Brian is very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay in Matsumoto. The location is very convenient as it is near to the train station. It is easy to find and MBP gave very clear instructions to the place. It is located at a nice and quiet neighbourhood and we enjoyed the walk around the place and to the nearby attractions. Brian was very helpful in providing those information.
The hostel is well situated, 5 minutes from the station and 15 minutes from the castle. The owner Brian is very friendly, with a lot of advices about what to do in town. The hostel is clean and is really a friendly place that I would recommend strongly to everyone! I slept well and I really appreciated my stay in Matsumoto thanks to Brian and the people I met there!
Super friendly owner who is always ready to answer your questions about Japan and Matsumoto. It was a cold night so he even prepared us the heading bottles (to warm up the bed) <3
Walking distance from the station and the castle Very useful couple to explain about Japanese alps Great atmosphere Sauna (onsen) very close by
Not much actually did not really have any issue
Friendly staff, Japanese style bedrooms, great value for money
Good location, friendly staff, good advice for activities
The owners of this guesthouse are very helpfull, friendly and knows the area quite well. The location of this guesthouse is also good. It's a 12 minute walk from the JR station. And there is a very nice onsen at 10 minutes walk of the guest house with different indoor and outdoor pools. Very pleasant and one of the best in Japan!
Friendliness and very helpful owner who can speak excellent English as he is Irish
The hosts are so welcoming and hapoy to help you to plan trips, tell you where the best onsen nearby is et etc. They create a nice athmosphere for the whole place. Also location near train station was a definitive plus.
Maybe shared rooms are bit on small side
A nice house, very close to the city center. Brian and Shuko were very friendly and helpful hosts. Great place for bacpackers.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.
Brian and Shuko are excellent hosts, very nice friendly place to stay.
I recommend the place for backpackers. The staff is super friendly - giving good advice on turist atraction around the area/ speak both Japanese and English, the price is super reasonable for Japan, and the location very convenient. It is also a good starting point for going to Japanese Alps.
I cannot think of any negative aspects, taking into consideration that it is a vey reasonably priced and clean hostel.
Few minutes by foot from the train station, really nice (English-speaking) owner, give me useful recommendations,
The walls are pretty thin, so you might think of using ear plugs
The hostel is very close to the train station, so that you can go on foot from the station in about 10 minutes. The room wasss a bit small for three people, but the fouton was confortable. The kitchen is well equiped and it is possible to cook.
My room was upstairs and the toilet is downstairs, so it was very incovenient to go to the toilet at night, specially because the staircase is very steep.
Brian and Shuko's great sense of what we need as guests and customers - ratio of hospitality and project management, so to say :) lovely and very clean house, splendid location, guidance to whatever needs to be seeen and what is good to see
- Sleeping in a futon on tatami - Perfect english speaking staff - Very helpful staff
- No air conditioning(but it was not too hot)
I love all of things in here
The owners are a very cool couple, who can provide good advice about Matsumoto city and the hikes around it. The hostel feels like home, is clean, calm, and beautifully located.
Friendly, amenities a MF environmental conscious
A comfortable, clean and location near to train station hostel.
Very friendly and helpful host, cosy, clean
Private rooms were cramped
–Brian and Shuko were very friendly to have a chat with and had an open door to approach them about anything. –Room had good amount of storage to stow away bags so that they weren't in the way –Clean –Wifi was quite fast and consistent –Easy, close walk to station –Supermarket right at the end of the road
–There is a rail bridge you have to walk under to get there, which felt a bit uneasy walking under at night.
The staff was very nice and if you're travelling with a heavy backpack, the location is very convenient.
