Riverside Takase  

Excellent location, 10 minute walk from Kyoto station and Gion district. Basic but spacious clean tatimi mat room. Shared facilities more then enough for small number of rooms. Small kitchen area with microwave, fridge, hob, table and coin operated washing machine and tumble drier. Bicycle hire at very good price just around the corner - the owner will direct you.

The walls of the rooms are a bit thin and noise travels easily.

It was within a walking distance from a Central train station.

The owner is rather a cash collector than a friendly staff, that will help you when needed. There was quite cold and the heater did not work. You need to pay extra if you want to watch TV or use Wi-Fi (it is only 100 Yen, but still it is not a standard to which we got used to). I think you can find better places within this price range

The map given by booking.com is very confusing, hard to find the location. It actually convenient by using bus no. 4, 17 & 205. A bit far from MRT station.

Nearby no food stall or restaurant.

Great location, very comfortable futons and pillows (much more comfortable than other more expensive places we stayed), great facilities (kitchen, bath etc), fast internet connection, helpful books and brochures on Kyoto.

We really enjoyed staying at Riverside Takase. The only problem was when we caught a taxi it was hard to explain where it was, so we got out at Gojo dori and walked. Perhaps a map or card with instructions in Japanese for guests to show to taxi drivers?

Riverside Takase was a lovely Ryokan that was extremely budget friendly. We found the staff pleasant and unobtrusive, and it had the feel of classic Kyoto without the tourist trappings. Nicely situated between the railway station and the hills fir easy walking access. Highly recommended.

This ryokan is very clean, comfortable, with superb facilities. Worth the money I spent for 3 nights there. Feels like staying at someone's house. They have kitchen with a stove, a fridge, a washer (200yen) and a dryer (100yen). 2 toilets, 1 bathroom, and a large sharing sink with a large mirror. There a pc with fast internet connection. The room has a TV, which you can only watch when you pay 100 yen per 2 hours I think. Every channel is in Japanese. The twin room is super large. On the day my wife and I arrived Kyoto, we just walk from Kyoto station to here. It only took about 10 to 15 minutes. Just use the map and get ready to ask someone if you are not sure the location. Even if the Japanese can't speak English, they try very hard to help you with their body language. Just think like the TV show Win, Lose or Draw. From Kyoto Station just go and find Takase River ((高瀬川, Takase-gawa). Cross the small bridge of Takase river and take the small alley on the left side of the bridge. Walk straight until you find it. The river will be on your left-side and the ryokan will be on your right. If you are able to walk everywhere, from here you can walk straight to Gion area. Go out of the ryokan, go left, walk straight along the Takase river. When you reach the city, use the map, you'll find Gion area. You can also walk to Kiyomizu temple, Sanjō Ōhashi bridge (三条大橋), Maruyama Park etc, if your legs are strong enough. We done that. Or use subway or city bus 1-day pass for 500yen, or rent a bicycle 700yen per day. The owner living next door, you can intercom or call her if you need anything. I don't know why people are complaining about this ryokan and the owner. If you are a spoil brat traveler, don't stay at this lovely ryokan.

I have nothing negative about this hotel.

Unfriendly stuff (owner?), TV and internet complimentary, for TV you need to insert coins (that's a joke), bathroom and kitchen oldfashioned, hair in the bed, bed sheets with holes

It was easy to find: location is great - only 10 minutes from Kyoto station. Big rooms with conditioner and TV. There is Internet connection (one PC and wifi).

Good audibility of other rooms, but there are only 5 rooms, so it's not so loud.

Big nice room, very comfort bed and pillow. Hot shower.

The owner was so rude, nothing like the rest of japanesse people we met. She seemed to be upset for having guests.

Not easy to find it.... But if you ask you could find someone who could help you!!!

The room which is triple room is spacious. The room is clean and properly maintained. The owner provides small kitchen area with washing machine and dryer which is very convenient for us as a family. We definitely would not bring so many clothes if we know the place has those facilities. The hostel is facing a canal where the water is clean and flowing slowly, good for scenic view.

Considerate, helpful management. Right next to the Takase-gawa (a canal-like river running south) which is great to walk along, and only a block from the much larger Kamo River. Within a block three bus lines connect south to the main Kyoto train station in about 5 minutes, or alternately to major tourist destinations north. About a block from a little-visited gem of a walled public garden. This neighbourhood was very quiet, within easy reach of major transport hubs and between two watercourses -- very safe for walking at nght.

Really nothing -- it's a ryokan, so the kitchen, bathroom and toilets are shared, and have hours of use to reduce noise. Having said that, unlike some ryokan there is no curfew so as long as your considerate you can come and go as you please. The tatami rooms are fine, well-cared for and with air and light (my room faced the Takase-gawa).

The hotel location is good - 3 bus stops from Kyoto Station and is 2 min walk from at least two bus stops. The 3-person room we stayed in is large - by Japanese standard. It has a kitchen, washer and dryer. Six rooms shares two toilets and a shower. Running. The shower is large. The price is good, and you can experience Japanese living style - tatami, narrow hallway, steep and narrow stairs, low ceilings, small rooms, no shoes in the house, etc.

The kitchen does not have microwave oven, which is very useful if you want to buy lunch box from stores. The dryer is in the kitchen and there is no vent to the outside. So it is very warm when the dryer is running. The shower room is large but the vent fan is not working - it is very humid when it is in use. The vent fan in shower is not working - it is VERY humid when it is in use. You have to bring your own shampoo and body wash. The owner is not very friendly, at least by American standard.

The hotel is located next to a small river, not to far from the main station. It's a nice location.

Nous avions réservé une chambre pour trois personne, la place était suffisante, et nous avons apprécier de dormir sur des futons à la japonnaise! L'endroit ne paye pas de mine surtout lorsqu'on arrive de nuit dans cette petit rue mais le ruisseau au pied de l'hotel est très mignon de plein jour et la situation pas trop loin de la gare est très bien

Nous n'avons que très peu vu les patron mais ce n'est pas réellement genant en soit!

位置難找，但物有所值

各方面来说都是还好，这个价格的话算物美价廉了吧，附近有个泡汤的，还有家能吃饭的，除此之外别的就没有了- 。离公交站五分钟路程的样子。里面住的都是外国人的感觉。

安靜的環境！夜晚睡眠品質不錯！

Solo me gusto la ubicacion. Just the location

La atencion es mala, la administradora solo se acerco para cobrar el alojamiento. Se pago la habitacion y se suponia que en el precio se incluia la tv que estaba en el cuarto pero cobran aparte para mirar tv
