Poor stuff ,they requested me pay them in advance by PayPal. actually it is a very old house without any people.very cold in winter, creepy, dirty&small restroom, frozen bathroom. not good for stay in winter especially for girls.
1. the ambience. if you are interested in living in an traditional style house this is definitely the place. the architecture is gorgeous and the decorations are really worth seeing. It even smells ancient (mostly like green tea) which you get quickly adjusted to. 2. the location is fantastic and it is extremely quiet. there are many great shops nearby and a convenience store around the corner. it is close to the station which makes it a definate must-have if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing. the neighbor's are very kind and there is an amazingly delicious tofu shop that makes amazing tofu ice-cream (also a must try). 3. comfort. even though it does not have the common amenities (such as hotel services, toiletries, etc) it is extremely comfortable. we slept very, very well. 4. a great guide of the surrounding area was given--very helpful during our stay.
1. amenities. unless you can read Japanese, using some of the electronics in the house can be difficult. 2. although this is a given, if you are tall (which we are ^^;) you have to constantly watch out for ceilings--we hit our heads a few times.
We loved this Japanese style house in Kyoto. It's location is great, right behind the Kyoto train station. It was a very good way to start our vacation as we could experience the Japanese style of living. The house had a nice living room and we slept upstairs on the floor on typical futon beds. Near the corner there is a Family Mart so in the morning you can get fresh coffee and breakfast. We rented bicycles so we could easily visit all the nice places in the city. All with all a very nice place to stay!
Great to experience a "real" authentic Japanese house / home than the standard anomynous run of the mill hotel.
1. loved the experienced of a ryokan and single family home for my family. 2. loved the location, very convenient to the train station as family with a young grandchild. Also close to grocery stores and other shopping. 3. lots of room for 3 generations to stay in the same house together. 4. great to have a kitchen for simple breakfasts 5. good to have a washing machine 6. affordable for a family. 7. kitchen is well equipped, except for microwave oven (see dislike column)
1. should have warned there are no towels, soap or shampoo. Had to make shopping top priority, which is not what we wanted to do on a vacation. 2. the way the toilet is set up in a low ceiling room but on a platform. Difficult for both short and tall people to use. 3. microwave oven should be replaced to be more efficient.
Convenience location. Approximately 5 minutes walk to train / bus station.
Very small bath room. However, it is totally understood as it is a traditional Japanese house.
It was an experience to live in a genuine Japanese house for three nights. It was within easy walking distance of the station, a very convenient spot for exploring Kyoto. The area was quiet and safe and there was a convenience store close-by.
We had trouble finding the accommodation as the taxi driver abandoned us close-by, but we had to ask many local residents if they could direct us without success. Finally one chap was able to show us the house. It was extremely cold and took a good day to warm up, although once warm, we did enjoy the experience. The bathroom and toilet are outside, approachable under a lean-to, which was inconvenient and the kitchen was quite basic. The accommodation would be excellent in the summer months, cool and airy and can accommodation a big family. The property needed some attention to décor.
Gives a taste of a typical Japanese style home; with authentic furniture and fixture. It was a great experience for us and the apartment is close to Kyoto station.
Location, family mart around corner, bikes provided excellent, traditional home, neighbours friendly and helpful. Amenities such as shower and toilet good.
Convection oven good - but no instructions in English. Accessibility into house and up to second level difficult.
