Clean and quiet place
It was a fun old building with lots of twists and turns and interesting spaces．Staff were very friendly．
Not very much parking．
The friendly staff and value for money. A 12 min walk from Matsumoto Station, but offers a more peaceful environment than the city centre.
The family don't speak very much English but they are so warm and accomodating. The back room on the top floor had 3 windows which was so nice to have lots of fresh air and natural light and it is quite for resting.
We took note of what other travellers said about it being difficiult to find and we took a taxi. Best 800 Yen I spent in Japan. Once you get orientated it is a fairly quick walk to train station and the shopping centre.
Very good value ryokan especially for a solo traveler. Run by a nice family. Small communication issues but that's on me as I don't speak more than 5 words of Japanese. Good WiFi, great AC, lots of green tea.
I was under the impression that there was a traditional Japanese bath but there is only a conventional bathtub. Bath/shower room only open 17:00-9:00. ~15 minute walk to Matsumoto train station and another 15 from there to the castle. Nothing in the neighborhood except the ubiquitous 7-11. Beware there is an adjacent, unadvertised annex bldg. and I'm not sure if there are shower/bathing facilities in it.
The onsen is to die for. The entire First floor is dedicated to bathing, Superb.
- walking distance from trainstation - nice big tatami room - very comfortable futon, clean and soft - brand new tatami floors
- the water in the bathroom had some rust in it
the rooms are really traditional and good for relaxing :-) really friendly staff
Value for money. Decent sized room. Good aircon.
Constant musty smell in the room.
Fair service and parking availability.
The room did not smell very nice.
Great traditional ryokan. Staff very friendly. 15 mins walks from matsumoto station.
Very nice persons!
Good prices. Interesting location. Japanese style hotel. Friendly Staff. A good deal in Matsumoto.
The staff are so nice and it was a lovely place to stay. Stayed in several ryokans and this was one if the best.
It initially was a bit hard to find
Good Service, Better room
Far for Train Station, Walk about 15 min
Very nice place to stay, good price, ok location
Rooms were great, haven't managed to find another ryokan for the same price in Japan yet. Bathrooms and bedroom are perfectly clean. Nice quiet area and a good distance from town once you find your bearings! Would recommend.
NO DIRECTIONS! It is a ten minute walk from the station but we walked for about an hour and then eventually got a taxi because we were so lost we could not make any contact with the ryokan before arriving. There was wifi but only in the lobby. Staff could speak as much English as we could Japanese (nothing) so communication was difficult. Thankfully we had no complications to talk to them about.
It was our ffirst Ryokan on our way, but I think it was the best we had for that money. Greathost family although they didnt speak english, but they are really friendly. I could pay also with Visa. We liked it.
Beautiful hospitality, lovely rooms, great atmosphere, everything in walking distance. My favourite accommodation in Japan.
Nothing I didn't like, everything was great!
It is quiet.
The ryokan is considered far to the first timer as he do not know the place well and to walk more than 15mins from the JR Matsumoto station.
wonderful beautiful traditional rooms large bath that can be used individually or as a family
odd part of town, a bit "off" Staff don't speak english
Really comfortable with a nice staff.
A bit far from the centre of the city.
In walking distance to the train station. We stayed in the annex building in a large japanese-style room with balcony. The public bath can be reserved for some privacy and is very nice. Very helpful staff, even though they speak limited English.
We loved this place. Large 4 bed traditional room, onsen that you can use just as a family and you really are just 10 minute walk away from town (once you know where it is). Recommend taxi (approx.650 yen) to get here the first time. Lovely family run business, limited English but this causes no problems.
Nothing I didn't like.
No breakfast available. No ensuite bathroom. But we knew about both of the above in advance so not really a problem. A little far out from the centre and was a little noisy at night as our room was next to the main stairs and the bathroom.
