Sakura Hotel Hatagaya is a hotel with a hostel vibe. Located close to the Hatagaya train station via the Keio New Line, it's easily accessible. Amenities are basic but good and clean and their English-speaking staff really go out of their way to help you locate your next hotel, map your trip on the subway map and would even call your place of destination to check for landmarks and the like. They also host free walking tours and great parties. They're great!
Hotel is 2 minutes walk from subway station and 2 stops from Shinjuku station. Shin Okubo station which is linked to jr is 15 minutes walk away. Many eateries (cheap to mid price) nearby. Try the Okinawa restaurant - reasonably priced and delicious. There's a Tomods (toiletries and drug store), several 24-hour convenient stores and one 24-hour super market too. Room is tiny but is stocked with enough basic amenities such as mini fridge hair dryer, a deep tub for soaking, shower gel and shampoo, tv, hangers, desk (no chairs). No electric kettle but you can get water from cafe. My boyfriend and I are Asians (1.8 and 1.6 metre tall) and the queen sized bed is fine for us. We have medium sized luggage and it's hard to move around with the luggage on the limited floor space. Ceiling and door frame are low - huge people might feel they are in tiny world haha
Very tiny room with no walking space once your mid-sized luggage is open. No space for huge luggage. No electric kettle in the room.
The location was great, only a short train ride away from Shinjuku. 24 hour access and no curfew.
Very firm lumpy beds
The bed is huge and very comfy. The room is very clean and cosy. The hotel is very near to the station.
The breakfast is disappointing. Mainly bread only. The toilet is very small but I guess that's the same everywhere.
Proximity to station. Value for money, especially the rooms. Good signages at the toll gates, should add, Sakura Hotel is to your right, use the lift.
Narrow road plus a junction with a convenience store... Family with stroller beware and do be very careful. A couple of times trucks and goods vehicles were going on opposite directions into the road towards the hotel...
Set in a quiet corner with a cosy ambiance. Helpful English speaking staff. Very near to Hatagaya station, but it was not a main line. Breakfast is very simple but tasty. Rooms were clean and wifi connection was good.
Clean and convenient, staff are friendly, close to the station. A little Expensive for a budget traveller but very nice nonetheless.
noise from other guests at late night.
Location is real good. About a minute walk from the subway station, and 2 stations away from Shunjuku Station. The place is surrounded by supermarket and groceries stores.
Small room, pillow too hard, and thin walls. Can hear next door neighbour conversation at night.
We absolutely loved the staff beyond Allah Sakura hotel- they were all very friendly, and always happy to assist with helping us through our travels. Location was wonderful and excellent to get all around Tokyo! We loved it here :)
The room sizes were fairly sized for Japanese standards, however the beds were very hard for my liking. It would have been great if the breakfast could include a greater range but otherwise, hotel was great :)
The staff is very kind and can easily speak English
Breakfast and living space is very reduced
English-speaking staff Very friendly Decent breakfast selection The front desk updates a flag display daily, showing which countries guests are from for that night Literally adjacent to the Hatagaya Subway Station (TOEI)
Slightly smaller rooms than expected
Clearness, staff, wi-fi,
- Perfect location, 3 minutes from a subway station; I could reach anywhere in Tokyo from there in approximately 20 minutes with the subway JR line which is easy to use; - Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff - all of them fluent in English; - Vibrant atmosphere in the very cozy 24-hour café; - Quiet neighbourhood; - Clean and comfortable room; - The hotel staff invited us to participate in a walking tour which was great!
- Although very easy to reach from the subway station, I wish I had been given more details about how to get there from the subway station - I was completely lost as I didn't know which exit to take and had no reference point. Addresses in Japan may be very tricky to first time visitors. So I suggest Sakura inserts a more detailed map in their website, including a picture of the convenience store located in the corner of the street which is visible from the subway west exit; - Breakfast is fine, but could include cereals and cold cuts.
close to train station
far from Tokyo station no laundry service for picking up breakfast is only bread and drinks
When we came back from a day out we found our room unlocked with the door standing wide-open (although we had closed it 100%). Fortunately, nothing has been stolen, but still unacceptable!
Very good location, 1 min. walk from the train station Hatagaya. The hotel has a 24-hour open lobby Internet-cafe. The ambience in the cafèis relaxed yet controlled. Good additional information and advice is given by staff on request. You may talk to other guests, or you may stay on your own or with your travel mates only. Outside the hotel are nice chairs and cafè tables. There is a postoffice with an international ATM outside the hotel. There is a 24 hour very good foodshop (Gourmet City) close to the train station.
The rooms are a bit on the small side, even for Japan. The breakfast is not big.
staff sooo friendly! had everything i needed, 6/7 nights slept like a baby except one night i got a brick for a pillow haha.. clean, quiet but bustling/friendly, just amazing location!!!!
Comfortable beds, excellent English speaking staff, great WiFi !!!, very good breakfast (though I saw some complaints comments about it, it was really good for us as an European style breakfast)
Location is good, though you have to take the metro every time you want to get out and this ads up in your budget.
- friendly staff and really convenient location
- bed was a little hard and uneven - could hear snorer in the room next to mine
Located 2 stations from Shinjuku station in a quiet residential area.
Wifi is kinda slow. They used to have cable internet in the past but that is gone now, sadly. The pillow was tiny.
Wonderful staff, a great location close to the subway and shinjuku. The rooms are small but for the price it is a bargain.
The breakfast is kind of poor.
Location Lots of eateries within 5 minutes walk from hotel at very reasonable prices. A big supermarket 5 minutes walk away. Staff speak good English and very friendly and helpful.
Room too small. Hardly any room to move. No place to put the luggage. Breakfast can be improved.
Easy to move around as so near to the city! Very clean. Very efficient & friendly & helpful staff!
No electric kettle in the room to boil hot water! Not convenient to run up & down the stairs for hot water!
Location, breakfast, friendly staff, nice warm shower
