Nice little Ryokan. Staff was very friendly and relatively close to the Kyoto Station.
The shower room is shared although toilet is private.
The staff and owners were extremely dedicated and attentive. The hotel is run like a much love loved family business.
There is little I can fault really, not for the price tag.
authentic hotel near the station. very friendly stuff, who speaks english.
Nice and clean. We had the garden room on first floor that was nice (although maybe an unnecessary extravagance).
The cook wasn't there the weekend so we couldn't order a meal. If I were to do it again I would stay in a Ryokan with supper and breakfast. Only stayed one night... That was all the Ryokan novelty that I needed
Staff speaks English and is very welcoming and friendly. We had to book for a show (kabuki) and they helped us very nicely by calling the theatre, same for a restaurant we absolutely wanted to go to! The location is great (right between Kyoto Station and nice places for diner, temple visits and shopping). I would definitely recommend this place for your stay in Kyoto!
Could hear neighbours tv and murmuring one night, at sleep time
Cleanliness Staff (nice and helpful) Relaxing place Japanese breakfast
Nothing really...maybe the location, even though it's not that bad, it is very close to the bus stops but a bit far from Kyoto station
Staffs are very friendly. The location is great, only 10 minitues' walking to Kyoto JR terminal. We took a Japanese style studio for families, it was clean and cozy.
Particularly clean with friendly stuff. Great location and price.
everyhing was great
Centrally located and helpful staff.
Location, easy to find Nice and clean
Wonderful staff, always helpful and alert, and there was always someone on site that knew english. Wonderful rooms in japanese style complete with tatami mats and all. Nothing in the room was found to be worn out. Location was great, close to Kyoto station and the subway.
The bathroom might be better (but it was not worse than any other bathroom in any japanese hotel that we've visited).
The room: We stayed in a traditional Japanese style room, with twin futons as per our request. We stayed for 5 nights including 3 of the hottest nights in Kyoto but we were made comfortable with the air-con! Plenty of room for all of our things. The staff: Super nice and friendly and helpful! We asked for an iron and ironing board and they brought one up right away. We asked for restaurant recommendations and they made fantastic suggestions which were close by/easy to find. They always said hello/have a nice day/welcome back when we came and went. Their English is very good! The breakfast: GREAT! We had breakfast with the ryokan every morning! It is worth trying the Japanese breakfast at least once, I had it twice! The western style breakfast is also done very well and at very good prices! They also sell bus passes and have many pamphlets for day tours/excursions available, and maps with the bus route too. There is a subway close by and the directions from staff were clear and easy to understand. Only a 10 minute walk to Kyoto Station. I look forward to staying here again when I return to Kyoto, which I certainly will.
Japanese breakfast is excellent
It would be better if there were more kitchen facilities.
Very helpful staff. Japanese breakfast was great.
We were 2 adults and 2 children 11 and 14. We paid close to USD1000 for three nights. Stunningly expensive.
The staff members were incredibly kind. It was a pleasure staying at this ryokan. It's a short walk to Kyoto Station. Highly recommend it!
We had a great time staying here. Got a 6 mat room on the second floor and enjoyed the free tea on the mat. The staff were very helpful and gave us great recommendations for dinner within walking distance.
As a ryokan, the price was very reasonable but compared to hostels, it was the most expensive place we stayed in Japan - it was worth it for the experience though, so we would still do it again!
Of all the seven hotels I stayed in my Japan trip, this ends up highest on my list. The location was excellent, the personal was very friendly and helpful (with a small souvenir when checking out). Sure, the room was extremely small (or maybe I'm a bit too tall), but as a solo traveler, I didn't mind that much. In any case, this hotel fully met my expectations.
My room was almost opposite the coin laundry machine. And yes, despite the sign not to use it after 10pm or before 8am, there are always people who don't read those signs. So I think it wouldn't be a bad idea if the closet in which the laundromat is place is being locked during those hours.
It was a good Japanese like experience, once you get an idea of where it is at it is pretty close to the bus/train station. It was also near attractions and close to the station.
It was a little difficult to find, it helped to ask people around for help. I recommend just coming out from the bus exit of the Kyoto station, go straight all the way, The Kyoto tower should be across the street on your left. The road will naturally curve and you will see it after 5-7 mins on your right.
The room was spotless, and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from Kyoto Station, and the main shopping street is also within walking distance. It's close to a large temple, which taxi drivers knew, making it easy to get back by cab in a city where drivers peak minimal English. If you want a clean, reasonably priced to stay, and you want to sleep on a futon on tatami, this would be a great place for you. If you want the full-blown ryokan experience (multiple meals, more pomp and circumstance), then you'll have to pay more for that.
Very quiet, good laundry facilities, excellent staff, clean. A good way to experience a traditional Japanese way of living.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and helped us with planning our transportation around Kyoto. The room was wonderful and comfortable, and we had a good experience staying in a beautiful Japanese room. The Japanese breakfast is delicious and filling with lots of portions. And lastly, the location of the ryokan is excellent, about 5 minutes walking distance from the gojo subway station, restaurants, coffee shops and the Kyoto train station.
The authentic experience of a Japanese Ryoken.
