The private onsen in the room. The seven course dinner.

    The oil massage was expensive.

A really relaxing establishment. Attentive but low key staff. Lovely food and (family) bath. The suite with a private hot tub was exquisite.

A bit expensive for our budget, but it was worth every single yen. We arrived together with the rain season, which made our stay even more unique and unforgettable.

This hotell is excellent. We had a room with wonderful view of the valley, private bath and added also the traditional Japanese dinner. The dinner left a very positive memory of tastes. We will come back again.

I liked the upgraded suite A with the private bath.

the food wasn't what I expected. I wanted a more elaborate Keiseki dinner.

A modern small hotel with very stylish furnishing and peaceful atmosphere. We had a large suite with wonderful view of the mountains and with a private onsen. The hotel also has public onsens. You get kimonos to walk around with the entire stay in the hotel, including breakfast and dinner. If you like Japanese food, breakfast and dinner is amazing, and beautifully served. Incredibly good service.

We had the corner suite and it offered great views and the layout was incredible

The dinner could be more elaborate although the ingredients were great and seasonal

The quiet environment, the comfort and space of the private onsen room, the staff hospitality, the food freshness

    The stay is too short

''Customers Services at its best'' Truly a stunning resort! The view was breathtaking, amazing food and relaxing onsen facilities. What makes it special for me was the superior level of customers service. On the second day of our stay, I had an eye infection and needed to visit a doctor. The Staff helped me organised a really good specialist, one who speaks English, upon our arrival at the with contact details, and confirmed doctor appointment for us. No more could I ask for; you do pay for what you get!!

Private onsen in the room. Large and luxurious suites. Dinner also included in the room price. Expensive but really worth the money. By far the best hotel we went to during our one month trip across Japan. Special mention to M.Suzuki, extremely professionnal whatever the circumstances. Great job!

extremely nice and welcoming staff, they really went the extra mile (e.g drove us to the nearby open-air museum which is really worth a visit) really good and attentive service our suite was simply great with a really nice view baths were great

we expected more of the dinner, compared to other meals we had during our stay in Japan with this price the food should have been better. It was by now means of bad quality but did not just have that wow effect

My family love everything about Hotel Manatei. This place is "Haven" for us. The staff are very nice, polite and respecful. The food was scrumptious and each dish presentation was very artistic! You almost don't want to eat it because it's so beautiful! Each time, we look forward to Breakfast and dinner. That's how good it is! Ken-san and Hitomi-san who both serve the hotel guest in the dining area were so attentive to guest needs. Very nice people. This place is absolutely heaven, very quiet, relaxing and breath taking views of the mountain from our room. I love our wooden private hot spring bath tub in the balcony. You can soak as much as you want in the privacy of your own room. The free shuttle service makes up for the lack of accessibility from the train station to the hotel. Zuzuki-san (very nice man) will take you and pick you up from the Train station. We will be back next year....every year for that matter.

    Nothing at all.

We opted for a suite with a private onsen- totally worth the splurge! Great view, excellent room, and superb service. Stayed in business hotels our whole trip, so we could stay here for one night. Their car service was great- will take you to nearby train stations.

Dinner and Breakfast are included- both were very good, but felt like they were bending a bit toward western tastes- would have preferred a more traditional menu.

Overall very pleasant visit. Staff is very helpful and organized with nice personal service, including rides to and from the train station. Japanese dinner and breakfast were very good. 2 futon beds were added to our room to accommodate our 2 children, which worked well. In addition to hot bath in the room, we enjoyed the family public baths. Had also a very good massage.

No real complaints, only the cost, which is high but seems to be consistent with the area.

Not a big hotel, only a handful of rooms so lots of privacy.

The hot spring didn't seem to be filled with the real stuff. It's more like hot water from the tap. A major disappointment. Food served at both breakfast and dinner was not particularly tasty.

This place is amazing. The hotel staff was so friendly and super helpful, they also spoke English well. Best service I have ever had. They picked us up and dropped us off at the station as well as providing tea on your arrival. We had the room with a private onsen and it was amazing. The room was huge with the view of the waterfall. I willl most definitely stay in this hotel again.

I told the hotel manager who is a person with excellent humour, that I would not evaluate this hotel to keep it as secret. But it will be very unfair. I hope they will not put up the prices. We liked this hotel very much. Private baths are amazingly good. We were booked with half board and had dinner and breakfast. The selection, the sequencing, the presentation and abundance of modern and traditional Japanese food was an experience. I thanked the chef in person. We requested a room with the valley view and enjoyed the sound of the creek. This hotel is secluded and away from any centre etc. which is suitable for us. Great retreat. I hope we can visit this hotel again. Note: We took the bus from Hakone Yumoto train station. Bus stop is literally across the street. You can drop your bags to the hotel reception and collect them at Hakone Yumoto station. Check the deadline hours, though. Communicate with the staff they are very helpful.

Could not stay one more day as the next day was a public holiday. The food was so good I had to leave my diet. (for a noble cause)
