Lovely hotel with lots of facilities. Shopping and bars and even a bakery. You can see Mount Fuji from the bar on a good day. Rooms were plenty big enough with comfortable beds.
The hotel had building work going on which they knew about at the time of booking. I feel they could have told us at the time we booked to allow us to make a more informed choice. The work started at 0830 which ordinarily would have been fine, but with jetlag it did impede our rest at times. Bar prices were very steep.
close to station and bus to Airport leaves from Hotel easier than going over to Train Station
Small rooms but that is Tokyo
Only a 2 minute walk to Ikebukuro train station and the giant Tobu and Seibu department stores. Lots of restaurants around the area to dine in. This was my fourth visit to this hotel and will stay here again.
The room was comfortable - and clean. The location was was conveniently located near the train station.
No internet in the room. I had to go to the lobby to retrieve important emails - and even then, it had very poor signal
I like the location.
I thought the room type I booked would be bigger than the one I check~in!!
The room Limousine bus service The lobby The breakfast
The cost of the breakfast
Everything -- location. cleanliness courtesy .style of room. great breakfast , great for all transportation good service to airport great fro shopping lots of variety for eating and clubs nearby
inflexible check in and check out
Everything else. Apart from the female receptionists, all other staff including the bellboys/girls, housekeeping staff and staff in the Japanese restaurant etc were helpful and kind.
Rude female receptionists who sneered whenever they realised our reservation was made through booking.com. They then became singularly unhelpful. We did not encounter this attitude with the male receptionists. Only one female (who exchanged our room keys) was polite.
Location Staff Comfort
Location and facilities are convenient Members of staff from information desk and room service go the extra mile Magnificent hotel
Not free wifi Front desk members of staff a bit stiff/cold Dated furniture/carpet
Location is near Ikebukuro train station.
Room size is quite small.
1. Good location. 2. Shopping center 3. There is a bus directly from hotel to airport.
We were 4 adult siblings travelling with their 2 elderly parents and we stayed two nights at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo. Once we booked for the rooms, Hotel reservation emailed us explaining the check-in time. We wrote back requesting an earlier check-in for my parents' room at an extra charge as stated. Everything was arranged and upon hearing that we were on the red-eye flight arriving at 6:30 am and that my father is a liver cancer patient, the hotel went ahead to provide my parents with the room fully ready at 9:30 am when we arrived. They not only waived that early check-in charges, they touched all our hearts by placing a "Welcome Cake" in the fridge and setting up the table with a tray with 6 napkins, 6 sets of cutlery. It was indeed a pleasant surprise and a fantastic start to our trip to Japan. Words cannot express how grateful and touched we were. Other comments as below (1) Location - (a) It is just a 3-min walk to the Ikebukuro Station and the information desk at the hotel gave us very good instructions as to how to walk there. With the train station around, you can travel to anywhere along the super efficient subway train service Tokyo has, even my parents rode the train with us from Shinjuku back to the hotel. (b) The big department store Tobu is where the train station is on the side of Hotel Metropolitan, while the other big store, Seibu is located opposite side across the train tracks. (c) A popular Ramen Store (be prepared to queue for it though) is also just 600 m away. Really delicious and quite an experience. (d) There are a few 24-hour convenient stores (7-Eleven, Lawson, Family Mart) all within walking distance from the hotel. (e) Little small eateries are available all around the hotel too. You will never go hungry! (2) Taking the Airport Limousine Bus to and fro hotel was really easy. The porters handled the luggage professionally - tagged them, loaded them efficiently.
We were on the 19th floor. Rooms were bigger than expected and really clean. Hotel was close to the train station so getting around was really easy.
Restaurants at the hotel were a bit overpriced, especially breakfast.
Clean and tidy. Good location
Service standards are good and the presence of committed staff enhance the hotel as one that I would select for a repeat visit. I commend Mr. Nakatani, for example, the hotel's concierge for his knowledge, attention to detail and for going above and beyond the call of duty. On a previous stay at the hotel, he accompanied my son to the hospital due to an emergency and provided care and concern to me as an anxious parent. During a long conversation in the waiting room of the hospital, he did much to promote Japan as a tourist destination and talk about his approach to work. He even stayed with us till we got back to the hospital, despite it eating into his rest time. I am impressed by his work ethic and commitment to the job. The hotel is fortunate to have such a staff in their employ. In my recent stay at the hotel, we met Mr. Nakatani again and he could remember my name and where I was from, despite it being nearly a year since our last visit. Unfortunately, I did not get to speak to him because he insisted on attending to a work matter, which took priority. Please ensure he gets a commendation!
One of the front counter staff was not very helpful when queried on the existence of breakfast vouchers, as we checked in. It took considerable encouragement before the said vouchers were produced. She was polite, but not helpful.
close to train station and attractions. restaurant on site and other different eateries close by
food prices quite high
- clean - close to Metro Station - service
