Location (looking out across the lake, very near to beautiful Kegon Falls), onsen (with sulphur for even better health results).
Property needs upgrading, and fast. Although nothing is broken, or dirty, it looks and feels tired all around.
- good location, bus stop is in front of hotel, easy to go too lake and kegon water fall by walking in less than 10 minutes - staff is great - room is rather big and has sofa - view from our room is lake view , so nice
- traffic jam on the way to the hotel it take time around one hour from Nikko station to the hotel in high season - bus might be fully loaded with tourist, please beware if you have big luggage - hotel food is rather expensive but delicious
Breakfast and dinner were good
Hotel prices did not match with condition of hotel
Meals were excellent.
A little noisy primarily from street.Seemed a bit expensive.
The location and the Staff.
The Superior Officer at the Reception Desk during our check out, although not in direct communication with us, is seemingly full of unnecessary gestures of snobbishness - even towards his own Staff - a definite 'taboo' in this hospitality industry and in our view as someone with over 25-years direct exposure to this industry, would be better off assigned to a more formal Business Hotel instead of a Resort like this beautiful Nikko Lakeside Hotel; each of the many Staff we came across gave strong impressions as being real assets to the business, while in contrast, that Superior Officer a liability to further progress.
Right next to Chuzenji lake. Friendly staffs. Spacious room and wide variety of breakfast. Walking distance from the famous waterfall.
It's too far from Nikko town. At least 40 mins on bus.
Beautiful location by the lake. And the hotel is so convenient, bus stop is in front of the hotel. Having your own private onsen was wonderful. One of the staff speaks really good English. Breakfast is good and has variety of choices.
The room is quite small. Facilities aren't up to 4 stars.
Excellent views, onsen and dinner.
The room shows it's age... 60's or 70's? The onsen could do with a renovation too.
the view, location, surroundings
rooms, bathrooms could be better maintained, buffet breakfast not as good as other hotels i've been to in other destinations with japan, such as hakone, sapporo, kyoto.
Great location. The hotel is situated directly between Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. The staff were friendly. The public onsen was great! Bathers were pretty sparse when i went in the late evening. I had a room facing Lake Chuzenji. the room is big and spacious with sofa and hot water dispenser. Breakfast is available in western and jap style to meet different dietery needs. The scrambled eggs were probably the best i've had. good.
Wifi is only available in the lobby area, no wifi in the rooms. I was given my breakfast coupon upon check in and was informed that i have no dinner. I had assumed that my booking did not come with complimentary dinner. Shops in the area included restaurants, were all closed when i check them out about 5pm! When i returned to the hotel for dinner i was told that dinner is only available with prior booking. No al la carte ordering is available. The hotel staff, couldnt help and i went to bed hungry.
Food qualityes & tastes of both dinner & breakfast are not good enough.Being a 4-star hotel, they should put more effort on food standard.
Hotel has an onsen. Had a good experience especially during good weather.
The free wifi is only available at the lobby. There are only a few channels of TV programmes. The hotel should consider providing free wifi to all rooms n increase the number of TV programmes.
should have been renovated a bit for more attractive room atmosphere
Location right by Lake Chuzenji
Very peculiar metal doors to room Very expensive and not particularly good evening meal
Great location on Lake Chuzenji and only a short walk to Kegon Falls. Great view from the room's window. Price is on upscale side. Really helpful staff :) Excellent breakfast!
The hotel only serve French food for dinner. It's not bad but there was no option for those who want to experience great local dishes!
The location is good, I could see the lake and the mountain from my wide window. The dinner was also nice, many choices for wine. There are two rooms for private onsen, it costs 2000 Yen for 45 minutes. You just inform the prefer time at the front desk. My husband and I stayed here happily and comfortable.
Unfortunately I have came down for breakfast the same time with a group tour from China, so there was very busy. However, the staff had done the great job in preparing the buffet, the line was not long then.
location, french style dinner, good service, close to bus station
Location and onsen
meals are not worth the money spent. Everything in the hotel are dated and this is way overpriced!!!!!!!!!!!!
The views from the room were outstanding
The furniture was a bit dated & there are no true Non-Smoking rooms available
Easy to have a beauty trip around Chusenji lake kegon fall etc.
1.The hotel location was excellent. 2. The hot water spring was also excellent.
Beautiful and convenient location near the lake and bus stop. Spacious rooms. Reasonably priced dinner and very extensive buffet type breakfast. Hot spring facilities in the garden shed. Suitable for families or groups. Less suitable for the solo traveler.
Confusing and lengthy check-in procedure. My room was not well isolated, and felt rather old. Had problems to sleep due to noisy neighbours. No WiFi or computer network in the room. No dinner possibility in the neighbourhood.
Location. You can observe Lake Chuzenji's amazing sunset with only a few steps from the hotel. Public Onsen was really nice. You can experience typical Japanese hot spring bath atmosphere.
Opening hours of the restaurant and the bar are limited. That makes the food service too fast. The bar is not open in the evening on working days , even on Friday. You won't have any chance to have a shot of whisky after your dinner at the bar except on Saturday. Unlikely Japanese hotels on this class, the male employees at the reception and the restaurant never smiled. How comes?
It was like being in a spa hotel in the 20,s, , expected inspector poirot any minute.Elegant, gentle on the mind, stunning location and informal.staff helpful and pleasant, food choice limited but excellently thought out menus and tasty.
