The warm common space and kitchen with free tea.
The location. Owner should upload the map they showed at the counter. Kind of difficult to reach it at first because it is located in a small branch of road.
The hosts are very very kind The facilities are perfect, and there is possibility to rent a bicycle for visiting Kyoto. I will come back here, each time I'll come in Kyoto
Nothing to say :)
great hostel and very nice (english-speaking) staff
Staff was absolutely wonderful. It was clean and fresh.
It's simple but has all the confort someone need. Kitchen, Toilet, Bedroom, WiFi and atmosphere were just perfect. Great staffs. I completely recommend.
nothing at all to complain.
The staff were all friendly and the place was clean with fabulous toilet/bathroom facilities and a great shared kitchen/dining area. All around it was a lovely place to stay and we felt very comfortable and welcome.
The bed was just a thin futon mattress on a slatted bed frame, but we slept well anyway.
Very good value for the money. Can 100% recommend this place if you travel low budget
NeaR to the undergroud. Very cheap.
Air conditionary doesn't works very well. Too Hot, too dry. There is no Kitchen staff: pans os glasses. Towels smells is horrible.
Good equipped kitchen English speaking staffs Clean Close to subway station Easy to find Cosy living room Good price No curfew
the hostel staffs doesn't introduce Kyoto much. You have to ask for information.
Well located! 2mins away from subway station and if you want to have daytrips from Kyoto (10 mins away from Kyoto JR Station). Friendly staff, good and comfortable bed.
It's near to Kyoto Station, and it has a good staff. Also they speak a very good english.
The staff is very good, but a little bit serious.
I like the fact that it is clean, fresh linens is my first best encounter. It is not far from the station and easy to find from google map. The shared kitchen and facilities allowed me to meet other travellers, and it was indeed value for money. The showers were awesome, and the place made me feel like I was at home. I only wished I had stayed longer, one night was not enough. I found the place online while looking for a place to sleep on my way up to Sendai from Tosu. I was in Kyoto earlier with friends but we were in another place, I only wished we had found Shiori-an first. Definitely planning another trip to Kyoto and staying at Shiori-an, this time longer.
Friendly staff Cozy, tidy and nice place Close to restaurants and buses
Hard to find it the first the time
Very nice clean hostel. Great bathrooms, clean hot showers etc and nice communal area with kitchen.
Kitchen tiny. Only 2 people at a time can use. Also, sliding doors on bedrooms with big gaps under. So with wood floors, you can hear everything from other peoples rooms, when people come and go, talking etc.
- Staff were friendly and accommodating and can speak english! - Free WiFi is fast - Kitchen and common area is very clean - Bunk beds are also clean and comfortable
Had a hard time finding the location. But shouldn't be a problem when asking around. :)
Location: Almost a straight 10min walk from JR Kyoto Station. Easy to find and access Staff: The receptionists spoke perfect English while giving in-depth tours of the accommodation and were happy to answer any questions. Rooms: Twin share room was quite small but manageable. The wide of the room was just large enough to fit a queen size bed, to give some idea. Wifi: Standard speed, available throughout the hotel. A password is required. Other: Kitchen facilities were well equip and a fridge is present to store local goods.
Wifi: TERRIBLE service, possibly one of the worst experiences throughout our trip. Every so often it would cut off and reconnect after half an hour. Simply unacceptable. Noise: Possibly due to its popularity, there will be many guests staying here. Some noisier than others. General rule is past 10pm, silence is to be maintained to for sleep. When we stayed, a group of travelers talked loudly well into midnight without any staff telling them off. Very annoying.
The private twin room was large. Clean wash rooms and shower. We rented bike for a day 500yen each. Happy for 2 nights so we extended for an extra night.
The bed was a little hard. The window let a bit of cold in and we had no heater....or wasn't show how to use it.
Location was near the subway station. 20mins from the main Kyoto station. Bathtub =)
Location. Staff. I was traveling alone and this was the first hostel I stayed in in Japan. Not bad actually. Everything was clean. Thank the staff so much for picking me up from subway station at 23:20, BUT..
Staff. Well after picked me up and briefly explained the position of toilet and places like that(he knew I was all fresh to Japan, but hardly mentioned any notices about what to do and don't, just pointed out to me room locations), he went back to the common place to talk with other people. It was around 00:30 and they talked very loud. He also forgot to say where's the rubbish bin and that caused me some trouble finding it in the next morning. The design of the hostel. Not only is the common place located opposite to the dorm, but it's also an open place, which means it doesn't have a real door. People chatted there at 00:30, in English mostly, and the talking was clear enough even against the dorm door. That night I was so tired to care, or I'd rush out and say something not very polite to them. Overall this hostel is meh for first-comers of Japan.
1.The friendly girls who worked there. 2..Meeting lots of lovely Japanese girls, and girls from other countries, too. 3,Sharing the bathroom with lots of girls. 4,The warm and cosy environment of the common room. 5. The location.
Having to say goodbye to so many lovely girls.
Near bus stop. Near subway Can walk from kyoto station 10 min
We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom. The double room is not very big but comfortable enough for a short stay. The shared bathrooms are very clean. The staff speaks English and is very helpful. The hotel is at walking distance (around 10-15 mins) from Kyoto station and only 1 min from Gojo Subway Station, the location is extremely convenient!
Unfortunately it is not possible to regulate the heater in your room, and the central heating system is turned off at night, which makes the room a little cold when you wake up in the morning.
Japanese style homestay. Next to subway & bus station.
No extra space in the room.
Good location Friendly staff Shower pressure strong enough Enough shower rooms and toilets
Wooden floor makes noisy sound when people walk through.
The staff was very considerate and helped me leave my bags before check-in and after check-out. It was nothing fancy but very comfortable with valued amenity such as different kinda of tea!!
Felt everyone who are staying was but too formal or try to be polite to each other, which is not a bad thing but if you are looking for someone to travel with at Shiori-An, it might not be suitable!
