The luxurious ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) Fuji Onsenji Yumedono is located just over a quarter mile from Lake Kawaguchiko.
Score from 118 reviews Excellent 8.7/10
A 7-minute walk from Lake Kawaguchi, the 2-person cottages at Ururun have a quaint European charm and offer a spa bath with Mount Fuji views.
Score from 28 reviews Exceptional 9.7/10
Its location gives it the unbeatable view of the Mt. Fuji and the lake that I don't think any hotel in the neighboring area can compete. There is a bus stop 5 mins down the slope. The deco in the room is surely romantic. Excellent dinner and breakfast offer. The staffs are friendly and kind.
The mattress is tooooo old and somehow the spring in it really bothers your sleep. It's a pity that a hotel like this should have mattress this terrible.
This was a friendly little hotel which I used a base for my overnight climb of Mount Fuji. In reality I didn't spend that much time at the hotel as I arrived and checked in only to head straight out for the overnight climb returning in the morning to then sleep for most of my second day. A big thank you to the staff who on my second night came to see me and offer me a free breakfast as I had a double room as a single traveler and it was a bit expensive. This was a very nice touch
I would really only recommend staying here if you are planning on doing Mount Fuji as there is little else to do in Kawaguchiko
Nice views to the lake and Mt. Fuji. Shuttle bus to the train station in the mornings. Friendly staff.
Very poor public transport acces. A very steep road to reach the hotel. Expensive
Fuji view from bedroom
The view was spectacular. Bikes were great.
Facilities need some refurbishing. Staff didn't understand the need for more than one cup of coffee at breakfast!
As the headline says - waking each morning to a view of Fuji and watching the sun set on it was a daily treat. Western style room and food made this an easy introduction to Japan. The public bathing facility added another dimension to our cultural experience. Polite, helpful and friendly staff eased any language difficulties we had (true in fact of our experience of the Japanese everywhere we went)
Location/balcony. Good view of Mountain Fuji.
Needed to climb a steep slope before reach to the hotel.
Perfect place for rest n relax, so quiet. Bonding moment with my family, indeed. So memorable. We plan to go back again here someday soon. #crossingfinger#
Staff was great. Very good English. Location was okay but the view was quite nice. No real complaints.
Amazing service, the staff we had were so helpful.
A little difficult to find if you dont have a GPS
Staff, me Watanake , he is first class at his job, and breakfast .
View from the balcony was amazing with clear skies. Nice size room, great facilities at hotel. Staff very helpful and nice.
The immediate surrounding area didn't offer much of interest. The bed in our room was terrible. I actually slept on the floor on our second night there.
Location, location, location
Rooms are a bit run-down, meals are overpriced
The location had best view of lake and mountain and short walk to shops
Wi-Fi was a bit inconsistent
Great location, nice staff, great views of the lake and Mt Fuji.
Having to book breakfast the night before is a bit annoying, especially since the mixed up our room number.
The hotel is beautiful, staff was very kind and helpful- called 'romantic resort' which would be great place for this purpose but if you intend on doing much it is not ideal. Food service was wonderful, dinner was a good value, breakfast not so much.
Hotel offers bicycles but no children's, it is up high on a hill which gives an incredible view and is fine if you want to stay in the hotel but getting around not convenient and no stores nearby or choices for eating near the hotel.
View of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi are spetacular!
My bedding had an annoying smell - every night. It might be what the wash the sheets with our where they are stored, but the smell kept me awake at night. Also, we had a Japanese styled room with what should be a proper futon. This wasn't so. We've stayed in 3 other ryokans on this trip and none had bedding so thin. I was not comfortable in this hotel. We also had an extremely weak wifi signal in the room we were assigned. We complained and did get a better room, with a much better signal. It seemed to us that this hotel spent most of its money on its lobby area and little on guest rooms.
nice view from the hotel room, free shuttle service
nice view to Fuji Mount and brilliant open air hot spot
We had such a great time staying here. The front desk staff were very helpful, and accommodated our every need. The baths were also a lovely experience. Would definitely stay here again.
Very well located for a scenic view of the lake and Mt. Fuji
Meals was very good
It's location at top of hill
Great view, every morning saw mt. fuji in its full glory
The balcony view to the room was amazing. It's breath taking and unbelievable. The outdoor onsen was small but nice since I had the space to myself. The feeling of the cold crisp air was nice when I was submerged into the warm pool of water. It was perfect b/c mt. Fuji was clear as day. The next afternoon it was cover in haze and was barely visible.
Everything closes around the area too early, 5pm. We didn't have the option to walk around b/c the surrounding area seemed pretty secluded. The room also had a musky smell. But Other than that the stay was enjoyable. It would also be nice if the wifi would work in the restaurant as well.
