional futon bedding was very compfortable. Our host was very kind and helpful with taxis etc, and spoke English really well. Room included a private fridge.
Perhaps more hooks to hang up clothing.
Staff were very helpful and speak English. The wifi is fast. It was definitely an experience to stay in a traditional ryokan. One of the rooms looks over the private court yard so try and request that room if you can.
There is only one bathroom between 4 rooms (and 8 people!) so can be tricky to get to the shower in the mornings. The location isn't great, about 20-25 minutes walk from the station, but the price was much cheaper than other ryokans.
Very clean, very well thought out, authentic machiya, history behind the house, helpful staff, bike rentals are a plus
Thin walls which leak lots of sound (you have to try to tip toe, close doors quietly, and speak softly when you're at home), location is not as close to a train station as it could be, doesn't offer to hold luggage before check-in
Absolutely amazing stay in a hidden gem in Kyoto! The Inn and the staff were great. We would definately go back and highly recommend it. Thank you for such a nice stay!
The Hinoki bath was lovely. The room simple & clean. Standard bicycles available for hire.
It wouldn't hurt for them to make the bed upon arrival.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and spoke good English. We hired bikes from them on one day, which was about half the price of other local hire places and was a great way to get around sites more quickly. The breakfast, served in the room, was a nice selection of Japanese food, with a few western/European bits too. The shared bathroom facilities are on the ground floor and very clean.
The only very very small downside is that there was no wardrobe or storage space for our luggage. But, I think we had the smallest room, so it may have been different in the others, and that is more common in Japan - we have stayed in three hotels so far and only one had a small space for hanging clothes.
I felt that it was centrally located within Kyoto, but not close enough to places to eat and computer at night. The staff is very nice and they try to help you as much a they can. It is clean, good wifi connection.
Our room was right in the street. Shared toilets despite the price. No meals and not close to anywhere to easily get meals. It's a pretty basic place , if you just need a place to crash for an evening with no frills then this is the place.
Kindness of the staff, Beauty of an old japanese house, the bath...
Maybe staff should improve his english… But it's a problem you have quite everywhere in Japan
The service was fantastic. The inn was incredibly authentic and clean, with western toilets and a beautiful shower and bathing facility. The room was air conditioned really effectively.
When we arrived there were maintenance works that we were unaware of. We were told it would cease in the afternoon however it continued late into the night not finishing until after 9pm. It was fairly disruptive, albeit the owner was very apologetic and refunded some of our payment. Given the room wasn't very cheap, we were still a bit disappointed as the room became very light in the morning and typical inns are very noisy.
Everything. Yasuko (the manager) is great, very friendly and helpful. She gave us a nice honeymoon welcome with a cold bottle of sparkling wine. The ryokan is not big but really beautiful, clean and tipical. Our room in 2nd floor was big and very very confotable. Great air conditioning, foutongs, yukatas and wifi. Very well located close to bus stops to go everywere in Kyoto.
They don't have kitchen so they offer breakfast from a close restaurant. Anyway we didn't try it because there is a huge supermarket with everything down the corner.
Very nice interiour, lovely garden and friendly staff.
You can easily hear other guests thru walls.
The quality of the woodwork, materials, etc. The beauty of the interior and exterior. Great service.
Having to descend a staircase to use toilet. Very thin walls and easy to hear other guests.
The guesthouse is newly renovated and is a lovely example of a small (only 3 rooms!) Japanese guesthouse. Yamada-san, the innkeeper, was friendly and helpful.
There were no curtains in our room so the light came streaming in early in the morning. Also, those who are not used to sleeping on real Japanese futons may not sleep very comfortably.
The place is beautiful and feels very authentic. Staff was really helpful and made great recommendations. We had a very pleasant stay.
The hall leading to the shower and bath was maybe a bit cold. The rest was fantastic.
It was a real ryokan. You could feel it was very traditional and it had all the details in a proper condition. The owner was a traditional japanese man. Located in the half way of most of the important temples. Very well communicated.
It doesn't have kitchen.
