The place is so quiet and peaceful..
Far from the town proper.
This place is on good location near hida folk village and other there's a great seafood restaurant That you must try. we came in a group of five person we Stayed in one room,.. it's great
I like everything
Able to communicate with the staff in English
Ryokan provides free shuttle in the morning to the Takayama station which was very convenient!
The manager/ owner is the nicest man in Japan. The food was very good. The Rooms are very comfortable. And I loved the baths. They have a family Bath as well as women's and men's. Only a 5 minute walk from the Hida folk village which is a collection of conserved traditional houses that have been relocated from nearby areas to here.
It's not very close to town - about a 30 minute walk.
The staff was absolutely helpful in spite of their limitations in English. The hot bath was alright. The ryokan itself was rather genuine.
The futons were extremely thin, so nights were anything but comfortable. Bus timetables makes the ryokan quite unaccessible before 9 and after 16, which severely limited our options to have a downtown dinner or to take an early train. Moreover, meals were not included and they are not specially cheap (bearing in mind that you have little other options).
- Free pick up - Nice people - Family private bath - No problem with English - Clean
Overall really good experience but one point about location: Really close to Hida folk Village but if you want to go to the train station or the old street, you need to take the bus or shuttle.
It is very rare to find a Japanese style hotel (Ryokan) with such a reasonable price. The first pleasant thing that I encountered was hospitable and friendly staffs who are ready to help. The staff at the reception could communicate in English. The hotel also offers and provides a free ride to the station although I personally did not use it.
It is a little bit far from the train station, it takes around 20 minutes walking. It may be a little bit difficult to find the place, although I had no problem with map and GPS on my phone.
The owner was so helpful and came and picked me up at the train station. The ryokan is a little away from the main town, but is is in a very peaceful, artistic area, very near Hida Village, which is beautiful to visit. I had a very relaxing stay and had the onsen all to myself!
For a reasonable price, this ryokan gave me a wonderful peaceful night in Takayama. The room was incredibly comfortable with nice futon and even japanese tea. The common bath in the ryokan is essential but very nice. You can have breakfast and dinner but, for personal reasons, i could not try them. Difficult to go back to my current accommodation after trying it!
Everything was great. A clean comfortable large room with a view. Friendly staff. Good food. Reasonable price.
The location. It is a good 20-30 minutes walk from the station and not too easy to find in darkness at the first time, although it's quiet and has a nice view. You want to eat dinner in at the inn unless you eat dinner in town before coming home to Onsen and to sleep.
Greatly located at quiet mountainside near folk village which is a must-go if u go takayama. It is beautiful in winter especially so this year(2014). Winter came early. Arrived takayama station, called ryokan and shuttle bus came 5 mins later. Greeted by friendly Murayama-San. We took a family room with private bathroom, room was spacious, view was excellent. We stayed 3 nights and had two dinners there. Set dinner ranging between ¥2650-¥3250 was great and delicious. The Shabu shabu(grilled plus steamboat) was excellent. Hida beef were of high quality. Cost ¥6300 per pax but it's all worth it. Although some may say this ryokan is far from station. It is far if you walk, taxi from station is ¥900 city bus is ¥200 per pax and shuttle bus from ryokan is free at certain timing.
Very comfortable room with good bathroom and toilet facilities
A bit far from city.
Mr Murayama picked us up from the station within 10 minutes. We then went out to have the melt-in-the-mouth Hida beef, we ordered the premium 5th grade and it was so good that we went back again. It was worth the price. We took a room without bath but it has a toilet. The stay was very nice and enjoyable. Love the private onsen.
A bit far and it is about 30 minutes walk from the station. Taxi costs about ¥1000 for a short distance.
Near bus stop sarubobo S5. Can walk to hida no sato
There's no shops and restorants nearby, and you have to order dinner before arriving. As I haven't ordered, it seemed that the only way was to walk back to the town. But after I asked the host they cooked dinner for me. Ryokan is close to Hida no Sato, but it takes about 30 minutes to get to the station. Thankfully, the host took me to Takayama by bus at 10-00.
The price, rooms were comfortable enough, onsen was nice also
Great location. Far enough from village to be in mountain atmosphere but close enough to walk. Friendly staff.
There is free shuttle bus that will come 10 mins after you make a call once you arrive at Takayama station. The room is clean and the futon is so comfortable that will guarantee you a good night sleep. The dinner set is value for money, we paid ¥2,620 for dinner that consists of hida beef, soba, rice, and tempura. Best of all, a nice and clean onsen to wrap up your day.
Location is rather far from the city centre (30 mins by foot, bus is not operating after 5pm in autumn). Hence, it is rather difficult to find dinner places.
the private bath for family ! the location for us beaucause it is outside town and there is a free park. We had a car. The owner speak english. It's very useful. And you are near Hida no sato. Takayama is a good place to discover this part of honshu.
The rooms were very big and very good value for money. It was only a 10 min walk from Hida no Sato the folk village. Also the Ryokan offered a free shuttle bus into town.
The communal bath was a little dated.
Clean and charming old architecture. Owner speaks reasonable English and give good advice. Surrounding is quiet and peaceful.
Location is out of main town. We drove and that helps to keep it convenient as main town is short 5 mins direct drive away.
Our family of 5 stayed at Ryokan Murayama during the Takayama autumn festival. The ryokan is owned by Murayama-san and his wife and they are the most accommodating hosts possible. We arrived at the train station earlier than the official pickup times but Murayama-san came and picked us up anyways. He also provided a shuttle service for the festival and even drove us to the train station early the next morning at no charge. The rooms and bathing facilities were clean, though it is an older building. Definitely recommend staying here.
The ryokan is a bit far from downtown Takayama.
Mr. Murayama was knowledgeable and helpful. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. Laundry facilities were a pleasant surprise.
Few food options in evening but no fault of the ryokan.
