The modern design, excellent staff service, location is 10 minutes walk to the central Kyoto Station. Lawson and Sukuya are nearby.
The price is way too expensive for the room. Even I could find 4 stars hotel in downtown Tokyo with the same rate.
spotless; convenient location to Kyoto Station
noises coming from other rooms at night; weird noises in the room (301) after turning off the light; wifi on and off
Japanese breakfast was tasty and satisfying.
Would have liked staff to make a few suggestions about things to do but they had very little time. Also, breakfast room is a bit small.
Great location! The staff is very helpful. He recommended us a small cozy traditional Japanese style restaurant where the food was good, and the atmosphere was also very "Japanese."
Ideal location, gorgeous staff, beautiful room:) loved it!
Proximity to Kyoto Station - 10 to 15 minutes walk depending on pace. Minimum taxi fare to reach Kyoto station Yen 590 only Quiet and peaceful environment Privacy
Pillows were too soft and becomes flat when head is rested on it Sound proofing could be a bit better Little or no English programs on TV Additional hooks and railings in the small bathroom would be appreciated
Staff were friendly and room was clean and comfortable. Location is very quiet.
No meals provided with price, breakfast was very early and 1000 yen. There was no common room or accessible garden.
We really enjoyed having the traditional style tatami room and the little details the staff paid to the room to make us feel welcomed and relaxed. We really liked having the feel of traditional Japanese room with the privacy of a western bathroom/shower. The ryokan is a short and easy walk to Kyoto station. There are plenty of stores and places to get daily travel necessities from. The breakfast at the ryokan is great and good value for money. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We have a lovely time during our stay at Matsubaya Ryokan.
Nice little Ryokan. Staff was very friendly and relatively close to the Kyoto Station.
The shower room is shared although toilet is private.
They were very helpful with giving directions and assisting us in any way. They spoke good English and treated us with respect. The rooms were clean and a nice bathroom. Good location. fast Wi-Fi
They need an onsen! Every ryokan should have one. Felt a bit too modernized.
The staff and owners were extremely dedicated and attentive. The hotel is run like a much love loved family business.
There is little I can fault really, not for the price tag.
authentic hotel near the station. very friendly stuff, who speaks english.
Pleasant staff Good location Excellent Japanese breakfast
The hotel is located near Kyoto Station, just a 15 minute walk away (and only 5 minutes if you follow the station's underground walkway all the way to the end). Ask for directions at the information booth at Kyoto Station. It makes it easier to find your way through the station. The staff speaks English reasonably well and gave us maps and advice for taking buses and the subway. We took buses, which were easy to use with the map provided to us. Within easy bus rides are the Nijo Castle, Imperial Palace, and several interesting Buddhist temples. The rooms are not large, but they are very clean, modern, and comfortable. And more than large enough for our needs. The wifi worked just fine, like it is supposed to. You won't get great views from your bedroom window, especially if you are on a lower flower. It's a small place in the middle of the city. However, we were on the fifth floor (they have an elevator) and so we liked looking over the rooftops and alleys of our little part of the city. We could see the Kyoto Tower from the balcony. The staff let us check in early to hold our bags in our room, and they held our bags after we checked out while we toured the city before we left. The Japanese breakfast was very good and reasonably priced. I recommend it. They also serve eggs and toast, if you want a more conventional Western breakfast. By the way, just around the corner from the hotel is a place that rents bikes. Again, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Nice and clean. We had the garden room on first floor that was nice (although maybe an unnecessary extravagance).
The cook wasn't there the weekend so we couldn't order a meal. If I were to do it again I would stay in a Ryokan with supper and breakfast. Only stayed one night... That was all the Ryokan novelty that I needed
Excellent and friendly staff. Most of them spoke English very well and answered all my questions. They even let me leave my luggage even after check out when I went sight seeing. They even gave me a small souvenir (a pack of wooden chopsticks). The location is about 12-15 minutes walk from the station. It was hard to find at first, but very conveniently placed. In the common area, they had flyers of things to do in Kyoto, and they will also give you a bus and subway guide map, which is very convenient. The futon was very comfy. There was wifi in the room. I would definitely stay there when I visit Kyoto again.
The location was a bit hard to find, but ask around and people are helpful (there is a police box in the same street). The room was very small, I can't imagine how my things will fit if I had a bigger luggage. My room in the 3rd floor was near the washing machine and dryer so sometimes it was noisy, although guests are not allowed to use the washer and dryer after 10pm.
the staffs are very friendly, always be ready to provide help. When we checked out, they saw us off until taxi disappear from their sight. Very cozy and nice place to stay, definitely will recommend to other friends.
Staff speaks English and is very welcoming and friendly. We had to book for a show (kabuki) and they helped us very nicely by calling the theatre, same for a restaurant we absolutely wanted to go to! The location is great (right between Kyoto Station and nice places for diner, temple visits and shopping). I would definitely recommend this place for your stay in Kyoto!
Great and respectful service. I stayed at this hotel for 9 nights and the staff rapidly adapted to my rhythm. They gave me great recommendations when necessary, to make it simple, amazing Japanese hospitality. The hotel has been recently entirely renovated and feels very clean. The rooms retain an older style, but the futon is doubled up and comfort or cleanliness was never an issue. The hotel location is ideal, walking distance from Kyoto station. I highly recommend renting a bicycle from the nearby shop; the hotel has a dedicated bicycle parking which makes visiting the city very easy. All of this at one of the best prices in town.
-Room decoration was perhaps a bit lacking, but I'm stretching it. I was quite happy with Japanese simplicity!
Could hear neighbours tv and murmuring one night, at sleep time
Cleanliness Staff (nice and helpful) Relaxing place Japanese breakfast
Nothing really...maybe the location, even though it's not that bad, it is very close to the bus stops but a bit far from Kyoto station
Staffs are very friendly. The location is great, only 10 minitues' walking to Kyoto JR terminal. We took a Japanese style studio for families, it was clean and cozy.
Particularly clean with friendly stuff. Great location and price.
everyhing was great
