Recommended by the Michelin Guide, the Hotel MyStays Kyoto-Shijo is centrally located in Kyoto and is a 6-minute walk from Shijo subway station.

The beds where awesome, if i could give a higher rating for bed comfort i would.
I was glad to get a room because most hotels were fully booked. Location was a bit of a hike from Shijo station, but the weather was fine so it was no problem to walk.
WiFi was not secure network.
Near to subway station, convenience store andshopping areas
Good location~~~ The front desk very nice!!
Very nice hotel, 5 mins walk from Shijo station. Plenty of buses right outside the hotel, going every where in the city. Close to downtown, clean and cozy. Room was small but that's what you get in Japan. Double bed was unfortunately too small for 2 people, so i suggest getting 2 Twin beds instead. Breakfast was all japanese style and absolutely delicious! Will surely book it again next time i'll hit Kyoto.
Double bed was too small for 2 people.
Great to have room for two adults and two teenagers! Facilities great, shower fantastic!!!
On one busy night we couldn't use wifi as too slow
close to bus route and the underground subway - short 2 stop to main station of kyoto
The location is OK, not far from shopping mall and metro. But if you carry several suitcases, then it's not that convenient.
The room was too small referring the price, but it may due to our visiting time.
Location was close everything, especially 3mins walk to the subway. Staff were helpful and polite. Some of the staffs speak very good English.
The room was the smallest among all the hotels we stayed during our travelling in Kansai area. However it's very clean and tidy.
Great value for money
Good location, near metro stations, restaurants nearby, one familymart besides
Non-smoking rooms not available
Good location and great room
The staff didn't smile even though it was the smile hotel
The hotel was really easy to find, it's right on the street and impossible to miss just head down Shijo street from Karasuma JR station et voila. The breakfast buffet was really great, big selection and very good quality. The room had everything I needed and more, and the service offered was excellent. Their English ability is pretty much limited to check in and check out so be prepared to test your Japanese skills.
I only have one negative remark, namely the smoking. They allow smoking here (same as many places still in Japan) which means you need to be attentive when making your booking or you may end up in a room where people have been smoking.
Location to main centre, convenience stores and relatively close to public transport is very accessible. Free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast is reasonable.
The bed was a bit hard, and the rooms are quite small and low ceilings. Its a no frills hotel, so no added extras, and wi-fi wasn't always reliable and hard to be reset a couple of times.
Great service, nice room even though quite small. Wifi is fast and elevator service is good.
Quite far from train station but there is bus stop nearby.
The room, services, staff, location. Couldn't fault ant of it. Fully recommend!
No complaints at all!
We had a great time at Smile Hotel Kyoto! We found it very fast and the bus connection to all the temples and shrines is very good! You have a supermarket and a conbini super close to that hotel and of course sanjo/shijo/gion (good for shopping) are also very close. The breakfast was really nice and you could choose between japanese and western style. The hotel and the rooms were very clean. The rooms were quite small but that's actually big enough as we stayed outside for the whole day!
It was loud, eventhough our room was in the 9th floor. We think that is was the aircon, probably.
The reception at Smile hotel is, maybe, the only place in Japan where people do not smile. Anyway, the staff may had just had a bad day.
Close to main street (5 minutes) Close to subway (5minutes)
We booked a smoking room even though we didn't smoke, it was tough but we got through it.
The location is very convenient: Near the crossing of the city's two subway lines, three stops from the railway station and in Mid Downtown.
The emergency staircase was jammed with detergent bottles, brooms, buckets, matresses and even spare beds - from the 12th floor down to the 1st!! And there were not many smiles on the lips of the crew - despite the name...
Price Personnel not verr friendly. Not japanese standard
- Location is very good, very convenient to take the bus or subway; - Supermarket Fresco is cross the street
- Most of the time, the WIFI connection was weak
