staff so nice.
pillow is a little strong
Ideas board for things to do, other like minded travellers in the foyer to meet.
Not really close to ueno station, with luggage, you would want to catch a taxi. You cannot change the temp for the room air con, just low med or high it's a set temp.
Front desk service is superb. Stayed in 5 hotels during my visit in Japan and this is the best front desk service where they speak fluent English and able to answer most of our queries. They happened to have birthday party during my stay and feel just like home. Location is good where only one station away from Ueno Station via Ginza Line.
The bathroom is a little rundown and small for an average asian like me.
I really like the staff, they speak english! The location was really good, near to the Inaricho station and also the JR line Ueno.
the bed was not really comfortable and during the night some guests slammed doors.
Great location, very helpful staff , Simple , clean rooms. Will definetly stay here again when we returnbto Tokyo
- Near Irinacho station(Ginza line) - Free Wifi is good signal - Helpful staff
I loved the choice of having a washiki room, very homey! Absolutely amazing value for the price.
location, bed, friendly staff.
much better value for money hotels are nearby and closer to Ueno station. Communal facilities very shabby. Overall quite tired looking.
Friendly staff that speaks English and they really want to help you get to where you want to go. Good value for the money. Convenient location to many things, including the subway and train station.
Rooms are not very nice. My room had only a frosted window, very cramped, poor lighting. Décor was not very impressive. Did not feel like a Japanese hotel for sure.
Only 2 mins walk from Inaricho subway station and there are plenty of convenience stores and eateries near to the hotel.
Super early checkout time at 10.00am.
front desk staff speaks english and were very helpful, there are PCs you can use to go online, near inaricho subway/jr ueno/keisei ueno station, there are also several convenience stores around
poor wifi signal in our room, t&b is quite small though still acceptable
We booked 2 rooms, one with bunk bed and another is twin room. We were happy with both. The staff are great, they really made us feel welcoming. My hubby who travel to Japan often, is surprised that the room size is bigger than others higher price hotel.
The staff are friendly. The room although small, but well equiped - hair dryer, tooth brushes etc. The hotel is very near to both subway and train, so very convienient to travel around Tokyo.
Position of the hotel (15 min walking distance from Ueno JR station) was great, staff is speaking english very well
Room was very very small, not so meany comforts, I would not recommend this hotel to elder people
The staff were excellent - Very friendly and helpful, with great English. The location was great and there was free wifi.
Very small room, which is expected for Tokyo, however something to be aware of if this bothers you. The bathroom was very small and awkward, however clean and had everything you need. The biggest downside was the bed - We stayed in a Western double and the bed was as hard as a rock. Again, something to expect from Japan, however we found the bed to be especially uncomfortable at Oak Hotel.
Good location, between Ueno station and Asakusa. Subway at 2 minutes. Lugguage storage. Staff really really nice. I've been there many times.
Rooms are a small but ok for the price.
Friendly staff, near subway, clean room.
Room is a bit small.
Tea making in room Location Staff Laundry Clean
Japanese type bed
Close To The Park And Convenient Stores. Great Location And Friendly Staff. Laudry Facilities Available.
Good hospitality. Staff are fluent in English and very helpful. The room is clean with comfortable bed, old school style of Yukata, free hot green tea and WIFI. 2 mins walk from Inaricho subway stn and near a mini mart.
Comfortable room / nice staff / good hotel for backpacker.
The staff very helpful and friendly. They gave us interesting info around the neighborhood. At the time we arrived in the morning, they recommended us an Udon kiosk across their hotel which has great taste (may contain pork meat). And when raining day they offer us umbrellas to be borrowed. They have vending machine too for quick refreshment. The aircon in our room works good, bathroom has hot water, great water pressure. They make up our room, changing towels and yukatas everyday. We had good sleep, not sure whether the hotel have good isolation or quiet neighborhood. The hotel is very near to Inaricho Station (Tokyo Metro Subway)-- just 3 mins walk and Ueno Station--10 mins walk. It's also near to convenient stores (Lawson and FamilyMart), ricebowl and fastfood restaurants (Sukiya, Yoshinoya, McD)
Our room and bathroom are quite small. We had quite big luggage, so when we opened it, only few space remaining to move around the room. The bed size is enough for both of us, since we are Asian (approx. 150 - 180). Bed and the rice-like-filled pillow are little bit firm but it's ok for us. They have many WiFi connection but sometimes didn't work. I thought late night and early morning is the best time for use theirs. But it's didn't concern us too much since we had rent WiFi mobile device. Overall I'll recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to travelling Tokyo in budget. Tip: for peace in mind, I'll suggest to use Google maps in street view mode to find this hotel actual location, though this hotel is easy to find.
very friendly and helpful staff, good location with interesting neighbourhood (senso-ji temple, kitchen town) to explore tokyo (next metro station 200 m away, ueno station 15 min walk), easy access from/ to both airports in tokyo, japanese style rooms have more sleeping comfort, little kitchen with cooking utensils and coin operated washing machine (ok) with free washing powder and dryer (a bit weak), little library with left behind books, 3 pc for guests in lobby, free wifi in all rooms, free umbrellas in case of rainy weather, staff is sometimes throwing a party for all guests with free drinks and food (excellent ice breaker between hotel guests), daily cleaning of rooms and fresh yukata, TV, water cooker and free green tea, more of a nice backpacker athmosphere than a sterile hotel
small rooms and limited space for luggage (it is anyway recommended to travel light in japan!), no storage place for clothes, most of the rooms are quite dark and have limited day light. beds in western style rooms are quite hard (I prefer japanese style rooms). some bathrooms have spots of black fungus along the curtain rails and in corners which can easily be removed/ killed with alcohol (hand rubbing solution), weak coin operated dryer should be exchanged, guests who are sensitive with noise should not accept a room in the lobby floor (= first floor) because some guests are not respecting sleeping guests after 11:00 pm and before 7:00 am
Really knowledgeable staff, they've prepared a lot of information sheets.
I slept on the ground floor and the noise travels easily from the kitchen. The staff ask that people are quiet after 11am but if you wanted an early night you could request staying upstairs.
