The location, the staff
No lift hehe
It is close to bus station which could take us to different scenery spots. The staff was helpful with suitcase carrying to guest room. The bed was comfortable.
It was not convenient because the shared bathroom was located on the second floor while the guest room was on the 4th floor. The public bathrooms and sinks were dirty. It would be safer if the stair of buck bed was equipped with handrails.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. :)
Facilities are new and good. Location is convenient. Staff is quite friendly.
Wifi does not work sometimes.
- Clean Bathroom Facilities - Great lounge areas - Friendly and helpful staffs - Comfortable bed
- Poor WIFI in the room - No kitchen area
Great location if your last destination of the day is Kiyomizu-dera(15~Min walking distance) Staff at the counter spoke fluent English. Clean and well maintained bathrooms and shower booths. Cafe downstairs equipped with comfy chairs and kind staff.(highly recommend his signature cocktail!) Free quality wifi is a plus
May not be the quietest place at night since it's located near the road
cheap and easy
Not only was the staff friendly, the place clean, it was well organized and also very artistically designed so that the space was a pleasure to be in. Also, we found it on groupon and so got a great rate!
The carpet was grungy and uninviting, and a bit of clutter in the hallways.
Location Hostel desk staff helpful, friendly and spoke excellent English Shower facilities Computers with internet access
No kitchen but instead an over priced cafe (e.g. ¥300 for toast) No cutlery, plates/bowls or mugs available to guests only those who use cafe - the owner only ever gave us manky old tupperware to eat out of, we didn't feel very valued Common area is too small and easily cramped. Wifi always went dead at least once every evening. This place feels more like a cafe with a budget hotel attached. Would suggest backpackers who want to self cater stay elsewhere.
There was a lot of space under the beds so we could hide our large luggage there - really convenient.
Service was perfect. Air conditioning was good in both daytime and night. Bed was quite cozy. The biggest strength of the guesthouse is its venue, which was located near Kiyomisudera and make travellers plan easier their routes among lots of places in Kyoto.
Although I know free wifi is a rare blessing in Japan wifi was a fukushima-level disaster. Whenever I tried to use wifi it stopped intermittently, so I had to go down the community area on 3rd floor. Also some of the crews had a little difficulty speaking English. They are the only source to get information from locals to foreign tourists who cannot speak Japanese. If it were easy to communicate the japanese crews travellers would enjoy their trip much better.
The location of the hostel is near a few attractions (Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Rengeoin Sanjusangendo... ) We just need to walk over the street. It is cheap (2000 yen/per night) We have our own privacy in our place too. I just hope the light on the bed can be brighter.
The only train you can access is Hankyu and of course Kyoto bus (nightime bus is getting lesser). It maybe a little inconvenience. Some of the shower facilities are broken (door handler and water handler) There are no place to put our clothes (in some of the shower room) or the place to put is so high reach for asians who are shorter. Hope the owner can take note. =)
Good place to stay. Staff is a handsome western guy. Lots of western backpacker is staying here. Great chance to make new friends and add them into Facebook. Good location, you can find many shops which can rent kimono around.
Privacy space in the domitory
Small living area no kitchen
Just the wifi. Its good at the lobby but it was disconnecting all the time when i use it in the room.
Best gh for the price, altho there were some troubles with using wifi on 4th floor.
The wifi had a lot of problems. There is no sink to wash dishes, if you need to wash something you need to go to the restroom sink. The hostel is enormous, and yet there isn't a space for you to cook anything. There aren't spoons or knives either. I don't recommend if you want to stay some more nights. For one or two nights it's fine.
Shower was too small and was not clean.
+ the place is super clean and the staff are very friendly + they have cafe on the first floor for hang out and having meal
- location is quite far from train station, you have to walk or ride a bus to reach nearest train station
convenient to tourist attraction place e.g. kiyomizu, kinkaku, ginkaku, inari, arashiyama and etc.
really homey, the staffs are friendly and kind. the facilities exceeded my expectation, clean and neat. I really recommed this hostel for backpackers.
The atmosphere was really good and the staff lovely :)
Easy to bus access... Near kyumizudera temple..
i like the staff..their very helpful..this guest house are easy to find and it is near the main street where a lot of public transport can be found...
they lack of kitchen but its ok..everything else just good
