The staff is so helpful and friendly. I had a fabulous stay. It is spotless and well organized for such a tiny space. Very cozy and comfortable.
Only one shower but there is a public bath very close to the hostel that is a great option.
Most friendly owners I have meet. They treated you like extended family members. Super helpful helpful with itinerary ideas too. Definitely would come back if return to Nikko.
see title. Staff was very courteous and helpful. They gave us maps and suggestions and helped us find our way around. It's right across the street from the train station, but I don't recall any issues with noise. Price was great and I didn't have any issues with bugs or dirty areas.
the parking cost extra and was about 2 blocks away in a gravel fenced lot with mopeds in the same spot. It wasn't a huge hindrance, but not ideal either.
It was a very great time we spend in Nikko! The owners were awsome and we had so much fun together. They provided a suprise party for other guests, that we joined and took us to the light festival of a neighbor village by car! They do everything to make you feel home! The house was great and the wood and Tatami ground smelled so good. I enjoyed every minute in that guest house.
time was to short! If knew before, how wonderful it is, I would have stayed longer! Thank you so much!
The location of the guest house is perfect. The staff are lovely, helpful and super friendly. Also you can leave the bag at the house after checkout. The bed and pillow are clean. Moreover the bathroom is very clean.
The stair to the 2nd floor is quite danger. The door of the room seems translucent, so the light from outside might disturb you if you sleeping on the 2nd floor of the bunk bed. Moreover, there are no air conditioner in the room. Even though they have electric fan in the room, but it will turn off after 1-2 hour of using.
Very friendly staff and lovely tiny guesthouse. Staff are happy to help traveller :) They take us to near Hot springs by a car! They organized a fireworks party at the night we stayed too! Rooms and bed were cozy and neat. Bath room was brand new :)
The staff was friendly, tried to bring the people together with games &gave us a ride to the temple area. They even offered to bring us to the onsen! Clean.
Although the idea of bringing people together with games is really nice, we weren't in the mood and no was not an answer...
- very friendly staff - they try to help you with anything During my stay I was invited to go to a local festival, very nice to see a different side of Japan
About 3 minutes from the train station, super friendly staff - the owner is very energetic and makes everyone feel at home! Also very clean, good wifi. Loved it!
The hosts speak English very well. Love the cozy atmosphere and friendly feeling at their guesthouse. Really enjoy my time at Nikko!!!
It's an old Japanese house converted to a guest house.
The location and very friendly and helpful guest house owners.
That there was only 1 bath/shower room and 1 toilet available. As a result, we were queuing to use the shower at 5.30 am!
Although the weather was terrible (it was raining all day&night), the accomodation was perfect! The owner was so kind, even we arrived a little bit late and next day we waited here for our train because of the rain, and also he took us to the temple with his car. The atmosphere was so familiar, everybody was so nice with us. The room was fully equipped, the bathroom too, and the guesthouse was about two minutes from the station, so we loved it. Thank you!!
Run by a lovely young couple Highly energetic!
Kindness of staff. Near station walk around 5mins.
Have only 1 bathroom no aircondition , noisy because too close btw the room but it s ok for group of friend .not suitable for family
Friendly and helpful staff Very nice atmoaphere Close to train Station
the staff location
We had nice conversations with the hosts, which gave us advice on where to go and which specialities to try.
Very kind owner and personnel. Clean and well situated.
Cars passing outside the building during the night.
Caring staff, nice people to meet. Location is good, right next to the train station, the walk to the main attractions takes about 20 minutes.
Very old house, you clearly hear what's going on in the other rooms or if someone is walking past your room door.
Super nice people! Very cosy place, not big but nice old house and nice atmosphere. Bed was comfy and everything clean. Owners have good info and recommendations. There's a nice onsen in the hotel right around the corner, too.
It's "far" from the temples but if you plan on buying the one day bus ticket anyway to go the the national park, than that doesn't matter so for me the location was perfect.
Very close to the Tobu station. Friendly staff and clean rooms.
It's definitely a hostel as opposed to a hotel. We stayed in one of the private rooms. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean, but it was still sharing a bathroom, etc. Also, definitely don't bring a big suitcase if you're staying in the private rooms, as it is up a steep staircase.
Staff were very friendly and helpful to recommend visits and excursions. Location was perfect very close to JR train station
Nikko is a small town with many restaurants closing early
Staff are very kind and lovely
