Wifi did not reach properly my room
Good position, clean room, friendly staff, good price
it is 15 minutes to the closest metro station but in kyoto you will use the bus so that really does not matter. You have a bus stop just in front of the building. Great room, perfect price awesome location the hotel is located on a very busy street (there is no noise form the street). Perfect hotel would definitely stay here again.
-the location in the center of Kyoto is amazing! -everything is really clean, all look new. -there are very big beds
- The breakfast is only salty and it is a japanese style
Great breakfast Good showers and bathroom. Really close to the main street of shopping and restaurants
Was quite dusty in my room. Bothered my sinuses.
Really nice hotel, close to underground station, coffee shop, family mart, cigarette shop all close by. you are right in the center, just a short walk to many amazing places.
thought i booked a smoking room, but it was non-smoking.
I really liked the hotel rooms (clean, confortable, large...), and the location of the hotel, just in the middle of one of the main city centre streets, with easy access to the main city attractions, either by subway, bus or simply on foot. We couldn't ask for more.
I stayed for 3 nights at Smile Hotel during the Gion Matsuri period. The hotel's location was very convenient to see the matsuri and close to every major place in Kyoto, easy access to subway and bus. The hotel was very clean and safe from city noise. I had comfortable nights there. If I goto Kyoto again, definitely I will stay there again.
I thought this was a budget hotel but it had all the amenities of a luxury hotel. The staff were very helpful and had great advice and a good handle of the city transportation system.
Very near to teh underground station.
WIFI was available at the rooms. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
no English signage to recognize the hotel.
I believe that room has been renovated as the walls, furniture and TV look new. Although the wall outside was under renovation at the time of my stay, there was no disturbance at all! A very convenient location - easy to travel to many scenic spots and there are restaurants nearby and convenience stores too.
Too few TV channels.
Clean, tidy and cozy room for a reasonable price. The location is good, near the biggest shopping center of Shijo.
bed on the wall
Good location, very close to the bus stop.
There were some renovation works, between 10 a.m. (sometimes starting even earlier) till 5 p.m., which made the hotel very noisy and it was not possible to stay and relax inside during these hours. The maintanance was scheduled for few months (March till end of June?), but we were not informed about it before arrival. Moreover we didn't get any compensation for it or even heard the word "sorry" from the staff. Hotel was hard to find due to the outside maintenance and no signs. Staff was not flexible with the late check in time (3 p.m.), we arrived one hour earlier and had to wait, additionally big group of children guests made the hotel extra noisy in the evenings...
Close to plenty of food choices, transport (subway, buses and push bikes), sightseeing. Reception staff were helpful.
Breakfast staff had no idea about timing of menu delivery, all food and drink was delivered at the same time with food going cold whilst you ate. Cereals were provided, but on all occasions no milk was provided. Hotel was hard to find due to outside maintenance and no signage.
The staff speaks reasonable English and are relatively friendly.
The hotel is under renovation. There is no English signage anywhere in sight. Took us almost 30 minutes to locate the hotel by stopping the locals to ask for direction. Even when we were pointed at the right direction, we didn't know we were standing right in front of the hotel. I had to go in to ask the staff to confirm that I was in the right hotel.
The WiFi connection was immediate and no password needed. The location on Shijo Street was central. My room was upgraded to a double. Kept very clean. There was an alarm clock provided that was easily set.
The shower head was at the end of a hose and couldn't be properly attached to the wall. Incidentally, I was given a notice that the outer wall was being worked on through July 2014; blinds to be kept closed.
Great and Great location for touring Kyoto city. Arashiyama(40min), Nijyo jo(30min), Fushimiinari(45min), Kiyomizudera(30min) most of traditional tourist attraction is located within an hour by public transportaion
not so many place for dining, recommended to visit Gawaramachi for drinking and dining :)
After the welcome, the staff became more friendly and helpful :-) Recommended a shuttle taxi service to get to the airport, which was great. Buffet breakfast was simple but tasty. WiFi good.
The first welcome was not very welcoming. No smiles.
The air conditioner was not usable hotel wide as apparrently it was cooler weather so they didn't think residents should use them. The lady at the reception was very rude which is uncharachtertistic of what you'd find in Japanese people.
Amazing position for tourists who wish to find places themselves and the staff were amazingly helpful about everything. They were great at ensuring we knew how to get wherever. Being able to purchase day bus pass at the front dest with directions about the best numbers to catch was a real advantage. The room was very comfortable and clean.
The sleepwear was too small for westerners.
This is a gem in kyoto, its so convenience that many buses passes by our hotel. And the bus stop in front brings you to just almost all the popular temples and shrines. We love this hotel, we are lucky to have booked a double room. The space is a bit small, like no walking space after your luggage are spread wide, but its just like any other hotels. We also had a tea table and a sofa in our room, we didn't expect this. Its really useful. The price is just reasonable compare to any other hotels in kyoto. Its so low for its perfect location. Bravo. I will be back if i had a chance to visit kyoto again.
