Good location, excellent value, friendly staff, traditional Japanese ryokan experience.
- Rooms have air con. - Close to Hiroshima station.
- Place is old and looks dated. Power socket was ready to fall out of the wall. The door would rubbed against the frame when opening and closing making a lot of noise. - Futon and blanket were too small for me. Futon was very thin and there's no second blanket available. The room does have a single unit air con/heater though. - Bathroom was covered with mould. - The 11 PM "curfew" was concerning. You must leave your room key at the desk so that the staff know not to lock the side-entry door after 11 PM. Your key is left on the reception counter where anyone can pick it up. - There were many young Japanese men staying in other rooms and partying until 1 AM. - The staff were friendly but spoke so quietly, I often couldn't catch what was being said despite knowing Japanese. Overall, a very disappointing experience. This would be fine for someone who doesn't intend to be at the hotel much but you can easily find much better for much less.
The room was fantastic. Japanese style just like you would expect.
Showers in the ground floor.
Close to the central station in Kyoto.
I would not recommend staying here during winter. I had double sweaters on and it was still freezing! If you can afford it, stay in a proper hotel or a better ryokan.
Traditional ambience, close to train station
Old furniture, staff cannot speak English
Our room was clean and comfortable. There were shared bathrooms and shower, but our room had its own sink and mirror too. The listing says "free wired internet access is available in the lobby," but there was actually perfectly good wifi in our room. There was also a coin operated washer and dryer on the main floor.
The toilet seats (at least in the women's) had some thin, soft, fabric sticker things on them. Everything else was perfectly clean and normal, but I was a little grossed out by the idea of fabric on a toilet sticker things. No other complaints.
I like the hospitality of the uncle in the receptionist. I think he is the owner. Even he speak english so hardly, I still feel he is very warm guy.
Large room, old Japanese style accommodation, basic but clean, good location
Looked like on a quiet road but we had roadside room and traffic was very loud.
Location and value.
Can get quite cold in the room.
Not many good ryokans would accept children under 12 to stay but this one did! Convenient location which is so close to kyoto station and very nice and quite neighborhood. huge room for 3 of us and very good heating. we loved it!
owner was not very talkative which was actually not bother us at all.
easily accessible from Kyoto station, spacious room with good shower cubicle in room. Clean and quiet environment make our stay very pleasant.
a few mins walk from the train station. quiet neighborhood
the room stunk a bit. TV is not free. no free water.
Great wi-fi, comfortable futon bed, location not far from Kyoto station with easy access bus to many places, value for money especially during peak period when compare to other places
Luggage left in unlock room without any attendance, access to toilet outside the room, no hair dryer, noise from room above when they walk
Very close to train station
Almost broken door lock
Excellent location, just a short walk from Kyoto station. Large rooms, shower in room. Toilets are outside and shared, though.
Closes front door at 10pm without key. You'll have to request the owner to open the door for you to get water from the vending machine. Hard pillows.
- Within 10 min walk to Kyoto station - Room size is quite big with a sink - Clean and comfortable
- Only one shower rooms available.
Room size is large
The place is just a short walk (7 min) from the main station
I think i heard a mouse running in the ceiling on the first night and I removed a cockroach from the room of our neighbors on the second night
Very good location, close to JR train station and several main bus lines. Typical and traditional Japanese Ryokan style Staff are kind and helpful
Due to the old architecture style, voice from another room cannot be avoided... Communication with English is quite difficult..
The location is ok. You can walk from JR station by 15 minutes. You should know what the building look like otherwise you cannot see it even if it is located near the intersection.
I booked for the non-smoking but I got the smoking room
Close to Kyoto station and bus hub Being in a japanese style room for the first time in my life
Probably not the best ryokan in Kyoto but everything was already booked out Quite old and gloomy Staff mostly absent Shower/Toilet to share
Its a Japanese house so you hear everything. The walls are paper or plywood. I don't mind but it's not a place for the noise sensitive.
Location is good
There are snails, cockroaches and mosquitoes in the room!
very well located with a maximum 15 mins walk to Kyoto station
inside room was unventilated, futon bed and tatami floor were old.
We had a big room.
For Kyoto we allowed us a costly hotel. Unfortunately it was much to expensive for what it actualy is. Not even tissues were in the room as it is common. Its on old fashioned japanese house, so you can hear the other guest walking, talking, ... Its a little bit like a hostel for 40+. Our stay wasn't very pleasantly. We expected more.
