Particularly clean with friendly stuff. Great location and price.
everyhing was great
Centrally located and helpful staff.
Location, easy to find Nice and clean
Very helpful staff. Japanese breakfast was great.
We were 2 adults and 2 children 11 and 14. We paid close to USD1000 for three nights. Stunningly expensive.
The staff members were incredibly kind. It was a pleasure staying at this ryokan. It's a short walk to Kyoto Station. Highly recommend it!
We had a great time staying here. Got a 6 mat room on the second floor and enjoyed the free tea on the mat. The staff were very helpful and gave us great recommendations for dinner within walking distance.
As a ryokan, the price was very reasonable but compared to hostels, it was the most expensive place we stayed in Japan - it was worth it for the experience though, so we would still do it again!
Of all the seven hotels I stayed in my Japan trip, this ends up highest on my list. The location was excellent, the personal was very friendly and helpful (with a small souvenir when checking out). Sure, the room was extremely small (or maybe I'm a bit too tall), but as a solo traveler, I didn't mind that much. In any case, this hotel fully met my expectations.
My room was almost opposite the coin laundry machine. And yes, despite the sign not to use it after 10pm or before 8am, there are always people who don't read those signs. So I think it wouldn't be a bad idea if the closet in which the laundromat is place is being locked during those hours.
It was a good Japanese like experience, once you get an idea of where it is at it is pretty close to the bus/train station. It was also near attractions and close to the station.
It was a little difficult to find, it helped to ask people around for help. I recommend just coming out from the bus exit of the Kyoto station, go straight all the way, The Kyoto tower should be across the street on your left. The road will naturally curve and you will see it after 5-7 mins on your right.
The room was spotless, and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from Kyoto Station, and the main shopping street is also within walking distance. It's close to a large temple, which taxi drivers knew, making it easy to get back by cab in a city where drivers peak minimal English. If you want a clean, reasonably priced to stay, and you want to sleep on a futon on tatami, this would be a great place for you. If you want the full-blown ryokan experience (multiple meals, more pomp and circumstance), then you'll have to pay more for that.
Very quiet, good laundry facilities, excellent staff, clean. A good way to experience a traditional Japanese way of living.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and helped us with planning our transportation around Kyoto. The room was wonderful and comfortable, and we had a good experience staying in a beautiful Japanese room. The Japanese breakfast is delicious and filling with lots of portions. And lastly, the location of the ryokan is excellent, about 5 minutes walking distance from the gojo subway station, restaurants, coffee shops and the Kyoto train station.
The authentic experience of a Japanese Ryoken.
The staff is really nice and friendly. After a long day of sightseeing you are always welcomed back with pleasant words and a smile. They tolerate with my poor Japanese :). Regarding the facility, one thing that sets them apart is that they have a gas drier, which, means that you can spend more time sightseeing and less time waiting for your clothes to dry. I won't forget that after we checked out, the proprietor stood in front of the inn, waiting until we were ready to turn the corner onto Karasuma Dori (about a block away), to bid us a one more farewell.
Pretty much everything. The staff is super nice, the breakfast is very good. The rooms are great... The location is pretty good as it is 10 mons by foot from the station and not very far from the main streets and shops
Very comfortable, very clean, and very quiet. Excellent location; short walk to Kyoto station and buses, and also to Gion district and eastern Kyoto.
I liked pretty much everything about this inn. Just keep in mind that this is a small inn in the middle of Kyoto, not a big hotel in the middle of Tokyo. -Very easy to find from the Kyoto train station. Just a 10 minute walk. The directions on the website are all you need. -Close to subway and bus stops to get wherever you need to go within Kyoto. -The rooms are beautiful and meticulously kept. They even have kitchenettes, which I didn't use but was still a nice touch. -Great breakfast options. You can do simple eggs and toast on the fly, or a full Japanese breakfast if you order by 8pm the night before. I would definitely recommend trying the Japanese breakfast at least once, if that's your thing. -The entire staff was extremely patient and accommodating to me and my friends who are all non-Japanese speakers. -A special shout out to Bodi-san, a young staff member who effectively became our concierge. He gave great advice on dining as well as getting around the city. -They are serious about check-in and check-out times, but were willing to hold my luggage both when I arrived a few hours early and left a few hours late. If I ever return to Kyoto I will not even bother to look at other places unless this is full.
Location is good and staff is nice, also friendly. Room is clean and comfortable, but little small. The tatami smell sooooo good, we both love it!
Room is a little small.
Location and the style of the hotel
Good value for money, nice chance to get some traditional experience for reasonable price. Close to the station. The staff is absolutely great.
There was some strong smell in the room, must be some room fragrance, I wouldn't call it pleasant.
Preserved and authentic inner design of the rooms. Yukatas and tea available for guests.
Bathroom. Ibis-style plastic box that was put in the corner of your room. This could be forgiven in a cheapy-cheap 2* hotel but not with this price tag. The windows of our room looked to the parking lot.
Bathroom is too small. Not recommended for plus size people. No shaver for men.
People in there was very kind and the room was cozy.
Superb staff (esp Budi- receptionist), wonderful Japanese breakfast, clean room with lovely japanese garden
Small shower, room (#101) a bit noisy as next to dining hall
