Location Public Hot Baths Hotel was old fashioned but not in a charming way. Room smelt musty. Not up to the standard of other traditional hotels we stayed in on our trip.

Very expensive for what it is. Better to stay in Hiroshima and visit the island as a day trip.

The location was excellent, however we found it a little difficult to find on our first night. Service was prompt and polite with the staff being very informative about the island. We thought it was a little pricey for the quality, however the location more than made up for it.

A fantastic ryokan hotel to experience and enjoy the beautiful Miyajima island in a traditional Japanese way! A little expensive, but you pay the price to stay at the island.

Great location on island - close to everything. Great sea view (and torii gate view!) from our window. Very big room. Kaiseki dinner was alright, but not fab. (It included the notorious fugu fish, however.) The best thing about this hotel, and the entire village, in fact, was the atmospheric feeling of slightly worn 60's-70's luxury - it was kind of like being thrown into a Bond movie. We were fully aware that the tatami mat beds would be thin and hard - and they were. Also, overall, if you are looking for real luxury, you'd probably better choose one of the more expensive small-scale ryokans on the island.

No volveria jamas

We enjoyed the experience of staying in a traditional Japanese ryokan. We stayed at several hotels on this trip and this was the best. Given the opportunity we would go back to this hotel and spend more time on Miyajima.

Onsen publique ouvert tard. Pas de petit déjeuner inclus.

The room was comfortable and big with very good facilities. The communal bath was very good and relaxing with enough space for everyone that visited the bath in the evening. The bath was open until midnight and in the morning. The western breakfast we had was excellent (much better than expected). We did not reserve with dinner as the English sites for reservation was very confusing regarding what type of dinner you would get on the different price levels. We assumed that dinner could be arranged when we checked in, but that was not really the case. The only option they offered us was the most expensive dinner (15 000 Yen / person). I know from other reviews that other (lower priceced) dinner options exist at the hotel, but obviously not when you did not included it in your reservation in advance. Overall the service level at the reception was poor for "westeners" as the staff spoke very little English, which was a bit surprising for such expensive hotel. Summay: you need help from a Japanese speeking person when you reserve the room if you want room and dinner , at least if you want to know which type of dinner you will get as even the more low priced dinner options are quite expensive.
