Kyoto Hotel Okura  

The Kyoto Okura is a lovely, quiet and very friendly hotel with a well deserved reputation and tradition. We will definitely return to the Kyoto Okura and would recommend it without any hesitation.

Absoulutely nothing we disliked.

The staff was super helpful, especially the conceirge (sp?) services, the location was perfect for sightseeing & shopping, the rooms were a good size and very clean.

I didn't like that we couldn't use the pool during the day or evening, and that my 2 sons (ages 15 & 17) couldn't use it at all. I think for the price we were paying the do-it-yourself coffee should have been included. It would be very useful to have WIFI in the rooms, not only the lobby.

The killer view of the mountains, the modern but old school luxurious rooms, the extra touches like the special drawer with neatly arranged whiskies, the wide variety of in house restaurants (Irifane being the star). Lastly, the staff were beyond helpful, polite, and friendly.

We were very pleased with the accomodations. The room size was comparable to an average size room in the US. Japanese hotels are known for small rooms, but this one was luxurious and perfect size. We had a standard twin room (firm beds, but pillows were not comfortable). The bath is spacious with a separate shower and tub. Concierge was well-informed - gave us detailed directions to use the bus to the many sights (500Y/day unlimited bus pass sold at concierge). Easy subway access, too.

The hotel is perfection.

If you are on a budget, you can eat good inexpensive food at the shopping area nearby.

This was an excellent city centre base, from which it was easy to explore different aspects of Kyoto (temples, shrines, shopping nearby). The staff were incredibly helpful, polite and friendly. We were recommended this hotel by our Japanese friends.

Great location, nicely appointed rooms. The concierge staff is one of the best we've encountered with excellent English, an encyclopedic knowledge of Kyoto (backed up by lots of reference materials) and a very helpful attitude. I was smitten by the female bellhops with their pillbox hats.

Very friendly and helpfull staff, everybody spoke excellent english. Room absolut perfect! Location of the Hotel very central and convinient, because subway entrance through the Hotel. Saturday wedding celebrations in the main lobby...interesting.

Hospitality of hotel staff and location

All staff of the hotel was very kind, helpful and friendly; Guest relation Services was exceptionnel and excellent. The two ladies turned our vacation in Kyoto into an unforgettable series of exclusive dinners and organized a decent trip to Hiroshima and further.

to booking.com: I would have appreciated in advance that the swimming pool is not unlimited accessible at my rate.

Helpful staff, location

The policy of not quoting the money from the first time of booking, I payed some taxes like consumption and service. I wish to book a room including all taxes and price in advance like my other bookings of other hotels.
